  1. Pride is what I feel when looking at my treasured possessions. Most would argue that children is our most treasured possession. Israel was God treasured possession and although there is pride like a child there is also disappointment in behavior. Being Gods treasured possession as christians gives us a sense of safety. Like having a parent provide for us and look after us.

  2. God provided Manna in order to sustain his people and to make them believe in him. Manna ceased when they arrived at the promised land and when God expected them to provide for themselves. Like alot of people...having all things being provided to you runs the risk of creating an environment of lazyness. People become accustomed to being provided for and lose their initiative. When times are good...we have a tendency to forget that all things are provided by God and it is he that provides our good fortune. Being thankful to God for our many gifts is the first thing that is typically forgotten when good fortune comes our way.

  3. If leaders are following the teachings of God...then grumbling will be against God not the earthborn leader. If the leader is not acting in accordance with God's teachings or through God's direction then directed complaints could be truly placed with the leader. Leaders take complaints personally because they are not in touch with God's teachings and to not accept that all things happen in accordance with God's plan. It take understanding of God's power, will and teachings are involved all day, every day of your life.

  4. The reasons people grumble and complain is fear and lack of faith. In most cases fear is brought about by lack of control and the unknown. In this case those complaining were not in control but followers of Moses. Just like today...most people grumble about those in leadership positions in fear of what they will do that affects our way of life. Faith that God will bring about an outcome that has a purpose and no matter what that outcome that it is in accordance with God's plan. Praying and taking action to solve the problem is better than complaining and grumbling.

  5. God's glory is important in the Exodus to let the world know that "there is a new Sheriff in town."

Recognition of his glory is important in that through our fear in God we obey his laws.

When leaders take credit for achievements instead of bestowing them unto the Glory of God...then they upset God for it is he that provides our talents and abilities. Leaders can keep themselves from pride by praising God for their successes and failures.

  6. They blame Moses because at this point Moses is leading them through God...God is speaking to Moses and not the Israelites.

Their fear is motivated by what they see before them in the real world as opposed what they do not completely understand in the spiritural world.

They are really blaming God through Moses.

Moses takes all the blame upon himself.

Moses takes the blame upon himself because of the non-mature relationship that he has with God. Moses at this point only is taking orders from God and does not have a complete understanding of God's ways.

The Isarelites have to respond by doing what Moses says...otherwise their fate is doomed...they have no other option at this point.

  7. Without obedience the people of Israel would not have been delivered from Egypt

Without obedience we as a people will not be delivered into the Kingdom of God

Without "followership" (obedience) there cannot be good leadership.

Those who believe but do not obey do not have "Real Faith" but will have questions as to their deliverance on Judgement Day. Those who have "real faith" will not be questioning their deliverance on Judgement Day.

  8. 1. We are afraid to do what God puts in our hearts in some cases because of what we think other will think of us.

    2. Some run away from fear while others confront it.

    3. Fear is an emotional reaction to a threatening situation while courage is our ability to overcome our fears and confront the situation

    4. Courage is required of leaders in order to motivate others during stressful times and to overcome the temptation to do what is popular vs what is right.

  9. I believe that Moses response to God's call reflects low humility (ability to accomplish the mission assigned) and lack of faith in God being able to provide him the tools needed. God reassures him by demonstrating his power and abilities. God reassures us during times of impossible situations by providing reassurance through either delivering the answer to our prayers (guidance for the situation or providing help from others).
