On my trip to Eldoret, Kenya I
learned about the Jamii Nursery School. Jamii means "family" in Swahili. It is a
Christian ministry dedicated to offering affordable quality education to
children in the Longas Estate slum.
30% of the children are from families that can't afford
the school fee -- many from a nearby displaced persons camp, children still
recovering from the trauma they experienced during the violence in January 2008
when they were forced to flee their homes. Jamii has a feeding program for these children.
If you'd like to give toward this fine work, please contact them directly. You can send funds to Kenya
either through MoneyGram or
Western Union for a small fee.
