It is also at this time that David begins to focus on his son Solomon to succeed him as king in line to be king.

His son and he had it in their heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. David prepares architectural drawings for the entire temple complex.

"Then David gave Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its upper parts, its innerrooms and the place of atonement. He gave him the plansof all the Spirit had put in his mind, for the courts of the temple of the LORD and the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the temple of God and for the treasuries for the dedicated things"

"All this, David said; i have in writing from the hand of the LORD upon me, and he gave me understanding in all the details of the plan." 1 Chronicles 28:11-12,19

David confucts afundraising program among the leaders. First, he sets the example by generous giving. Then he calls on leaders of families, officers of the tribes, military commanders, and members of the court to give.

The generous example of the leaders, in turn, encourages the people of Israel.

"The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD

David had really wanted to build the temple and I'm sure he had many thoughts and ideas concerning it. I think he began preparation partly because he was really excited about it and wanted to live long enough to see it completed. He didn't 'build' it, but only made preparation.

David cooperated with the Holy Spirit by following the directions and drawing up the design he was given.

They trusted him and felt if he was giving they should too.

He knew Solomon would be the one to build the temple, so he followed the Holy Spirit's leading and gathered all the materials needed, the plans& the workmen!

He passed all the information on to Solomon when he became king--David prepared him to follow God. He even wrote the music to be used in worship!

David encouraged others to give to this project by first being a generous giver, then encouraging the people in high offices to do the same thing. Then he asked others to join in --asking them who would want to consecrate themselves to the Lord in their giving too.

Q4. (1 Chronicles 22-29) Why do you think David prepares for the temple, even after the Lord refuses to let him build it?

David's heart's desire from the get-go had been to build a "house for the Ark", and when the Lord told him he could not build it, because he was a man of war and had shed blood, he accepted that and moved to "planning, preparing and provision for seeing that his desire and God's was implemented and completed.

How did David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship?

He copied down the detailed plan he had in mind, (by the Spirit) for the house of the Lord, and for every detail. (ch 28:12) He sought the Lord's guidance, listened and in obedience copied down what the Spirit showed him was His desire for the Temple.

How did David’s example in giving motivate others to give?

David (ch 29) shared his vision and his deep love and desire to honor the Lord with this house, with the people, and itemized how he had himself provided for the work. Then said "Now who will offer willingly to fill his hand (and consecrate it) today to the Lord (like one consecrating himself to the priesthood)? v5. He presented the offer as a holy sacrifice, a love offering to their God, rather than manipulating or "guilting" them into begrudgingly giving, and by first being the example to give willingly and sacrificially with joy!

David prepared the temple after the LORD refused to let him build it because:

-His son Solomon was young and inexperienced, and the house to be build for the LORD should be of great magnificence, and fame and splendor in the sight of all nations.

David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the Temple and its worship by-

-Writing the plan the Holy Spirit had put in his mind. Purchased the Temple site and stockpiled it with a huge supply of expensive raw material.

-He developed order of worship for the Temple. Livites' main duty was to setting up and taking down and moving the Tabernacle.

-Livites also supervise the construction of the Temple, to be judges of the kingdom, gatekeepers, singers and musicians.

David's example in giving motivated others because of his generous gift.

Q4. (1 Chronicles 22-29) Why do you think David prepares for the temple, even after the Lord refuses to let him build it?

I think the reason David made preparation for the temple was - “IT WAS HIS HEARTS DESIRE” that a temple be built.

David’s desire was that a house would be built for the "Name of the LORD", and when God said “It would be built by his son Solomon”, I can see the great anticipation as David began to prepare for that great day.

David’s desire wasn’t that he had to build it; his desire was that the "Name of the LORD" would have a place (Jerusalem) and a house where the Name of the LORD would be known.

When Gad came to David and said for him to set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshing floor of Araunah, it was in his obedience to God and a repentant heart that God removed the plague from Israel.

