Why is this verse so famous?

This speaks loudly a strong transmission of love and compassion. It speaks in our understanding of a difficult choice, but of God a necessary choice. it speaks of the utmost sacrifice. It speaks as well of faith and fate. I believe that it is well-know and widely recognized because it is perhaps the only single verse that conveys the Gospel. It speaks of the way to eternal salvation.

What does it teach us about God?

That God is love, that He loves his created beings that He said were very good. He does not approve of mans conduct when sin is involved, this sacrifice, this unspeakable gift Christ if received will allow for man to once again commune with Him as did Adam & Eve prior to sinning.

What does it teach us about salvation?

Salvation is desired for what God created and called very good, however man must chose to enter in.

Since "entering eternal life" is a synonym for "entering the Kingdom of God," what does this verse teach us about our destiny?

Our destiny depends upon us, as Joshua stated we must chose whom we will serve. This verse teaches that spiritual birth is necessary to "enter the kingdom of God"

This verse is famous because of it's ability to sum up the whole of the Bible.

We learn of God's love for mankind--a love few of us can ever understand.

We also learn of God's plan for our salvation--and that belief & acceptance is all that is needed--not earned.

We have the right to choose between accepting God's gift of salvation (by Jesus' sacrifice) and eternal life with Him forever or to reject it, thus leading to eternal death.

John 3:16 is both the core and the summary of the New Testament and, as a result, it is the favorite Scripture verse of many Christians.

John 3:16 teaches us that God is a tender, loving Father who cares dearly for all His created beings, made in His image. What father would love sinful humans to such an extent that He would allow His unique, begotten Son to suffer unspeakable pain, even death, for their sake!

John 3:16 shows us that salvation is never earned by us but is an incredible gift for those who will accept the sacrifice of the Son on their behalf. It is an incredible scenario

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

Why is this verse so famous?

I think this was one of the first verses we learned as children in Sunday School. It tells os God's goodness....His giving so that we might live.

What does it teach us about God?

It teaches us that God is a God of love, that he does not want anyone to perish....not just the Jewish people of the world.

What does it teach us about salvation?

It teaches that is a gift freely given by God and all we need to do is believe....that's it....

Q4. (John 3:16)

Why is this verse so famous?

I feel it sums up the Scriptures so simply and clearly.

What does it teach us about God?

God is love. He does not want anyone to perish, but for this not to happen we must acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour.

What does it teach us about salvation?

Salvation is only through Jesus Christ.

Since "entering eternal life" is a synonym for "entering the Kingdom of God," what does this verse teach us about our destiny?

As believers, we have been empowered by God to be able to spiritually discern the Kingdom of God; we know about it, and we know our eternal future is secure!

Q4. (John 3:16) Why is this verse so famous?

This verse is famous simply because it sums up the Gospel message. "God loved the world so much that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life". It's that simple. The rest of the New Testament just elaborates on that central theme.

What does it teach us about God?

God loves us in spite of ourselves, not because we're righteous. We needed Salvation and God provided it while we were sinners, just because we needed it.

What does it teach us about salvation?

Salvation is the gift of God in the person of Jesus, His only Son. We have to accept that gift by believing in Jesus and acknowledging Him as Lord and God.

This passage in the gospel of John tells us of the great breadth and width of God's love. Not an excluding love for just a few or for a single nation, but a redemptive love that embraces the whole world, and a personal love for each and every individual whom God has created. God is a loving Father who cannot rest until his wandering children have returned home to him. Saint Augustine says, God loves each one of us as if there were only one of us to love. God gives us the freedom to choose whom and what we will love. Jesus shows us the paradox of love and judgment. We can love the darkness of sin and unbelief or we can love the light of God's truth, beauty, and goodness. If our love is guided by what is true, and good and beautiful then we will choose for God and love him above all else. What we love shows what we prefer.

