:o The purpose of ministry is to build up the body of Christ, Unity must be established as this is what gives strength to the body. It can only happen as each part of the body uses the gifts God has given them to the best of their ability. Each part of the body must function at its peak to make the body more effective.

[QUOTE] "... Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we wil no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming."

To know Jesus, and to know the difference between true and false teaching.

When I think of unity in the church I like to imagine the temple that God says we are (2 Cor 6.16). Everyone who is born again gets their name engraved in a brick. Each brick is placed perfectly upon the cornerstone (Jesus) and even though we are just dumb bricks, God has made each of us fit a perfect place for all of eternity. How tragic would it be if we didn't work together with the other bricks that God has placed has placed around us to form a home for Him. It ain't about us, it's about becoming a home for Him....

According to Ephesians 4:13-16 the purpose of constructing a healthy body is for each of us in the body to:
1. reach unity in the faith
2. mature in knowledge of Jesus Christ
3. atain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ
4. protection against false teachings/doctrines
5. in all things grow up into Christ
6. be a working part of the body of Christ.

I love the Lord, &amp; His people, world-wide, &amp; enjoy talking about the goodness of our Lord, &amp; the issues concerning the church today. I've worked in ministry, with young adults, in the past, &amp; still feel the &quot;teaching bug&quot; often. Today, I help out on a couple Christian boards/forums on ezboard; one, Prophecy Fellowship, the other Warriors of God, &amp; love it! <br /><br />Looking forward to jumping back in here with the newest study offered by Pastor Ralph.<br /><br />Looking forward also to seeing [here] some familiar names from past studies...and meeting some new ones<br /><br />blessing in Christ, <br /><br />Jaunita

;) I believe verse's 13 through 16 are speaking of maturity in Christ; "The day is long spent, and nght has come"...a quote I read recently concerning the Body of Believers living today; If we really believe we are living in the "end-times", and are looking for the coming of our Lord, then it is time for the "Church" to go on into maturity....no longer being tossed to and fro, carried about with and by, every wind of doctrine. Instead of debating, and constantly "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth"2Tim.3:7. We need to grow up into Christ (I speak of myself here, as well) We all may never agree on every "jot and tittle" in the scripture's; but we had better agree on the basic's. :) Only a local, healthy congregation, knowing what they believe, being un-shakable, and taking a stand on truth as the Word proclams it, can be a light in their community......This to me, is the purpose of a healthy congregation.
Blessings! Jaunita

 The purpose of growing in unity and maturity is so that we can do the work of Jesus in this world. We are to reach out to the least of these where we find them. We are to find lost soul and introduce them to Christ as Andrew did Peter. We will stand firmly when things get tough, and they will, Jesus promised that. Who was it that said that every day we were to preach the Word and if necessary we were to use words? Let our deeds show what a Christian is.
When we first became Christians, we did not know all the facts and could become confused and tricked. So we had to study, attend Church and learn as we matured in our faith. Once we had done this we start being more effective workers for Christ.

That the body of Christ might mature and become leaders in this world and grow up into Christ. So many Christians are either deceived or do not understand their authority in Jesus, therefore the body of Christ suffers. We must become loving leaders in the name of Jesus.

If the body is unified in the ministry that Christ has ordained for them then they will be able to be effect in there work if the body is splintered in its ministry gift it will be ineffect in its work because it will be to busy trying to keep its members happy.

The purpose of constructing a healthy local congregation is to be a functional and effective congregation in the ministry. It is about winning souls and we should be making a compact on the community in we live. This is done in love with every one done their part with the gift/gifts God has given. The congregation will go in maturity in Jesus Christ.
Rejoice always , pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you........1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Most of what is sung are songs to which God has inspired in and through me while in prayer. I am looking forward to reading the bible study and viewing comments... I pray you will challenge me. <br><br>I first fell in love with Christ... when I was about 12. With much to smile about (although life presented a frown) I ended up believing the enemy (satan) my life was not worth much to anyone. Thank God He sees everything differently and began to open my eyes. I rededicated my life to Him and I thank Him for His dedication to us. With Christ; Jesus... I am able to smile with purpose... smile even through tears... for the Joy of the Lord is my strength... for my Joy is the Lord. May God sheild you always. With much Love in Christ, Sunshine.

