Q1. A New Creation

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

Being a new creation, we no longer live to and for ourselves; Jesus Christ is now the centre of our lives. We see everything in a new light and we become more considerate of others as it’s not all about me. The lights of love, joy, peace, self-control, and kindness have been turned on within us. We now have the Holy Spirit in our hearts and with His help we gradually become more and more like Jesus. This sanctification takes time and we are no longer controlled by our sinful natures. Before conversion we did not possess the life-giving Holy Spirit who now lives within us and changes us from within. We read in Romans 8:9, “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.” Old habits and evil thoughts do not disappear immediately, but over time old things pass away and all things become new.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

They unite with Christ Jesus in faith, they are changed. Those who come to Him by faith, are changed, the woman at the well was changed. This declarative statement pertains to those united in Christ not to those buried alive (who are in themselves; they often may the statement "that's just how I am" justifying rude behavior among others).

Regarding the nature of a new believer there is a change produced in the renewed heart of man that is equivalent to the act of creation, there mindset has been renewed. "Be IN Christ" meaning having Christ dwelling in his heart (mind) by faith, that person is a new creature. As they are in Christ their thoughts of selfishness, deep prejudices, and **** for / of iniquity changes as we strive to love the Lord and others. The person his old status is changed: they were a child of Satan, they are now a child of God.

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

Their way of thinking, the way that they live, as they adhere to the Holy Spirit, as they refer to Christ His actions and or His guidance their outlook changes as does their motive. The prejudices, opinions, and habits are looked at differently. Our spirit agrees with His Spirit, not that of the world nor our own, but that our spirit agrees with His Spirit. This change is constantly being facilitated in the process of sanctification.

Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

It would be grand if every Christian had a Damascus road experience, some do and some do not. Coming from darkness to Light is a wonderful things, however the fondest someone held while living in darkness may have lingering influences. I have found that it is harder to break bad habits than it is to form lasting good habits.

God's Word is true, someone IN Christ is changed, they are a new creature, yet He did not remove the power, the freedom of choice. God is all power He can do anything, however what we know of His character He will not force us to do anything. He can and will strongly encourage; He may place challenges / test, and trials that gives us the opportunity to strengthen our faith. He may allow situations, circumstances or event to occurs, yet ultimately we have the power of choice and we must make a decision. Ceasing to commit to old habits for some is more difficult than it is for others. It isn't simply a process of "turning over a new leaf" or "getting your act together", sometimes it is a process. (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:10-12).

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? Where else could you go and get a deal like that, a new page of life begins and with God leading the way through prayer and fasting and can only get better, the best part is I now have someone I can depend on under any circumstance, if I hold up my part of Christianity under the direction of the Bible, the path will get rough sometimes, but that helps the growth. You Are a brand new person!!!!!

W

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? Everything will have a whole new outlook, because you are letting Christ lead, and keeping my trust and faith in Him, from what I read in the Bible in the end (WE WIN)

Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new? Some habits will take time, I but with God in control all things will eventually change, one thing about it God knows the heart, so don't use it as a crutch to keep old habits. Strive everyday to grow to the life of perfection, and you will never regret it.

God Bless;

When we are born again some things may change instanly while others may take decades to change. The direction is however constantly towards the likeness of Christ.(Although women don't have to grow the beard.)

God tends to deal with one issue at a time and seeks our co-operation as we progressively unlock different areas of our life to His will.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

He can reconcile with God now.

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

When you put your faith in Christ, the Spirit comes to live in you.

This gives another focus and hope.

Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

It's not the habit that changes, but your view on it.

Maybe you didn't even realize it's a bad habit, and you only learn this by the Bible.

Or you need divine help to overcome it.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

VS.17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, "old things have passed away; behold all things have become new. Because believers are united with Jesus both in His death and resurrection, they participate in the new creation. That is, they receive the benefits of being restored by Christ to what God had originally created them to be. A believers life should change because he or she is being transformed into the likeness of Christ. Old habits don't disappear immediately, unless it is a miracle. It took a long time to form these habits, and it sometimes takes time to get rid of them. As a new babe in Christ, we can and should strive to live as Christ would want us to do.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

Verse 17 tells us that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

When this happens we become reconciled with God. It was impossible before because sin had separated us from God. Through Jesus, we become Christ's ambassadors committed to the message of reconciliation. We now view others differently. We, who have received grace and forgiveness, can extend it to others. We no longer see from a worldly point of view because we know Christ died for all sinners. We see with spiritual eyes. "....so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than what is in the heart." and "......that those who live, should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again." Our whole viewpoint is changed in everything we do. Our hearts are changed. It's not about us, but about the one we love and His Kingdom.

