Q4. (Hebrews 2:14-15) What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15?
The purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15 was to destroy the devil and to free the Believers from the fear of death.
"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death -- that is, the devil -- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death." (Heb. 2:14-15)

In what sense is this mission accomplished?
This mission is accomplished because Satan has been stripped of his power, Christ now "holds the keys of death and Hades". Jesus is also the one who forgives our sins, cleanses our conscience so that we know we are forgiven, and gives us confidence to approach him without fear of condemnation.

In what sense will it see its final completion in the future?
The final completion will come when Satan is destroyed in the Lake of Fire.

What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment?
We have been set free from the fear of death. Christ has forgiven our sins, cleansed our conscience so that we know we are forgiven, and he gives us confidence to approach him without fear of condemnation.

Jesus had to become human ( " flesh and blood" ) so that He could die and rise again, in order to destroy the devil's power over death ( Romans 6: 5-11 ) Only then could Christ deliver those who had lived in constant fear of death, and free them to live for Him When we belong to God. we need not fear death, because we know that death is only the doorway into eternal life ( 1 Corinthians 15)
tells about the resurrection of Christ. It would be good to read it.

Christ's death and resurrection set us free from the fear of death because death has been defeated. Every person must die, but death is not the end, instead, it is the doorway to a new life All who dread death should have the opportunity to know the hope that Christ's victory brings.

Through the death of Christ on the cross He died for my sins in the past, present and future. No matter what Satan throws at me I have been forgiven. MY sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus. He gave His life for my life. I can look any one straight in the eye and never feel shame again. I am free from the slavery to sin and the past.

What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15?

1) to destroy the devil
2) to free from the fear of death

"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death -- that is, the devil -- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death." (2:14-15)

In what sense is this mission accomplished?

Seeing that Jesus is the Stronger One who has despoiled Satan and taken away his power.

"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." (Colossians 2:15, NIV)

In what sense will it see its final completion in the future?

That satan will be the one judged and is the one who will be punished eternally.

What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment

1) That the power of satan has been broken

2) That our conscience has been freed, that we have a hope of a glorious life after death, not fear of judgment.

"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:56-57)

The purpose of His death was to destroy the one who had power over death. Jesus took "the stinger" out of death.

The mission is accomplished. We have the eternal life Jesus has. Death does not have power over us anymore.

In the future satan will be judged and sent to everlasting torment.

The result in our lives is knowing that satan has been defeated & cannot harm me--any more that what God allows. We know we have eternal life & no one can take it away from us!!

i think the purpose was to destroy our fear of death and forgivness. Im not sure i understand this right but it sounds like that as long as we fear judgement we are holding on to our sins wich means we can not be forgiven, so if we do not forgive our self then we have doubted God.When jesus died on the cross he defeated death an our sins were forgiven so when we ask for forgivness we should have no fear because we should believe that Jesus death defeated the fear. When jesus returns he will cast fear and death (the enemy) into a lake of fire. The result of our lives is that we should live without fear of death if we have accepted Christ and asked for slavation through his blood.

Christ's purpose was to destroy satan (who holds people in bondage to death).

JEsus has broken the power of satan over His children. We can no longer be held in fear (deference to the powers) of death, but live in the freedom of Life in the Spirit of the living God.

It is in part still a hidden mystery (Now I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known! 1Cor 13), but all will be revealed at the wedding feast of the Lamb, when Jesus is united with the Bride He has saved.

Because of Christ's accomplishment we, filled with the Spirit of the Living God and abundantly alive (switched on) to His purpose and calling, can live in the Light of His being even now, participating presently in our Heavenly heritage (of regained dominion), in anticipation of its full revelation at the wedding feast.

The purpose of Christ's death is to destroy the devil who had the power of death and deliver us from the fear of death. Jesus death and resurrection has demonstrated once and for all that the devil is no longer master of death.

That we are free from the bondage of death that we have the promise of eternal life, through Christ with Christ.

At the marriage supper of the Lamb.

This scripture sums it up, the result in our lives-
"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:56-57)

Christ's purpose was to destroy the devil and to free us from the fear of death. He did it through His incarnation. He died for us on the cross. Through His resurrection He had overcome the power of the devil.

Christ'c victory was exhibited right from His resurrection from the death. He became the first fruit of resurrection which in turns assures us of the real liberation. It will be accomplished in the future at the time of His second coming where He will destroy Satan and all his forces.

We are free from the bondage of sin. we are liberated. But so long as we are in this earth, though Christians we are, we are not immune from the temtations and the traps that the devil is presently working. As the writer of Hebrews stressed, we need to hold firm to the end.

Jesus suffered and died to deliver us from death, not bodily death as we all will die but, spiritual death from sin. To that end, by His precious shed blood we have been set free from the death of sin and no longer do we have to live therein.
For those of us who will endure 'til the end we will be made perfect. When the final judgement is rendered and old slewfoot is tossed into the lake that burns with fire and brimstone those who claimed the victory at Calvary will go on to be with the Lord for evermore.
Today, because of Our Savior's suffering we are no longer slaves to sin and the devil. He has set us free. PRAISE HIM!

