Q7. Father, Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit (Luke 23:46)

It is with a great deal of confidence that Jesus cries out this prayer one which He has prayed throughout His life.He knows his task is finished
and he will once again be with the Father.
Isn't it wonderful to know with certainty that when our physical bodies reach there end, we have our Father waiting for us. At this point our Lord must feel a great sense of accomplishment through His sacrifice made on the cross.
On this sad but joyful day let us all glorify Jesus who died that we as sinners may have life everlasting.
Father today although steeped in sadness my heart wants to shout out with gladness, knowing that You gave you only Son my King Jesus who loved me enough to die for my sins on that cross.Father into your hands I commit my life.
Thank you Jesus for making me whole, praise You Amen.

He means his soul, which He had in his human nature, together with the body, united to the Divine nature. Hence we derive an additional proof that the human soul is distinct from the body, that it lives after it, in a state separate from it, and such a state as is susceptible of happiness and misery.
This saying comfort us because there is a place of safety from danger, where souls shall not only survive, but live also in a manner very different from that in which they lived here; where no temptation shall be able to assault, no sin to pollute, no affliction to discompose them? From these considerations, every Christian may draw such inferences, as will turn to the best account, by supporting him under the trials of the present life; by arming him against immoderate fears of death; and by quickening him to those virtues and graces which are necessary to justify his hopes of exchanging this present life for a state infinitely better.

His task is finished here on earth so now Jesus, as an obedient son, seeks His just reward of being seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven.
The saying gives too much comfort because Jesus set examples on His entire journey that God always listens to prayers. Jesus succeeded through prayers up until His last moments here with us.
So please allow me then to share my favorite prayer:
"Lord Jesus, the Son of God, help mercy on me, a sinner."
O Divine Jesus, through Your Face and Name save us. Our hope is in the virtue of Your Holy Name!

Why does this saying comfort us so much?
It was during these three hours of darkness that Jesus bore the penalty of our sins in His body on the tree. At the close of that time, He committed His spirit into the hands of God, His Father, and voluntarily yielded up His life. A Roman centurion was so overwhelmed by the scene that he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man!” This comforts us knowing that we will be spending eternity in heaven with our Lord.

Jesus was still actively in control as Victor rather than victim. His work was complete. In full faith and confidence He was saying, I'm going to die now and I place my Spirit in Your hands Father, knowing that I will be resurrected on the third day.
Why does this saying comfort us so much?
He is our model and our forerunner...as we get ready to leave this life, we can have the same confidence that we are in His hands even in death. He has promised He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Genesis 28:16-17
Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it." This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."
An encounter of God....

Jesus knows that, because of His death, He is going back to the Father. When He is back with His Father, He will once again, enjoy life the way the Father meant for life to be. His time here on earth is over, but He is not through with us!
We know that when our life here is over, then we will also be with the Father, and we will have life eternal, and we will be enjoying life in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We will go to the same eternal reward that Jesus went to! We are fellow heirs! Gloray! Brothers and Sisters, it just don't get any better than that! Gloray to God in the highest!

Jesus is giving up his spirit to God the Father. He will now live beside God, at his right hand. I am comforted because I know that Jesus' job here on earth is finished. And that he died for my sins(and yours) so that I can also have eternal life and live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Amen

the task was completed He accomplished what He came to do; now their relationship restored, he entrusts Himself into the hands of the One He trusts for His eternal destiny prepared for Him beforehand by the Father.
Because He rose from the dead we also can look forward to the same hope as He promised so many times in the Gospel to those who would receive Him and the completed work on the cross.eternal life and a righteousness that is from Him that changes our status from enemies of God to Children of God and co-heirs with Christ .praise God for His precious grace and wonderful gift of His Son but we should never forget the Horrible cost at which it came.

He spoke to His Father with an intimacy combined with trust and surrender. He knew what He was called to do was complete so He gave His Spirit over to His Father. In saying what He said, He was also witnessing to the crowd of His prophecy coming true at last.

His time on earth has ended and he will be united once again with His Father in Heaven.
Why does this saying comfort us so much?
This is a comfort to all believers because it tells us that when our life here is over, our new life begins with our Heavenly Father in His Kingdom.
There is more joy in Jesus in 24 hours than there is in the world in 365 days. I know, I've tried them both.

His life is in God's hands to do with as He pleases.
That we to that have the Faith and Confidence that when it is our time and our course on this Earth walk is finished,
and our Love for Jesus Christ Redeeming Salvation, we to have an eternal home and life with Him.

Luk 23:46 And Jesus gave a loud cry and said, Father, into your hands I give my spirit: and when he had said this, he gave up his spirit.
At the very end Jesus did not whisper but cried out to God...His Father...that He was coming home...and He has told us that we can go with Him. After saying it was finished...He went home what a glorious day that will be...when we can go home.
I just want to thank all involved in this study...as I said in the beginning my four children and I did this together and we were truly blessed by it.

Jesus meant was that he was trusting God with his life, as he let go of his earthly life, he knew God would be waiting to take him into his arms, into his eternal life. This should comfort us because God is waiting with open arms to receive us into his kingdom and our eternal life. To know that we have the same peace, the same Spirit that Jesus had.

That Jesus means when he says, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" is that he trusts his Father with his human life after it lets go and he trust his Father with his eternal destiny, too
This saying comforts us so much because it reassures us that there is life with God beyond death, and that God’ our Father, will give us that new life in heaven after our human life be let go

1. Jesus had finished what He came to do, then He committed His soul up to God. It also showed how much He trusted God.
2. This comforts us to know that when our life on earth is over, we have a chance to go to a new home.