Old habits don't disappear immediately because, we are in a learning process, walking with Jesus as we learn. The Holy Spirit in us, helps us to give up old habits and begins to renew our minds, that in turn, alter how we think and our reactions to circumstances around us or in tolerating sin within us. Love is the motivating factor. We may struggle in areas of our lives, but now we have a helper who can overcome anything. Our spiritual minds know the promises of God and draws on them, but we who have learned a worldly way since birth and are deluged by worldly standards and have even gotten caught up in sin and addictions and wrong actions and selfishness, must relearn and be washed in the Word to continue in change. It's our sanctification. In the Spirit we ARE a new creation and can draw on that promise as we go through the process of change. It's our motivation and our truth we believe to keep going when satan tries to level lies against us and tries to make us want to give up.

Answer:

1. What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

That we are a New Creation..old things, the former things when we have not seen the light, the former things when we are yet illuminated(Hebrews 10:32-But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; )..ARE PASSED AWAY.

The true Nature of a beleiver, happens in The SPIRIT REALM..the old Sinful Nature that we have when we inherited the Fallen Nature of Adam was changed completely, once and for all when we make Jesus our Lord and Personal Savior..

2.What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

HIS SPIRITUAL NATURE(For we are a 3 part being...SPIRIT,SOUL,BODY...-1 Thess 5:23-And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.)

3. Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

Old Habits is in our SOULISH REALM..as we continue to RENEW OUR MIND DAILY,who we are in CHRIST..this old habits began to disappear without,us really struggling.

It is just not there anymore,as our Spirit Nature take hold of our Soul, giving direction to our Body,to be subjected by the Spirit.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

Our old way of looking at life and living it has changed. We now look at things through God's eyes by the power of the Holy Spirit. We desire to live for Christ, we are excited by His Word, we eagerly desire to learn more about God and His love for us, His grace, His mercy.

We are still in this body of sin and decay and the old nature still fights to retain control. Old habits can be hard to break and we still have to learn that somethings are no longer right for us.

God Bless!

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

About the nature of a new believer, verse 17 teaches us that, the new believer does not only get a religion but becomes a new creation as that person is changed in some fundamental ways.

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

When a person puts his faith in Christ, what changes in him is the life which now is being nurtured by the Holy Spirit.

Why don't old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

Old habits do not disappear immediately even if everything has become new because the changes begins on the inside. This inward change is supposed to affect and alter the outward life as well. This is a slow process that requires the cooperation of the person himself.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

The old previous moral and spiritual condition has passed away and the fresh and new has come! We're new creatures in Christ when he comes to live in us. We now have a choice of whether or not to sin, whereas before, we were in total bondage to Satan and our old fallen nature! Our chains are gone!

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

Everything! We go from hell as our destination, to eternal life in Heaven with the Lord. We leave the kingdom of darkness and enter the kingdom of light. We are new members of God's kingdom instead of prisoners to the life of the world, the flesh and the devil. Our desires change, our heart is changed from one of stone to a tender heart like Jesus'. We are able to forgive rather than holding grudges and bitterness and resentment! We go from no relationship or intimacy with God, to a personal relationship as His dear children, and joint heirs with Christ! We leave fruitless lives behind and begin to live lives which produce fruit for the Kingdom of God and to store up treasures in Heaven.

Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

I read Ben Patterson's book as a new Christian and was asking "Why is it taking me so long to get better?" (his book title). He likened the conversion experience to when the Marines landed on an island. They only have a toe hold on the beach, but they radio back to the ship "The island is secure".

The Holy Spirit now has a "toe hold" on the beaches of our lives when we accept Jesus, and like the Marines gaining ground inch by inch of the enemy held territory, He gradually, lovingly moves us more and more into the things of Christ. The "island" of our lives IS secure when He comes to live in us, but it takes time for the "new creature" to permeate the old ruts, habits, sin nature, attacks from the devil and our strong wills.

Verse 17 says we are a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

The Holy Spirit regenerates us, we're washed, renewed & sealed in Him.

We're being changed from the inside out. It takes time to undo lifetime habits!

Verse 17 teaches us that, it tells us that as a new believer old things are past away that is our past life and from the moment

that you as God to come in your life everything become new.

When a person put his faith in Christ he put his life in us.