True love doesn't count the cost; it gives liberally. A true lover gives the best he has to offer and everything he has for the beloved. God proved his love for us by giving us the best he had to offer -- his only begotten Son who freely gave himself as an offering to God for our sake and as the atoning sacrifice for our sin and the sin of the world. Abraham's willing sacrifice of his only son, Isaac prefigures the perfect offering and sacrifice of God's beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

My prayer:

"Lord Jesus Christ, your love is better than life itself. May your love consume and transform my life that I may desire you above all else. Help me to love what you love, to desire what you desire, and to reject what you reject". Amen

Q4 This verse is so famous because it has spelt out clearly God's love for mankind and

how He has sacrificed His only Son for our salvation. This is God reaching out to us

sinners and telling us that there is hope if we but believe in Him. The pouring out

of His tremendous love for the redemption of mankind. The merciful god, an ever

loving and forgiving God.

If we but only believe that is the only criteria God is asking of us, then salvation

is ours. God wants to gather all His people back into His Kingdom. As a Father,

He cares for His children and not one of His will be perished and ended up in hell

and be tortured there. As Jesus said that He will leave the ninety nine sheep and

go all out to search for the one lost sheep and bring it back to safety and heaven

will rejoice over the repentant sinner.

God has given us a free choice. It is our choice to live eternal life with God in

His Kingdom or perish and ends up in the fire of torment in hell.

4. (John 3:16) Why is this verse so famous? It encapsulates everything which God has done, is doing and will do for us. In short, it is the very essence of our faith.

What does it teach us about God? That He is all loving and all forgiving

What does it teach us about salvation? That it is entirely God given, that we do nothing to earn or deserve it ourselves but it comes from God by His grace.

John 3:16 is so famous because it not only shows the extreme loving character of God, but of His purpose for mankind. When Christ was born, the angels sang, "Peace on Earth, Good will towards men." What a wonderful message from an Almighty God! Absorb it! God's purpose from the beginning of time was in Jesus.

This verse teaches us not only of God's love and purpose, but that salvation is for everyone. For anyone who believes in Jesus will be saved and not perish but have eternal life.

Entering Eternal life being synonymous with entering the Kingdom of God signifies that all who come to faith in Spirit, through belief in Jesus and His atoning sacrifice, will enter into the realm of the Kingdom of God and are no longer of the perishable but are imperishable. We no longer need to fear death. Though our bodies will wear out and die here, we will rise again and live on in eternity by our faith in Jesus.

Q4. (John 3:16) Why is this verse so famous? What does it teach us about God? What does it teach us about salvation? Since “entering eternal life” is a synonym for “entering the Kingdom of God,” what does this verse teach us about our destiny?

It sums up why Jesus came to earth, to die for the sins of mankind. It tells us that God is love and not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. When we receive Christ as Savior we pass from death, separation from God, to life eternal, when we die we will be with the Lord in heaven. Those who have the son has life, those who do not have the Son of God has not life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24

Q4. (John 3:16) Why is this verse so famous?

I think because it so succinctly and clearly shares the Gospel with everyone...it is not exclusive or conditional! It explains the fallen condition of everyone..no one is exempt from hell unless born again.

What does it teach us about God?

It teaches us the nature and character of God...that He loves and prizes His creation enough to sacrificially save all who will choose Him, from destruction, by sacrificing His One and only Son. It explains His plan for His creation. which was thwarted by sin, then His plan of Redemption.

What does it teach us about salvation?

Salvation is extended to each and every human being and that He made it so simple for us that we can't earn it... we only must receive His Son.

Since "entering eternal life" is a synonym for "entering the Kingdom of God," what does this verse teach us about our destiny?

It is forever! We are in the Kingdom now and when we die physically, we won't experience the second death, but will go on to live with Him in His Kingdom forever. We will finally experience life as He intended (before Adam fell and brought sin and death to us), in our glorified state in constant, intimate companionship with Him!!! Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus!
