Q2. Fulfillment of the Lord's Supper

At the communion table we remember the whole purpose of God and Jesus Christ is to establish His family, pure, holy and victorious. As Jesus was, so I need to be victorious, to operate completely within the purpose which God has for me personally, so that I may be at that feast, lamp full of oil. I was not put here without purpose, but in pure and holy estate to reflect His glory, with life, talents and passionate love. This is what He died for, and in eating His flesh and blood, I too must be totally devoted to that purpose, what ever the cost.

The cup we drink is the "Cup of the Covenant." Christ has offered a proposal of marriage to us, He has chosen us to be His bride. When we drink of the cup, it seals our covenant with the Lord. We are saying "yes we will be your bride." He has now gone to prepare for us a place, and when the Father tells Him it is time to go get His bride, He will come, and we will drink together our pledge to each other, the "Cup of the Covenant" at the Great Banquet.
What should this do to our thoughts at the Lord's Table?
As I drink of the cup, I am renewing my pledge to Christ my Bridegroom. I am thanking Him for choosing me to be His bride, I am thanking Him for the invitation to the "Wedding Feast." As I drink of the cup, I know He is looking forward to our drinking together at the Great Banquet, for I am preparing myself for that great day.
As the Bridegroom presents me to the Father, I want the Bridegroom to be happy with the garments I have put on, for they are the garments He gave me to wear, garments of His righteousness. I received them when He offered Himself for my sins. He loves me and I love Him, that is why I want to put on His garments. He paid a great price for them, and gave them as a gift to me.
My thoughts at the Lord's Table are on my Bridegroom, I am anxiously looking for Him to come and take me to the "Great Banquet," there we will drink together the cup of His Love, Mercy, and Grace.

Interestingly enough, the Passover pointed to and painted a door in blood to an event in the future to the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. In the Last Supper, Jesus is pointing to the last cup that He will drink with us in the New Kingdom. So again we see a foreshadow of a new renewal in a since because we will be reunited with all those who have gone on before us in the presence of Our King Jesus.
As the spotless Lamb of God, His blood was spilled to save His people from the penalty of death providing eternal forgiveness from sin. Luke mentions two cups in His writings and in both Matthew and Mark, there is only one. Christ spoke of His body and His blood when He spoke of the fourth and last cup. This tells me that for sure, there will be no more offerings by God. We must drink now.
We must drink the cup of forgiveness. We must commune with Jesus now and not later.
What should this do to our thoughts at the Lord's Table? We must prepare Ye the way of The Lord. Prepare our hearts for open heart surgery for the Holy Spirit to come in and sweep out our hearts of anything bitter because we do not want to drink bitter waters. We ask God to search our hearts and cleanse us to keep us ready.
Father I come to You now and ask that You always lead me in the way everlasting that my heart always be laid open for You to search me at Your Will. May I become spotless before Your throne each day. May everyday begin and end in preparation for the Great Banquet. Thank You Father for keeping me from temptation and showing me Your sweet promise and keeping me from the evil one. Lord, Your Kingdom is to come and Your will is to be done, here on earth just like it is in heaven. Give me daily Your bread.
Speak Your word continually into my heart and as Your go to prepare a place for me in eternity, may my heart always be a place for Your Spirit to dwell. Thank You Father for writing Your words on the tablet of my heart that by Your Power, will never turn to stone. I am but a vapor in Your breath and I thank You for stepping into time and separating Yourself from God for but a moment such as the cross.
Thank You for enduring that wrenching pain and for being patient with me while I wrenched in the darkness and finally gave up my will to be in Yours. Thank You Father for showing me that Your book is Your Last Testament and Your last written will to Your people and You have shown us what You have left for us as Your adopted children. You have promised us a Kingdom that will be forever with out a tear or strife or sadness or despair. No depression and no oppression from the enemy. Father, I thank You for calling the light out of the darkness when the mass You held in Your hand was nothing and Your breathed four precious words, “Let There Be Light!”
Thank You Father, for Your Son Jesus Christ, The Light of the world! In Jesus name I pray and thank You- Your Daughter whom You have chosen as Your own. I am so humbled. What an honor and a privilege. I await the sound of Your voice, “Come Home” Praise Your Name Jesus. - Amen

