The oil is quite frequently representative of the Holy Spirit - being poured on the person who is sick. Priests and kings were annointed in the old testament and it all seems to represent the annointing of the Holy Spirit to equip/to fill people with God's presence to accomplish an end. Such as being healed.
Faith and prayer - means to act upon our belief in the triune God. To speak to HIm, to align ourselves properly with Him - - Asking, many times is for our own benefit - to help us see our sin and stumbling blocks in our lives. Confession of sins, removes the blockers that prevent God from healing us.

The prayer of faith asks God to restore the stricken from his physical and spiritual infirmities—and to do so with the full faith and confidence in God’s healing power.
It is through the faith of the Elders’ prayer that the expectation of God’s blessing is realized.
We confess our sin and open the door to God's healing grace. That is not to imply all sickness is borne from sin—but where sin has laid hold of our lives in an unhealthy outpouring, confession and repentance offer us the means to step out from under sin’s grasp on our life, and gives power to our prayers for healing.

Oil is a symbolic representation of the Holy Spirit. As the oil is poured out and anointed, so the Holy Spirit is poured out on the sick person and he is anointed. The oil may contain medicinal properties too, depending on its purity, but mainly, it is a symbolic representation.
Prayer of faith effects the healing process. In other words, it is the starting point for the healing. It contains the deadly punch for satan to start fleeing.
The role of faith is to unite the sick person, the person who prays and God. When these three are united in faith, then the work of healing starts.
Confession to each other starts a chain reaction. The soul is freed from its bondage. Prayer is initiated for the forgiveness and the healing process starts.

3d.) It restores our relationship with God so that our prayers will be heard. David writes: "When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of the summer. Then I acknowedged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the LORD'--and you forgave the guilt of my sin." (Psalm 32:3-5)

prayer of faith? What is the role of faith? What is the role of confession of sins?
The role of the oil is symbolism in the sense that the Holy Spirit is
being poured out upon the person.
The role of the prayer of faith is to stand, without doubt, upon the
word of God, and claim the promise of God with regard to healing.
The role of faith is to please God, for "Without faith, it is impossible
to please God, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is,
and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him".
The role of confession of sins is to truly repent and leave no obstacle
to prevent healing in a sick person. He that covereth his sins shall
not prosper, (shall not be made whole).

When we pray, unless we believe that what we ask for will be granted by God, then our prayer will be to no avail. Praying in faith, then, is important for us to get results from God.
Confessing one's sins frees up one's heart and mind to receive God's forgiveness in Christ. When we are not burdened by sin, then the channels through which our healing will flow become unclogged and we can then better receive that healing. We are also better able to concentrate on developing our faith which is very important in the healing process.

The prayer of faith was suppose to save the sick person or make the sick person well and free from demonic possession. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
By confessing one's sins to another christian, the person is making himself accountable for his sins. He is piercing the darkness. Praying for each other and their sin is an act of faith.

Oil is symbolic indication of the pouring on of the Holy Spirit. Praying in faith is praying with belief in God that He can heal. Faith is belief and trust in God that He will hear our prayers offered in faith. James tells us that confession of sin is required for healing to come and be effective and preceeds healing.

is the role of the prayer of faith? What is the role of faith?
What is the role of confession of sins?
The oil repersents the Holy Spirit. And the prayer of faith is that the one we are praying for is being healed. And the role of faith will help us to draw closer to God. When we confess our sins to one another and forgiving one another. Then the healing can happen.

The prayer of faith using the name of Jesus is powerful and this calls God into the healing ministry.. You must believe. Faith brings about action.. By confession of sins we admit our wrongdoings to another and be made ourselves accountable for our own sins.

It is a point of contact,a stimulus of faith
