Skinnykenny Posted October 5, 2013 Report Share Posted October 5, 2013 Doing good for the sake of others and expecting nothing in return, going the extra mile, turning the cheek, being kind even in the face of anger and hatred, and always being ready to express why we have such peace and joy in Christ alone. Love of power, personal edification and pleasure at the expense of others and at the expense of natural and divine law makes a mockery of truth and justice. We are called to pray for our government's even if our government leaders are abusive and evil and no respecter's of God or man. We are to pray for our nation and its citizenry and our neighbors and this so that we might live in peace. We must do our part in bringing about peace and our part is sincere prayer to our Lord and God who is able to bring peace into our land and into our homes and into our lives. antonate Posted October 7, 2013 Report Share Posted October 7, 2013 when we walk in the right ways, speak right, refrain ourselves from illegal gain and wealth through bribes , shun from evil ways it shows our love for God and our eagerness to please him . it indicates a honest and pure living before God and man. we display the love of God and people are touched by the love of God when we live righteously. when we do good and shun from evil it displays love to the people whom we are connected with. our right living can by itself display the love and mercy of God to all around us The word of God commands not to take bribes. if a righteous government does this they are disobeying the word of God and end up in total destruction. Walking in righteousness, speaking the truth and rejecting all forms of evil. 2. This displays love for man by demonstration His compassion for us. 3. Corruption weaken any government, many times resources that is produced in a country are sold by top govenment officials thus, taking away needed resources for its citizens and especially the poor. Ethical behavior makes us just towards all our fellowmen and this it display our love for man. Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?”15 Those who walk righteously and speak what is right,who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes,who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against contemplating evil—16 they are the ones who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress.Their bread will be supplied, and water will not fail them. Perhaps it also means not cutting someone off while driving in rush hour, keeping your seat belt attached; not taking some spare printer paper from the copiing machine at work. Does this not also disturb the soul? God is watching over all. He expects us to be ethical in everything when the Spiriti leads us. It all counts, big and little. When we live as the Word instructs us we show we have come into agreement that this is good and shows we have embraced God and His truth in love. This in turn, displays love for men because we see honesty and integrity in the light of truth. We see a whole different way to live that honors others and we see how to treat others fairly. Justice. We turn from the worlds system of gain and learn a better way. Love. Love is selfless and giving looking to the needs of others. Especially the poor and defenseless. Our hearts become pure in loving others and so others learn to love too. Corruption and taking bribes always destroys a righteous government. The government and governing authorities have turned from God. They are soon despised and lose God's favor. The evil in their hearts show through and with evil comes their downfall. It demonstrates that we honor and revere God, that we understand that we are His ambassadors in the world, and we want others to know what He's like as we represent Him well. We are to be His light in the world to draw others to Him. Because we love Him, we want to reflect Him and His goodness to others. b. To take bribes and to demonstrate corruption leads to more corruption, distrust in government...a slippery slope to more and more evil, and finally at some point judgment and destruction from God. People seem to follow those who are sly and cunning. When we see someone who exhibits ethical behavior they stand out. Love and respect for God is the prime motivation for ehtical behavior. Without love for God, a person will see no need to forsake the corrupt ways of the world at large, and seek the narrow path. How does it display love for man? If we love God we will also love our fellow man. One flows on from the other. As I wrote above, ethical behavior is not the standard way people act. It's only love and respect for people that prompts Christians into behaving in an ethical and honest way. Deceit will get the rest of humanity where they want to be. How does the corruption of taking bribes destroy righteous government? No one can govern fairly if they're beholden to the people who give them money or services in return for political favors. There's no such thing as a free lunch, as the old saying goes. If someone give you something, they want something in return. It's the way of the world. This separates us from the evil doers whose hearts are evil and whose lips tell lies (sinners in Zion). There must also be the shunning of all evil deeds. An example being the acceptance or giving of bribes which only under mines the justice system. Ethical behavior, as noted in verses 15 and 16, will connect us to God. Actions which are the opposite--greed, deceit, oppression, vanity, gossiping and evil doing--are abominations to God; therefore, individuals who desire to be near God would not think of engaging in these wrong doings. As mentioned in 1John 3:10, "whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother." If we love God, it is evident if we follow the Golden Rule, and what is mentioned in 1 John 4:11-12, "Beloved, if Gos so loved us, We also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us." Bribery is only another tool used by God's enemies who do not trust in the Father and His plans but can only trust in the physical which he can manipulate and control. And your government has taken on a master. Righteousness is justice for all. But where government is corrupt, there is favoritism. Those who pay the bribes control the government and become the masters of those without influence. . In a Charles Stanley devotional, he gave an example of the fruit of your actions. If you plant apple seeds, you expect to grow apple trees and you can reasonably expect harvests of apples. You don’t expect to receive oranges from those trees. Likewise, when you plant seeds of evil, the produce of your efforts will not be justice and peace, but evil. From those seeds of bribery, trees of destructive behavior will grow. When we life a righteous life honoring God by the words we speak, the things we do, the way we walk and talk and exhibit justice and christlike character it will surely affect all humans we come in touch with and they will realise that this is only a ethical love for God.. How does it show the love for man?. when we live such lives we will naturally not harm any human being and live in love and harmony with our neighbours so that is following Gods commands and shows love tor people. If we are honest and fair in our dealings and reject making profit by fraudulent means, hold back our hands from taking bribes, refuse to listen to wrong plans and intentions..we will sit in high places.BUT if we indulge in the wrong practices then we are ruling with the evil forces donminating the government. He said in the gospel John that if we love Him we will obey His commandments. The same reasoning above explains why it display love for man. The Lord God said that we should love Him and also love our neighbour. If we love God will do only what pleases him about others. Sometimes a rascal will fall in love with a person with high ethical standards. If the rascal changes his life to conform with his loves standards he may finally win her love. In the same fashion when we live our lives as to the ethical standard in Isaiah 33:15 , “those who walk righteously and speak uprightly, who despise the gain of oppression, who wave away a bribe instead of accepting it, who stop their ears from hearing of bloodshed and shut their eyes from looking on evil,...”. As well we must love our neighbor for “we cannot love God who we have not seen if we do not love our neighbor who we have seen”. (1 John 4: 20) Bribes and corruption are the blight of government.