This is the spot where Abraham offered up Isaac, this is the spot that God showed David when he had the desire to build a temple.

When the angle appeared to him, it was over the place where the altar was to be built, there in Jerusalem, --"The house of the LORD God is to be here, and also the altar of burnt offering for Israel." (1 Chronicles 22:1)

I can almost feel the excitement, the hearts cry of David as he begins to prepare for that great day in Jerusalem when - 2Ch 3:1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

How did David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship?

It would take great "COOPERATION" and not just by David, but by all the people, in order for the plans that the "SPIRIT" put in the mind of David, and for all the details of the plans that were written with the hand of the LORD to be accomplished, as God commanded.

I am reminded that we are to be a "TEMPLE" where the Name of the LORD is to be known, we too must "COOPERATE" with the "SPIRIT" and follow his plans for us, and that we give honor to the LORD as we offer up to him the "SACRIFICE’S" of our lives -- to be a "HOLY PEOPLE" unto God.

How did David's example in giving motivate others to give?

David was motivated to give willingly because his "AFFECTION" was set on the house of his God, he was so "CONSECRATED" that he gave over and above all that he prepared for the holy house to be built.

What motivated the others and in order for it to be accepted by God, had to be the same as what motivated David, that their "AFFECTION" also was on the house of their God.

The word tells us their motivation was as David’s; they were "CONSECRATED" to God, as they gave "WILLINGLY" so that the plan of God would be fulfilled.

Why do you think David prepares for the temple, even after the Lord refuses to let him build it?

It was what he desired, the motivating factors could have been many, nonetheless the desire remained

How did David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship?

He is careful not to over step the counsel of the Lord, however with the talents, gifts, wisdom, and available resources afforded to David he positions in regards and with honor towards the Lord.

How did David's example in giving motivate others to give?

David put God before man, he placed the cause for devotion above his agenda. David's speech, the way he spoke of his doings influenced / persuaded the people, his speech touched their heart, 1 Chronicles 29:6, 9.

David focus on doing what he could , he did not focus on what he could not do. He didn't give all that he had but he gave with "all his might," he gave from his personal treasury in addition to that of the state. David also "set my affection (his compassion, his love) to the house of my God." Basically when the people saw not only the projected cause but also the motive behind the cause along with the example David provided they also saw the value of the project. So they were inspired to give!

Q4. (1 Chronicles 22-29) Why do you think David prepares for the temple, even after the Lord refuses to let him build it? How did David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship? How did David’s example in giving motivate others to give?

I think David prepared for the Temple even though the Lord refuses to let him build it because it was his heart's desire to be a part of it. David loved God's house and he set about to be obedient to God but also to do what he could. I also think he wanted to help Solomon who was young at the time. He saved Solomon countless hours of preparation that he would have had to do himself later especially details, like polishing stones and stockpiling materials. When Solomon's time came to build the temple, much was ready for him. Sometimes, doing the leg work is just as time consuming as the project to be done and when the time comes to implement the plan, there is much gratitude for those who have gone before and have everything ready! Note too, the difference in relationship with Solomon as opposed to his other sons. Could David be learning and growing as we all do as we get older?

David cooperated with the Holy Spirit by planning according to the designs the Holy Spirit had given him. He gave Solomon all the directions he had received and had written down. He was careful to pass on specific instructions to Solomon and to prepare the materials as instructed..... to the detail!

David gave the example to give generously to the building of the Temple from his own treasury and inspired other leadership to do the same who in turn, inspired the more common people until all had given generously to the Temple fund.

How did David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship?

How did David's example in giving motivate others to give?

When God had told David, through Gad, to build an altar on the threshing floor of Araunah, David must of suddenly realised that he had found the ideal site to build the Temple. Having found the site he is now full of enthusiasm for building the Temple, but knowing God had prohibited him from building it, he did the next best thing in organising all the materials, finances and know-how needed for such a mammoth task. Just as Moses had been given the blueprint for the tabernacle, so the plans were drawn up under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This was a massive project and there was no room for human error. All gave generously by following David’s example as well as other leaders.

