Q1. (5:13-14) According to verse 14, who is to initiate prayer for healing? Why might this be important?
The sick person is to call on the elders for healing prayer. The sick person needs to have faith that the elder’s prayers will heal them. Faith of the sick person and faith of the elders is what makes the prayers effective. To have faith all persons need to have a pure heart and be living a holly life. Faith does not come from people it come from God. But it only come when the person is clean and holly.

According to verse 14 who is to initiate the prayer for healing? Why might this be important.

The sick person is to initiate the prayer for healing. This is showing his faith or hope since God does not always choose to heal even though we are told to pray. It also shows humility on his part both in his need for God to heal and for our dependance on one another as a family that none of us is above anyone else.
We need God and we need each other!

God Bless!

James tells us that we should initiate prayer for healing by involving our church elders. When we are sick we call upon our doctors to prescribe treatment, recognizing their experience and training.

Often we don’t involve others until our trials threaten to overcome us. We go it alone. We tough it out. We’ve been through it before. We will prevail on our own. And I’ve done just that on occasion.

How silly. If we have faith in our doctors to prescribe treatment, would we not have faith in God’s shepherds to call upon God on our behalf. It is important that we involve the elders of our church to intercede in prayer for our healing.

As Jesus couldn't perform miracles because of their lack of faith, so too, the sick person won't get healed if just the elders have faith, they too must have faith or be open to it.

Q1. (5:13-14) According to verse 14, who is to initiate prayer for healing? Why might this be important?

The patient needs to initiate the prayer for healing. Then ask the elders of the church and others for strengthening of his faith.

This is important because our own individual faith is weak. Moreover, Jesus is the great physician. Doctors are there for us to cater to our sickness but our dependence should be on our Lord more as we are His children, called to serve Him.

i know that we need help we ask Jesus to help us and he will. now i understand that the more prayer there is the better GOD likes it. yet if you pray to GOD, then you trully believe. so other than GOD loving his children and wanting to hear from them. why isn't enough for just the one in need( who truly loves GOD )asks him for his help ?

The sick are to initiate the prayer for healing.

This is important as an encouragement to have faith and a stimulus for belief. The faith of the sick as well as the faith of the ministers are important for healing.

The text instructs the sick person to call on the elders - which suggests that faith is a part of the healing process. Annointing with oil was a medicinal practice back then, but the key is "in the name of the Lord."
Jesus instructed the disciples to go out cast out demons, proclaim the Good news and heal the sick. The elders probably were empowered to do the same for the congregations. To me it all speaks of faith and obedience once again.

According to verse 14, "Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him"

When we are sick we call out to the LORD for healing but if it is a very serious illness the spiritual leaders in the church who are mature in the LORD and walking in fellowship with Him should pray the prayer of faith for that one who is sick.

Q1. (5:13-14) According to verse 14, who is to initiate prayer for
healing? Why might this be important?

I believe that the one sick that is to initiate the prayer for healing. Then go to the elders of the church to have them pray for us as well. When we include others to pray for us it helps to build our faith, but theirs also. And they can see that their prayers are being answered.
God bless,
Mary

John 3/5-8 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Ecxept a man(or woman) be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdomof God. 6- That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7- Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8- The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth; so is every one that is born of the Spirit. <br>

Q1. (5:13-14) According to verse 14, who is to initiate prayer for healing? Why might this be important?
The person who is sick is to call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him. This is a show of his faith that he believes that Jesus will heal him. It is up to the person that prays to have faith for him to be healed also. So it takes a lot of faith to receive healing. When you are sick it is hard to believe totally for yourself so when you call on the elders their faith joins with yours and you are healed. Thank you Jesus.

According to V. 14, who is to initiate faith for the healing? Why might
this be important?

The person who is sick must initiate faith for the healing.

This is important because, "Ye have not , because ye ask not".
There must first be a desire in the heart of the sick person to be
healed before he calls upon others to pray for him.

The elders of the church are to initiate the prayer for healing.
This is important because it is the elders responsibility to pray the 'prayer of faith.' Also it is important to have someone agree with us in prayer.

Q1. (5:13-14) According to verse 14, who is to initiate prayer for healing?

According to verse 14, the elders of the church.

Why might this be important?

Someone who is sick, may be wavering in faith. Getting someone to pray for you that you know has the faith, could be a builder to your own faith. Jesus mentions many times that our faith is what brings us healing. Though, He is the healer, faith is the carrier of that healing. Faith is measured in the New Testament. Some have little faith, some have great faith, some have weak faith and some have strong faith. Matt. 6:30 & 8:10 & 9:22,29 & 15:28 & 17:20 ... Mark 4:40 are a few verses about faith.

Q1. (5:13-14) According to verse 14, who is to initiate prayer for healing?

The sick person is to ASK an elder to pray for them so I would have to say that the sick person is to initiate the prayer.

Why might this be important?

In the bible a lot of times before a healing was done the sick person was responsible to doing something. I believe that it's a step of faith.

Q1. (5:13-14) According to verse 14, who is to initiate prayer for healing?
The person that is sick should initiate the prayer.

Why might this be important?
It is important to initiate your own healing prayer because it will strengthen your faith. You pray for healing because you have faith and believe you will be healed.
If we meet today and you forget me, you have lost nothing. But if you meet Jesus Christ and forget Him, you have lost everything.

There is more joy in Jesus in 24 hours than there is in the world in 365 days. I know, I've tried them both.

Q 1.

1. According to James 5:14, prayer is initiated by the person that is sick or a person knowing (believing in faith) that Jesus can and will heal. It is expected of the elders to pray the prayer of faith.

2. James is stating it is expedted of the elders to pray the prayer of faith. It is the elders of the church that have the closeness and great fellowship with Jesus Christ the healer.
