What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples' lives?

1st the Word tells us Who we are serving. We will never know God if we don't know how He acts and how much He can do.

The Word also teaches us how we have to live, how to serve God. How we are to receive Christ and the Holy Spirit. As disciples it also teaches us how to convey the message to others and what to teach those we are leading to Christ.

Does it have a power of its own?

Yes. Christ is the Word as well. The Word is God inspired.

How does that seem to operate?

God communicated to us through the Word. He teaches us throught the Word. The Word was with God right from the beginning. Since it is God inspirered the Word gives us all the Wisdom and knowlage we need

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

We are not bringing people to a religion, but to God. And God gave us tools to do it with. The most important tools are the Word of God, experiance of living with God, God's Spirit that guides and teaches us and the church where we receive teachings, support and upliftment

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples' lives?

The Word of God is the Messiah, God's Son, it is also God's teaching word of "TRUTH" that God’s Word will live in we who "BELIEVE", and we who "ACT" on that belief, so that we will be a witness to others, as they see God molding us into a new creation as promised, a new creation is one that strives after that of holiness, a life worthy of the walk, so that we may give "PRAISE" as we offer up to God our lives, a living sacrifice for Him to mold for sending to us His Son, His Passover Lamb, The Living Word.

Does it have a power of its own?

It is all powerful.

How does that seem to operate?

It operates from our "WILL", allowing the Word to come alive in us.

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

If our lives are not living proof that the Word of God does live in our lives, and is all powerful, then the implication would be proof that what we say is not true.

The Word is primary. It exposes the parts of us that the Holy Spirit has to be at work in us to change and grow. It is the eternal truth where we learn about God and His works.

Yes there is Power in the Word! It operates through the Holy Spirit.

As a discipler, we encourage daily Bible reading, studying and memorization to become familiar with the Word.

The word of God is the truth which sets us free. It is Jesus ,it is the Bread of Life. Man cannot live by bread alobe but every word that comes from the mouth of God. It is the light and lamp to my path. It is a guideline by which the disciples' are taught to live .

It is the word of God and yes it has power when spoken and believed and acted upon.

It seems to operate through our faith and the Spirit of God dwelling in us.

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

What is the role of the Word of God in moulding disciples' lives?

Does it have a power of its own?

How does that seem to operate?

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The Word of God is the means by which people are born again; for without the Word no one would know that salvation was available or even know the way of salvation. This is seen in Romans 10:14, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? As the disciples hear or read the Word they become convicted of their sins and come to realise that only through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ can they ever be saved. It has a further vital role in moulding the lives of disciples, even completely transforming their lives. The effectiveness of the gospel is seen as believers become imitators of Christ. Jesus Himself told us in Matthew 4:4, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” So we see that our spiritual life is maintained by the daily nourishment with the Word of God. It is the Holy Spirit that empowers the disciples to persevere and continue to be Christians throughout their lives.

What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives?

It is all impotant to the disciple. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is God-breathed, and is useful in teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Does it have a power of its own?

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The power of the Word of God goes beyond our ability to comprehend.

How does that seem to operate?

Isaiah 55:10-11 As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return from it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seeds for the sower and bread for the eater, so my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

An effective discipler of others, needs to know God's Word; to hold on, rely upon, and cling to it. Because it is the answer for all of life's questions and is relevant in all situations they may face as a discipler of others.

What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples' lives?

It provides the known Will of God, it provides the guideline to follow /live. The Word as received is REALLY the teacher, when received it nourish and nurture, it provides spiritual growth.

Does it have a power of its own?

He is ALL Power

How does that seem to operate?

Majestically, by way of the Holy Spirit

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the

Word?

