Q3. (1 Corinthians 1:18, 23-24; Romans 1:16; Acts 17:2-3) Why might Paul be tempted to underemphasize a "crucified Messiah" when preaching to the Jews? Why are we sometimes tempted to tell others how great it is to follow Christ while not telling them the other aspects of the gospel? Why is it so important that we are honest about the gospel?

Paul preaching to the Jews in Corinth is focused  on the saving fact of Christ crucifixion  This method of execution was considered so crude it was not even mentioned in polite economy.

Sometime it is more important to witness to people about the greatness of Christ.  This is because they are still in the milk stage of believer when they start growing into maturity and are ready to the word then the understanding of the gospel will come into being.

The Gospel is the key witnessing to others. We can not add nor subtract.  It is the power in the word that convict and convert a person to repentance

Q2. (Acts 16:25; Philippians 4:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Why do you think we are commanded to “Rejoice always”? What is our natural tendency when we’re under stress? What does rejoicing and thanking have to do with faith? In what circumstance do you find difficulty praising God?

Joy is a fruit of the spirit and also a basic mark of christian.

Natural tendency when one is under stress is to be unhappy and troubled; but if we obey the commandment of "Rejoice always" just like Paul and Silas did in the prison they are in a very distressed situation but they prayed and give praises to God this led to chains broken, locked doors open and joy overflow.

it makes our faith very strong .

When I am unhappy, distressed and after some time I fall back on praising God and all things will be come to normal and the burden becomes lighten.

Q1. (Acts 16:1-3) Why does Paul circumcise Timothy, even though his principles don't require him to? Why does Paul "become all things to all people" (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)? In what ways does the path of serving Jesus require humility rather than demanding our rights?

Paul circumcise Timothy because of the Jews who were in those places because he always begin in the synagogue, having an uncircumcised jew with him would have made any witness to Jews much more difficult. Paul became a jew to the jew; to those under the law to be also and to all so that he could win everyone to Christ.

In serving Jesus we have to put on humility be to everyone and witness so that they accept christ.

  4. Q3. (Philippians 3:7-8) How do legalism and the resulting spiritual pride prevent us from trusting in Christ by faith, and knowing him? How has your pride in yourself kept you from drawing closer to Jesus?.

It depends on how we look at the situation. I am a single parent and a reader in the church, to a pastor who believes that it is not legal for me to teach the word since I am not under an authority; his legalism does not affect me because all I believe is in the word of God and my salvation is important.

All my life I have always been asking God for the spirit of humility. No matter what I will withdraw and go back to God in prayer to energizes me.

  5.  (Acts 9:10-18) Why do you think God sends Ananias to Paul rather than revealing directly?
Why does Ananias argue with God?
Why does it take courage to obey?
What does Ananias do and say?
Have you ever had God guide you to talk with someone and minister to him or her?
    Have you followed through?

My personal opinion is that God send Ananias to Paul so that he can be baptised. He needs someone to talk to him about Jesus and monitor him in growing,

Like any other person  Ananias has heard about Saul manners, how he has dealt with the disciples in Jerusalem.  He has been given permission by the leaders before he met Christ on his way.

Ananias is a matured christian and having been study the word he has learnt over the time to depend on God's instruction. He never that once an instruction is given by God He has already equipped the person.

He followed the instructions as he was given.

Q1. (Acts 9:4-5; 26:14) Why does persecuting Christ's people constitute persecuting Christ himself? What kinds of goads or prods have you seen God use on you to move you along Christ's path? When you "kick against the goads" is it harder on you or on God?

Christ's people are new creatures. Any persecution again them is persecuting Christ himself. On a peraonal ground my marriage is the goads that God used in drawing me more and refining me to better relationships