A Healthy Congregation; a healthy mind and Body.

Anxiety can kill a healthy mind and body. Come to me all ye who are weary and heavy laden for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

As the Diciples lived each day working closely with Jesus... they were watching, listening, learning side by side. Mistakes were made and corrected. Iron sharpens iron. Eventually they parted and they were sent into different parts of the World; yet on the same Journey. All had one purpose... to serve; the will of God. Their main Focus was as the Holy Spirit directed. The foundation was laid and they built upon it. Each one of us has been given direction also to follow as the Holy Spirit leads and when we and others are not hindering the leading of the Holy Spirit people are taught, and others are lead to follow His example.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit work in Unity in and through us when we are not hindering Him. He balances our lives and we work in the order of which the gifts are to be used. We actually are not winning souls... the Holy Spirit prompts the Heart of a man or woman to come to the Knowledge of Him and through us we can lead them to repentence and salvation... for He bought and paid the Cost already. One can see and feel the Lightness of His burdens when we are all together and the Balance and order of the Gifts seem to fall into place. This is a Healthy Mind... a Healthy Body... Balanced and Orderly. We really do need to grow up and loose ourselves of the Fleshly hinderances.

God has given His Church an enormous responsibility~~to make disciples in every nations. This involves all our given gifts, giving administering, building, and many other tasks. If we had to fulfill this command as individuals,we might as well give up without trying. It would be impossible. But God calls us as members of His body. But as the body of Christ,we can accomplish more together than we would dream possible working by ourselves.Working together the Church can express the fullness of Christ{Life Application Studt Bible} :D

Q6 :P We grow and build the Body of Christ as each of us do our part. Maturity brings growth and stedfastness in love, in faith, in fruitfulness. We are ordaned to bring forth fruit and this fruit should remain. We are commanded to Love one another! (John 15:16,17)

According to Eph 4:13-16 what is the purpose of constructing a healthy local congregation?
The purpose is that, through each person exercising his or her gifts, each will help the Body to grow spiritually more mature and therefore more enabled to build up the Body numerically as they reach out to friends, neighbours and family with the love of God, passing on the good news they themselves once received to others.

:>) see Q 5
The purpose of constructing a healthy local congregation is so that everyone goes out into the community in love - living and acting in love to all around them, helping their neighbors, forgiving each other, showing God's love to all, teaching salvation, praying together, and discussing the Good News together - all the parts of the body working together in harmony to bring bout God's kingdom on earth.

According to Ephesians 4:13-16, what is the purpose of constructing a healthy local congregation?

The purpose of constructing a healthy local congregation is that we can build a place suitable for growth and maturing in the Lord Jesus Christ so that we can attain to the full measure of Him who is head.

In the same way that a human body is able to withstand a lot of battering from the surroundings when it is healthy, so will a healthy congregation be able to withstand a lot of trials and tribulations if they are healthy. A human body can withstand a lot of battering both from outside the body and from inside. It can withstand an onslaught from viruses and bacterias that would normally harm a weak and sickly person. It can also withstand changes in its environment. This is also applicable with a helathy congregation. A healthy congregation can withstand trials that stem both from within the congregation and from their immediate environment.

The purpose of constructing a healthy local congregation is to make sure that everyone in the congregation is on the same page as far as unity in the faith is concerned and believing in the one true God.

In order to build a house, your foundation have to be solid, sound and stable. The same thing goes for the local congregation. We are no longer babes, but we are grown mature people who understand that we can't be shifting with every wind and doctrine that comes by.

James 1:6-8 says, "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed, For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord, a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

So in order to construct that healthy congregation we need to make sure that we understand what the unity in faith means. We need to come as one and until we establish that unity we won't be able to do much in the natural sense, but thank God for Jesus we can do it in the spiritual sense.

The purpose of constructing a healthy local congregation is unity in the faith and knowledge of Jesus, which is to be mature, reaching what we are meant to be in Christ. We are no longer to be babes, easily misled into errors of doctrine and faith, but we are to be prepared to build each other up in the faith, always in love and recognising each other's function in the Body of Christ.