I think that David has such a love for God that even though He refused to let him build the temple David was going to have everything ready for Solomon to build it. I think that maybe because he was living in such a great palace that he felt guilty about not having a place for the Lord and he wanted Solomon to build it quickly.

David cooperated with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship area by drawing up the plans as directed by the Spirit.

By David giving generously to the building of the temple set a good example for the others to give generously. Leaders are always able to motivate their followers by doing the things that they want their follower to do and this is what David did.

David becomes excited about the rebuilding of the temple even though he knew he wouldn't be building it. God told him due to his bloodshed his son the successor would build his temple. Even though Solomn wasn't to be the successor David choose Solomn to be the one. David's motivation was inspiring and should be enthusactially followed.

David had a heart for God and he was a humble man. He was more concerned for God's glory than his own. He loved the temple to honor God and even though he would not build it he still wanted to design and start preparations. It was a large undertaking to be completed by Solomon who needed much help.

David did what the Holy Spirit told HIm.

When others saw His love for the Lord it motivated them.

God Bless!

4a)David heard from the Lord, that his son Solomon would be a man of peace &rest& build the temple instead of David,as had bloodguilt on him.The Lord also said Solomon would have peace from enemies near him, granting Israel peace during his reign.
b)David urgedSolomon to devote life to seeking the Lord, build the sanctury for the Lord,&started off the preparations for him,by collecting for the temple of the LORD a 100,000 talents of gold,a million talents of silver, quantities of bronze and iron too great to be weighed,& wood and stone.David inspired by HolySpirit drafts architecture drawings for the temple.1 Chronicles 28:11-12, 19,drafts the order of worship of the temple, recognsed the specific roles of the Levites, and wrote many of the psalms that made up the worship in the temple.
c)The generous example of the leaders giving freely&wholeheartedly, encourages the people of Israel who rejoice greatly, trust his leading & give themselves too.

David, who is a competent leader, makes wise use of his time to prepare the kingdom for the building of the temple.  The more supplies and people who are in place, the smoother the actual construction will be.  He is well aware he cannot build the temple, but listens to what the Holy Spirit is telling him and records those directions.  It takes discipline and respect for God to withhold beginning construction after seeing a vision of what the temple will look like.  His patience and cooperation with God reminds us that God must always be in control of the plans, not us

David couldn’t build the temple because he was a man of war and had shed blood. But David preparaed materials for the building of the temple for his Son Solomon.

David wrote psalms that make up much of the music that is sung and played during worship, first in the tent he pitched for the ark, and later for use in the temple itself.

Q4. (1 Chronicles 22-29)

Why do you think David prepares for the temple, even after the Lord refuses to let him build it?

How did David cooperate with the Holy Spirit in designing the temple and its worship?

How did David's example in giving motivate others to give?

God saw the desire of David's heart and He allowed David to do the preparation. It was not a project that David undertook at whim, but it was something that David cooperated with the Holy Spirit in constructing.  David was a singer loooooong before he was a king.  He never stopped singing praises to God, lifting His Name high.   The temple would not only be for the sacrificing but also worship in song.  David composed many of the songs to be used in worship in the temple.   The Levites who had their work cut out for them in the Wilderness wonderings,  would now be used as singers, 'musicians', in the Temple and fulfill other work designed for them once the Temple was built. There were the priests, the singers, porters, guards, treasurers,  officers etc.  David organized as the Holy Spirit led how it was all to function.

The Temple would be seen and henceforth it would be known and seen that Yahweh was the God that Israel served.  Here the people would gather together as a Nation to worship Him Who had brought them out of slavery and given them the land.

David played a leading role in giving handsomely towards the building project.  In this was he set an example which others then followed,  they too then gave willingly.
