Q6. the Peace of the Messiah

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

The passage speaks in figurative language. What kind of peace does it describe? Absolute peace

How far will this peace extend? All inclusive including animals

According to Isaiah 11:9b, why will there be peace? Verse 9 sums up the peace "on all my holy mountain" -- which sounds like the whole earth and the reason for that peace -- "the knowledge of the Lord."

What does “the knowledge of the Lord” mean? Here the prophet speaks of a personal relationship with the Lord, not just an intellectual awareness of him.

How widespread will this “knowledge” be?  To bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ."(Ephesians 1:9-10)

Isaiah poetically speaks of a time of perfect harmony and perfect peace as it was in the beginning.

However, we are to keep in mind that the Kingdom of God is "now"! Not some distant future time and place, but here and now! Jesus never abandoned his people, he never left his people orphaned, for his kingdom is here and now, he is actually and literally present to everyone who actually believes and possess his knowledge and understanding. Those outside of this knowledge and understanding guff and wag their heads in disbelief. This no differently than many of Jesus Christ's disciples could not accept nor believe that they had to eat and drink his flesh and blood to have eternal life in Him, thus they turned their back upon their one time lord never to walk with him again. Only a few disciples including the Virgin Mary the first and greatest disciple of Jesus, and eleven of Jesus's apostles actually believed this truth and this knowledge and understanding. Again, the majority rejected this truth, this knowledge, this understanding. Though many have come to believe over these past 2,000 years, the majority continue to guff and wag their heads in disbelief.

As we proclaim in the Lord's Prayer, "...on earth as it is in heaven..."

Isaiah 11:6-9 speaks figuratively. The kind of peace it describes is the peace we will see in the Messianic Age. Natural enemies will live in absolute peace with each other. Everything will be brought under one head, Christ and all will have the knowledge of Him. This peace will extend "On all my holy mountain" which is the whole earth. This peace will be because "the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the sea is full of water."

We ask today, to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus because we desire to know Him and be like Him. At the time of this peace, this will be accomplished and we will all know Him personally and live at peace with Him and each other because of our changed hearts through Him. We see this somewhat now as we are sanctified, but then it will be complete. This knowledge will be so widespread as to encompass the whole earth, as well as in Heaven and under the Earth. At this time,

"At the name of Jesus every knee will bow in Heaven and on Earth and under the Earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father."

You are deserving of all praise, glory and honor our great and marvelous King!!! Grow us in the grace and knowledge of You!

AMEN!!!

It will be a time of absolute peace, wherein natural enemies will live in peace with each other.

This peace will extend over all the earth.

The reason for this peace will be the knowledge of the Lord.

The knowledge of the Lord means that people will have personal relationship with the Lord and not just and intellectual awareness of him.

Every person in heaven and on earth and under the earth will bow down to Jesus and confess that He is Lord.

Q6. (Isaiah 11:6-9) The passage speaks in figurative language. What kind of peace does it describe? How far will this peace extend? According to Isaiah 11:9b, why will there be peace?   What does "the knowledge of the Lord" mean? How widespread will this "knowledge" be?

The peace described here is the peace that existed in the Garden of Eden before sin entered in.  It will cover the earth.

There will be peace because of the knowledge of the Lord, a knowledge that is experienced in a personal relationship with the Lord such as Adam and Eve had with the Father before they sinned.  All creation has been groaning because of sin.  Now “the land will be full of the knowledge of the Lord.”

Q6. (Isaiah 11:6-9) a) The passage speaks in figurative language. What kind of peace does it describe?

The Hebrew word Shalom means “peace,”  which coveys the idea of prosperity, well-being, health, wholeness, completeness, and safety. It speaks of wholeness of person describing a state in which one is healthy spiritually, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually.
Shalom describes a positive relationship between friends, parties, and even nations.it describes a state in which friends and even nations live together, dwelling with each other without any strife, not simply the “absence of war.” It pictures people living together in harmony.including natural enemies and animals

B)   How far will this peace extend?

This peace will exend over the whole earth.

c)   According to Isaiah 11:9b, why will there be peace?

The reason for the peace will be that every one will have the  Knowledge of the Lord

d)   What does "the knowledge of the Lord" mean?

By “knowledge of the Lord” one means that apart from  mere awareness of the Lord by Hearing or Reading about Him : not a academic perception but ONE SHOULD HAVE a personal relationship and close fellowship with the Lord.

e)   How widespread will this "knowledge" be?

The knowledge of the Lord will be all over the world …worldwide…  but You have to develop this personal relationship and close fellowship with the Lord which will give Peace

How do we get this personal relationship and close fellowship with the lord?

Isaiah 26:3 says  “You  will keep  them in perfect peace  who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on You.” If  you put your faith, your trust in Jesus, and keep your thoughts fixed on Him, on Yeshua, our Messiah, our Peace.” Walk with Him every second. Concentrate on Him every moment in everything you do. Keep looking to Him, not to your problems, troubles, hardships, difficulties, or woes, THEN  HE WILL KEEP YOU IN PERFECT PEACE. ALWAYS”.

The world will be transformed from a place where conflict, fear, and the "survival of the fittest" rule--to a world where total peace resides with all men AND creation. True rest and "sabbath" (which was the climax of God's creation all process) is restored. The change will be global and "the knowledge of The Lord" will be evident since all will know God personally and confess that He is Lord of all. The curse of Genesis 3: 17-18 will be reversed.

One good thing about chiming in late is the rest of you guys so thoroughly answer the questions, i get to just say "Amen" :-)

I just want to add to the question..."Why will there be peace?"

When the earth is filled with the knowledge of God we become ONE....no longer individuals seeking our own needs, but we will realize how God is in us and we are in God.   God is in us and we are in each other.  We are connected by a spiritual bond and the presence of God.  This means we cannot kill or hurt our neighbors because we see the grace of God in them. The disciple John elaborated on this concept in 1 John 4: " Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born again because of what God has done. That person knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love."

Isaiah 11:6-9 speaks about a harmony among all people. The strong and the weak, the rich and the poor, the harmful and the harmless will live in peace with each other.

its a heavenly and a divine peace which extends throughout the whole earth.

The Knowledge of the lord means a personal relationship with the Lord. Knowing the ways of the Lord and walking in those ways, knowing the lord intimately and growing in his fullness is to Know the Lord.

This knowledge will spread like waters cover the sea.

Lesson 2 - 6

This peace is the peace of God as provided by the Messiah, the Prince of Peace; it is the type of peace that exists in heaven and we pray for this peace when we pray ‘Thy Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven'. This peace will extend "...on all my Holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea". (V9). Verses 6 & 9 describe a figurative time of peace than can o ly be brought forth by a transformation of creation by God through Jesus Christ, and it is this transformation for which we work and pray but the remarkable transformation, this new creation can only be brought about by God.

The kind of peace that is described is on that everybody and animal will all get along. There will be no more fighting and everything will be tranquil. What a blessing that will be. There will be this peace because they will know the Lord.

The knowledge of the Lord means that we will understand our position in eternity and will have the knowledge to exercise that understanding. This knowledge will be spread even to animal kingdom.