This magnificent time should cause our thoughts to hone in to actively subject our lives to the redemptive and sanctifying work of the body and blood of our Christ. Personally, through this study, I have noticed a shift in my own reluctance at times to partake of the Lord’s Supper. Formerly, my desire was gauged by how comfortable and sure I felt with my relationship with the Lord; it was more about what I felt I was able to bring to the Table. Now, I understand that I cannot add to what Christ has already supplied. The Table is meant for me to receive from it and allow Him to add to me, all for the purpose of becoming one with Him. The thought of being one of the great multitude shouting before the throne of God actually blows my mind while at the same time settling a warmth of peace deeper within my soul.

When we come to the Lord's Supper let us remember that we are renewing our commitment to Him and that, together, we are pressing toward the mark, that time when we will all be together with Him, forever.

We must remember what Jesus has done for us. We must give thanksgiving when receiving the Lord's Supper. We must give all praise and honor to God. We should eat and drink at the Lord's Supper until this time has been fulfilled. In doing so we must remember that Jesus has promised that he will prepare a Great Banquet in honor of his bride in his second coming.
When Jesus returns he will then prepare a Great Banquet and we shall eat and drink uniting us as one.

The Lord's Supper is something that Jesus wanted us to partake in always to remeber what he has done for us in the Cross. With the Lord's Supper it leads into the Great Banquet that we are so anxiously awaiting because we are going to be in the awesome presence of God the Father and with the Savior himself who had said to do and to do it in remebrance of Him.When we do eat of the Lord's Supper then we have to remeber that we are going to be doing that and more when we reach the glorious presence of the Lord.

Our thoghts at the Lord Supper should therefore be fixed beyond the Table, to the expected Great event where we will be with the Lord and feast together with other believers.

The Lord’s Supper finds its “fulfillment” in the Great Banquet in that after the Great Banquet comes to pass, there will be no requirement to celebrate the Lord’s Supper, for the “fulfillment” would have been realized. Christ himself, after he partook of the Lord’s Supper with his disciples would not again partake in any such supper until the time of the Great Banquet. He nevertheless mandated that those who believed in him should continue to engage in it as a way of remembering him, and as part of the preparation for the final banquet.
Our thoughts at the Lord’s Table ought to be centered on praising God for the wondrous redemption purchased for mankind by the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. We should use the opportunity to renew our relationship with God, and to further focus our attention on, and prepare ourselves for our own participation in the Great Banquet.

It is the consumnation of everything. It is complete. The King will return and we will feast together.
We are privileged and honoured to be a part of this, the price was freely paid by Christ Himself so we can commune together as one.

Jesus told His disciples He wouldn't neither drink of the fruit of the vine nor eat again until the Last Day.
The Great Banquet is the fulfillment of this promise.
What should this do to our thoughts at the Lord's Table?
We should considered how blessed we are to be given the honor and privilege of sharing in the Great Banquet with our Lord.

We eat His body and drink His blood in remembrance of Him. On the last day when we are lifted up we will eat and drink with the Lord. Not in rembrance but with Him again. Everything will have then been fulfilled.
Part of our thoughts during the Lord's Supper should be to the promise and hope of the future, when we will be with the Lord for always. We dwell on His incarnation and His sacrifice but we also think of the purpose of His ministry and its final culmination: when we will be in Paradise with Lord Jesus.
"For you have been born again, not of imperishable seed, but imperishable, through the living enduring word of God."
"Jesus said, 'No one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for service in the Kingdom of God'."

I think the Lord’s Supper we always partake of now is just the beginning and not complete yet and its completeness will be fulfilled in the Great Banquet. When we partake of the Lord’s Supper, we should remember of what Jesus done for our sins and keep believing in Him so that we can be in the last of the Lord’s Supper that is the Great Banquet.
I think every time we partake of Lord’s Table our thought should also be directed to the finishing of Lord's Supper that is fulfilled in the Great Banquet. By that we will be reminded to prepare ourselves for that moment while we live in our world now by believing in Him and doing what He wants us to do.
