Boldness is not reckless impulsiveness. Boldness requires courage to press on through our fears and do what we know is right. How can we be more bold? Like the disciples, we need to pray with others for courage. To gain boldness. you can pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to give you courage. Start where you are by being bolder in small ways.
The opposite of boldness can be many things, timidity, fear, laziness, lack of faith, not trusting in God. If we have these standards we will accomplish nothing for the kingdom of God.

Paul requested prayer for boldness because of the opposition to the Gospel that he faced.
In war if the enemy sees that you are weak, he will defeat you even befor you can think of a way out. In the war against the devil we need boldness because he come at us with his entire armament. We must be prepared. When preaching the Word of God or witnessing for Christ there will be competition by the emeny, we must stand boldly and defend our faith.
The opposite of boldness is weakness. A Christian is weak when he cannot stand up for his faith in the face of the enemy, the devil. He may have the desire to witness to a friend but finds himself unable to.
If he allows this, weakness, to be a life-posture; he would find himself being led away by the enemy. Those who he would have witnessed to would soon drag him along into the path of unrighteouness.

Like the early apostles, his prayer was not for success, nor for deliverance from danger or suffering, but for boldness in proclaiming the gospel of God that was entrusted to him.
The opposite would be shyness, timidness, spirit of fear/rejection.
We will not fulfilling our goals/commands from God

He was in prison and knew that to continue to preach to those around him would only give the jews more to charge him with and the romans more reason to go along with them.
Boldness is necessary because without it we often submit to our fears and fail to do what we should. Without boldness we join the crowd and go along with anything.
The opposite of boldness to me would be fear. not doing what we should and going along with what we should not.
We fail to follow the true calling of God for our lives and go along with the crowd never leading any one to Christ or letting anyone know that we are followers of the Lord God. We give in to fear and never stand firm in the strength that Jesus gave us when He conquered death and gave us a place with Him on His thrown. We fail to offer to sacrifice for others as He showed us how and not show them the love of Christ that He showed us.

To me praying for boldness is important, it gives us strength, boldness make me strong. To me fear is the opposite of boldness. I would need this boldness in war because if not I might become fearful.

Can you imagine a war between a cowardly army and a bold army? The only way that a cowardly army could win is if the bold army tired itself out chasing them down. To be victorious over the enemy of our souls we need to go after that old rascal, not sit back and allow him to devour us. If we do nothing we are just cowards and weaklings, captured and in the bondage of sin.

The opposite of boldness would be shyness. We would never witness for the Lord if we don't have Holy Boldness or tell the world how much He has done for us.

Paul would request prayer for boldness, because he, like us too, have a natural tendency to avoid pain and persecution, above all, death.
Boldness is necessary in war, because without it we became weak in mental and body and cannot use our armors in a right way so that our enemies will be easy to defeat us. The opposite of boldness is fear. If this is our accustomed life-posture, our faith will not grow up even will be dead, and it will become a bad witness in Christianity faith to people around us.

(Ephesians 6:19) Why would Paul request prayer for boldness? Why is boldness necessary in war? What is the opposite of boldness? What happens if this is our accustomed life-posture?
Philippians 1:20
according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
To those who do not know God at all, natural is all there is. When faced with fear, many will fall faint. When we walk or run in the spirit, the Spirit of The Lord, goes before us and prepares a place for us in the resence of the enemy so that we can stand in boldness against the enemy. Blow us down, cut off our heads, so what… Sooner we get to be with The Lord and satan and his cronies know this … Believe me, they are more afraid of us when we know the truth and folks who do not know this about the enemy of fear can be trompeled down.
If weakness is all we have against the enemy, he will smell us a mile away. We must come into the knowledge of truth that the enemy only has the power over us that we yeild to the enemy. Sometimes it takes me a bit to remember this and fight back because we do become complacent and that is an enemy in it’sself. Think of it this way… The enemy knows Jesus and trembles. Will not the power of Christ Jesus, by His Spirit in us not have the same power to over come the enemy. We have been given His authority to trample on snakes and scorpions, to over come ALL the power of the enemy, nothing will harm us. Luke 10:19
If we do not stand up to the enemy now, we will fall pretty early I should think. He who does not stand for something, will fall for anything.

So he could boldly go out and spread the Good Word.
Why is boldness necessary in war?
So you won’t show fear.
What is the opposite of boldness?
The opposite of boldness would be fear.
What happens if this is our accustomed life-posture?
If we are always fearful our witness would not be very effective.
There is more joy in Jesus in 24 hours than there is in the world in 365 days. I know, I've tried them both.

its not easy wearing the lords colors in the devils territory.we can be so easily discouraged and want to give up.you know hebrews talks about this in chapter 2. it seems people would want to float down a river than to swim against it. boldness is a strong determination with no regard to self, it is courage under fire.

He was in chains for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, surrounded by "enemy" guards, and would be facing powerful officials when on trial. He wanted to be bold rather than succumbing to fear of man, fear of persecution and further pain and torture...even martyrdom. He wanted to continue to stand for Christ rather than compromise his message and his witness for his Lord.
Why is boldness necessary in war?
Boldness surprises and intimidates the enemy who expects us to cower and be timid. It's the element the enemy least expects, and catches him off guard, especially if he has seen a pattern of timidity and fear in our past.
What is the opposite of boldness?
Timidity and fear....cowardice.
What happens if this is our accustomed life-posture?
If timidity and fear are our pattern, without an infusion of the Lord's boldness, we will be fair weather, beaten down Christians...ineffective in our witness, and living a defeated life. Someone has said "Courage is doing it afraid"...that has been my pattern. The fears of a lifetime of abuse and violence, infused with God's boldness have empowered me to keep on with whatever God has called me to do, though doing it afraid. Each victory has given me more confidence in God's ability to "keep me" and to empower me with His power, and the realization and that though I am weak, He is STRONG....He and I are a majority, no matter who the enemy we're confronting.

We should boldly defend our faith. We need to face the unbelieving world with confidence, knowing and believing all the promises our Lord and Saviour has made. We cannot allow the devil to get the upper hand. We will never win the ‘good fight’ if we are timid and all the time on the defensive.

Paul is a man made of flesh and blood who is imprisoned. He knows he will go to trial before the Romans. He knows that the prayers of the saints empower him in his ministry.
Why is boldness necessary in war?
We must be courageous in this life to spread the gospel and fulfill God's purpose for our lives. This does not appear to be politically correct in many circles who mock us and condemn our beliefs. Additionally, we are in a spiritual war against the evil forces of the heavenly realms. This is a worthy adversary who is constantly trying to defeat us. Lastly, we should fearlessly make known the gospel because scripturally Paul encourages it.........we are all ambassadors of the gospel
What is the opposite of boldness?
Timidity.
What happens if this is our accustomed life-posture?
Our beliefs and behavior are compromised and directly contradicted by scripture here in Ephesians. We must put on the whole armor of God so we can take our stand against the devil's schemes........so that when the day of evil comes...............we will be able to stand our ground.........and after having done everything, to stand victorious.