The purpose of Christ dead was to destroy the power of the devil , who had the power of dead.
Since we are in Christ we need not fear dead because when Christ died , our evil desires and bondage to sin died with Him. The power of sin over us died with Christ on the cross.
We are all looking forward for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ when we will have new glorified bodies to meet Him again , so we should not fear dead.

a)The purpose of Christ's death was to destroy the devil. (He has not destroyed him yet.) And to free US from the fear of death.

cool.gif The mission has been accomplished in the sense that Christ Jesus died but then had victory over death by rising again from the dead.

c.) The future completion of the mission will be when Jesus Christ returns to remove His church from this world and the devil is subdued forever.

d)Our lives are profoundly affected by this truth by the removal of fear that incapacitates us. Our eyes are now fixed on the 'uppertaker', not on the 'undertaker'.

Q4. (Hebrews 2:14-15) What was the purpose of Christ's death according to verses 14 and 15?
The purpose of Christ's death were to:
Destroy the devil and to free those who all their lives were held in bondage or slavery to death or to the fear of death.

In what sense is this mission accomplished?
This mission to defeat and destroy satan was accomplished by Christ defeating the power of satan, forgiving us our sins cleansing us with his blood and removing the fear of death from us.

In what sense will it see its final completion in the future?
The final completion will come when Jesus who holds the keys to Hades and death will judge and convict satan and his followers sentencing them into the Lake of Fire.

What is the result in our lives from Christ's accomplishment?
We have hope that we will see the Heavenly City of God and live in his kingdom forever. Jesus victory over satan gave us the hope that we can have eternal life. We do'nt have to live in fear of death anymore because we know as Christians the benefit that death brings to us.

The purpose of Christ's death was to conquer death (Satan) as well as to free us from our fear of death and judgment. Christ's death and resurrection is the only reason we can know that He conquered death for us and in so doing we have nothing to fear in out future and are free to look forward to our Eternal Life with God -- all because of Jesus and His total obedience to God's plan for us. The final completion of God's perfect plan for us will be on the last day, when all of God's children will be taken up to be with Him. Any remnant left of Satan and his perceived kingdom will be destroyed. The result of this in our lives is, as we love and believe in Him, we have a place to put all of our troubles -- with Him. The job is no longer ours to worry about. We can enjoy the freedom that comes with trusting Him and not ourselves. This is also why we are told to praise and thank God in all things - not just in our blessings, but in our trials and difficulties as well. God wants us to get to know Him personally, and allows our trials so we can learn to trust Him and experience His awesome power that he will bless us with. Without our trials, we would remain self-sufficient and detached from Him in a trouble-free life.

The purpose of Christ's death was to overcome the power of Satan whose power is ruling this earth...now....and to eliminate from us the fear of Death of our bodies. Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, sin has no power over us, other than what God allows Satan to have or what we choose to do against God. The Holy Spirit has been given to us to empower us to overcome our sinful natures...so we grow in HIs Grace into the likeness of Jesus....and He will finish the good work He has begun in us. Death spiritually has lost its sting, for we are saved from it.

When Jesus comes again He will finish Judgment on all who remain, and Satan will receive his award of hell...with his followers... That day will be one that all His people will rejoice , and celebrate....and worship Him in all His glory. Our tears will be wiped away forever.

The results in our lives are the Peace of God, and Joy of our Salvation, which leads us to experience the Abundant Life here on earth that is promised to us. Abundance of Love from God includes His tough love too, but His Spirit is our constant companion to guide and comfort and bless us each day.

14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage
He was to defeat death and complete the Father work of bringing all His chosen to Him. He defeated death by being raised from the grave after His death on the cross.

He will lastly bring all God's chosen His brothers to Him and complete His destruction of death and sin by doing away with the devil and his angles in eternal torment.
Our lives are changed for ever when we chose to take Jesus as our Saviour and Lord because we nolonger need to fear death but look foward to a time when Christ will bring us hometoHimand we will be for all time with the Father worshiping and praising Himfor all He has done for us. We have found a sure hope in Christ as our Redeemer and Saviour by His death and resurrection.

"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death -- that is, the devil -- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death." (2:14-15)
This sentence spells out two purposes of Christ's death: (1) to destroy the devil and (2) to free from fear. Christ not only destroyed the devil's power, he also freed the conscience so that we have hope of a glorious life after death, not fear of judgment. Hallelujah! The final completion will be when we go to live in glory with the Lord forever. The result in our lives from Christ’s accomplishment is peace and joy from not being held in slavery by fear of death.

The purpose of Christ death was to defeat Satan..the holder of death.
Christ overcoming death (spiritual) is a one time for all time. Past, present and future.
The result in our lives is 'Praise to God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit we will go home to be with HIM.

It was to destroy him who held the power of death ( Satan) and to free us of the fear of death. Satan's power has been broken and we no longer have to fear death for we know Who holds the key. We know where we will spend eternity and of our life after death.