It is implied that the discipler is in agreement with the Word of God, as he/she is in agreement with the Word he/she will then be the sowerer or the waterer and God will provide the increase. If the discipler is not in agreement with The Word of God they will present a disorted view of the Lord and all that extends from the Lord. The latter is not good the discipler need to reassess, and repent, our actions, our acts have implications (spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically). If we want to serve God, we are to do so that way that He wants us to. Anything outside of His Will is not His Will, it is a facet of our will, our spirit, and this could be adverse, a determent to potential disciples.

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives?

The Word of God is Spirit and life! It is the two edged sword which cuts to bone and marrow....It is truth and "cuts" out and reveals error, pitfalls, false doctrine, etc. It tells us how and where to walk in safety. It is the Owner's manual, the guide book for living. It is the foundation and the building blocks in our lives. To think that a disciple can be molded without it is ludicrous and dangerous.

Does it have a power of its own?

Absolutely! It is God breathed, alive, active...It's the voice of our creator to us in the written Word.

How does that seem to operate?

It exercises super human power in those who adhere to and trust and rely on it. (amplified) It has the power and is the vehicle the Lord uses to renew our minds, and to impart wisdom, and encouragement, and is a key way He reveals Who He is. It's HIS-story from cover to cover. It reveals all we need to know!

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

I think the implication is that the discipler study to show him/her self approved, and to rightly divide the Word, so as to teach truth, and not error, through ignorance of the whole counsel of God. To study and to avoid taking obscure passages out of context , or to focus on trivia..(which Goliath had 6 toes and 6 fingers and was he the Goliath David killed, for instance and other nonsense "bird walks"). To convey to the disciple that scripture is a key way that the Lord speaks to individuals, therefore to read the Word with open heart and mind for what the Holy Spirit is saying...that it is more critical than food, if it comes to that, in the life of the disciple. To teach the love of God's Word, and the love of God for each of us, as shown in the Word is critical to the discipler.

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives? Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate? What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The word disciple means to be a learner, a pupil of a master. The Word of God is living and active and is a powerful agent for change, growth and discipleship to grow in the likeness of Christ for the sake of others.

Once we have heard the word and believe it, we should continue believing. God invites us to live from faith to faith.

We need to constantly be renewed in the spirit of our minds. Attitudes begin in our minds and are renewed by the Word of God and therefore we need to read daily.

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any doubled-edged sword, it penetrates even to diving soul and spirit, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart". Hebrews 4: 12. Jesus said : I am the way, Jesus has certain ways of doing things and if we submit to His way everything will work out, but so often we wrestle and struggle with Him, trying to do things our way. We must live in obedience.

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives? Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate? What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

The role of the Word of God in molding disciples' lives is summed up best in Paul's pastorial letter to Timothy: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." II Tim 3:16-17 (NIV)

The Word of God contains the truth and power that God has given. When applied to one's life the Word of God changes/transforms the individual through the power and interaction of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. John said: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1 (NIV)

Q5. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) What is the role of the Word of God in molding disciples’ lives?

The Word of God is and should always be the foundation of all Christian teaching. In moulding disciples' lives it's vital that we ground them well in the Word of God and back up the things we teach them with sound Biblical doctrine.

Does it have a power of its own? How does that seem to operate?

Yes I believe the Word of God is alive and a double-edged sword. To proclaim the Word of God, backed up of course by the Holy Spirit, is the way to reach people. Living a Godly life is important too but there's something about speaking the Word of God that will get us over the line. My bass player is a very easy going affable man who wouldn't hurt a fly. He wouldn't say a bad word about anyone and he's helpful and generous to a fault. But he's an athiest. When you get to really know him you discover that he's amoral and ungodly and the only reason he's so affable is because he did too many drugs back in the 1970s. But on the surface he seems a really good man. The point I'm trying to make here is that it's sometimes not enough to just live out the Christian life. We have to let the words we speak be those God would have us speak. We have to actually speak of the things of the Lord unto Salvation.

What are the implications for disciplers of this powerful action of the Word?

Well, for one thing, we need to guard our tongues and we also need to be well grounded in the Word of God. The Gospel is the power of God unto Salvation.