Old hadits don't go away easily because it is a process and it take time.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

17 “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (5:17) “Paul calls them "a new creation." "Creation/creature" is ktisis, "the result of a creative act, that which is created."

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

When we truthfully and 100 percent placed our faith in Christ, we become a new creation. Everything starts, your sins are all paid for. Start a new fresh live.

“The New Testament uses several other words to describe this, including:

  • Born again/anew/from above (John 3:3, 5; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 3:9; 5:18)

  • Made alive, quickened (Ephesians 2:5; John 5:24; 1 John 3:14)

  • Regenerated, rebirth (Titus 3:5)

  • Washed (1 Corinthians 6:11; Ephesians 5:26; Titus 3:5)

  • Renewed (Ephesians 3:10)

  • Sealed (2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13; 4:30)“

We Christians believe that when Jesus saves us and puts his Holy Spirit in our hearts that a life-altering change has taken place. A new life has been formed by the Creator, which is being nurtured by the Holy Spirit.”

Why don't old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

When you live become new as in a new creation, everything takes time. It is a process and patience is part of God's plan. We have to cooperate work with God: continuously praying and hoping in new faith.

What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

Verse 17 teaches us that the nature of a new believer has been renewed / changed.

When a person puts his faith in Christ He becomes a new creature. His master changes and his heart begins to change. His focus also changes, it is no longer about living for self but it is about living to please God.

There are some cases in which old habits disappear immediately. However, in those cases where they don't I believe that it is a battle of the wills. Even though we may realise that we are new and that our lives should be different our old nature still struggles with our new nature. I use this analogy: your old self and your new self are like two dogs; for all your life you have fed one dog (your old self) and then you feed your new life and put them to fight. The one you have been feeding all your life is stronger and is the one most likely to win. However, over time and you begin to nurture your new self by reading the Word, spending time in prayer, fasting, etc then the new self becomes stronger and is more likely to succeed in the face of temptations.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? He is a new creation. Changed, altered.

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? His heart, his viewpoint, his outlook on life.

Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new? Because they are HABITS. Kneejerk reactions. As we mature in our faith, become more like God wants us to be, these habits will begin to die off. We will be more in prayer, be more able to put others first.

Verse 17 teaches us that the new believer becomes a new creature in Christ. They are born again and regenerated spiritually. They are sealed to God eternally. The new believer still has to battle with their sin condition every day. Old habits don't disappear immediately. Every noticeable change depends on how much the new believer surrenders their life and habits to Christ. It's a lifetime process that doesn't stop until we die.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer?

Verse 17 teaches us, "IF" any man be in Christ, the old self, that of "sin", will no longer be the fruits he will continue to produce, we who are in Christ henceforth are now required to, and are able to, put aside our sinful ways, and make way for the “NEW CREATURE” to come to life, because the heart now sees things in a new light, as Saul did.

"IF" we be in Christ, we will see what the Cross is able to do for those who believe, and the great responsibility the Cross places on the believer, that is “IF” Christ be in them, for the new creatures calling is that of "HOLINESS".

What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ?

The biggest change will occur on the heart; no longer will the calling of the heart be that of pleasing self, old habits are passing away and are being replaced with a new creature, whose desire is that of pleasing God.

Why don't old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

We are not told old habits will immediately disappear, it means "IF" Christ be in us there "WILL BE" a change, adjustments will be seen in the believer, why? because old things are passing away, we will be neglecting the old habits of "SIN", all things are becoming new, fresh as we continue to follow the calling on our hearts, as we neglect and put aside the old person, making provisions for the new person to come forth, that is "IF" Christ be in us, the new creation will be seen, old habits will have disappeared.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 5:16-17) What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

The new believer has been given a new nature from God. When a person puts their faith in Christ they receive this new nature and the old nature has passed away. Old habits don't disappear immediately because we still live in this body of flesh that needs to be submitted to and lead by the new nature. As we submit to God, read and study the scriptures and pray and just spend time in God's presence and at the same time deny the flesh, the new nature grows and the old one fades away.

What does verse 17 teach us about the nature of a new believer? What changes in a person when he puts his faith in Christ? Why don’t old habits disappear immediately if everything has become new?

1) Verse 27 teaches us that we are changed on the inside. We have new life and we are not the same anymore. We do not do the things nor go places that we use to.

2) The changes in a person when he put his faith in Christ is their whole attitude. They live their lives for Jesus.

3) Old habits do not disappear immediately because we are a work in process. As we mature in Christ old habits will begin to disappear.
