  1. Giving is one of the gifts mentioned in Romans 12:6-8. It is part of the ministry and God rewards all who work for His kingdom.

As the scripture shows in 2Cor 9:11 Paul says that they will be made rich so they can be generous all the time.

Although I believe tithing is one of the Old Testament laws that was done away with when the new covenant was made, I do think that we are all to give all we can to not only support our church but also the missions and people who are in need. The only New Testament reference that I can find to tithing is when Jesus is talking to the Pharisees in Mt23:23. I believe that when He told them not to neglect the others He was speaking to them as Jews, who still had that custom. When the big controversy was going on about the Gentiles keeping the Jewish laws it was made quite clear that the Gentile Christians were not meant to take on the Jewish customs. Forgive me Pastor Ralph, but I think that church leaders have decided to keep this law in effect in order to get more revenue for their churches.

  2. A prosperity doctrine can threaten Christian ministry because it can cause someone to turn to God for the wrong reasons. I have heard quite a few preachers preach if you pay your tithes then you will get back ten-fold. I have seen a lot of people pay tithes because they believe that expecting to get out of the financial trouble that they are in and there are no results. Sure there are people who do reap when they pay tithes, but there are just as many who suffer great financial burdens when they do. Enough said about tithes that is a whole other topic that I don

  3. We are to hold fast the Word, we are to live it. It is not enough to just believe, even Satan believes the Word of God. He quotes scripture, but we are to put that Word to use in our daily lives. The purpose of the Church is to seek and save those that are lost. How can we get others to live the Word if we are not living IT ourselves? If we are applying it to our every day lives then we won

  4. Jesus was really human. He was born, He lived and He died. He felt emotions and pain. These verses teach that He was human not just pretending. It makes a big difference whether Jesus was really human or not. The reason God came to earth as man was to provide a way to our salvation. Since Satan had taken control of the earth when Adam and Eve sinned, God needed a man that would be able to take back the possession of the earth. If He was not human this would not have been able to be accomplished.

  5. Paul asks for discernment so that the Philippians will know what is pleasing to God. The result will be a closer relationship with God. The better we know what pleases or displeases a person the better we are equipped to do those things that will make that person happy. By being selfish in our relationships we are looking at what we want and not at the needs and desires of the other person. We lose sight of making that person happy. In the most important relationship, that one with God, we risk losing the relationship that we do have. We see over and over in the Old Testament that He is a jealous God. He wants to be first and foremost in our lives. By striving for the good things in this life, we are getting our gratification from the riches of this world instead of from God and doing what pleases Him. God is the best thing in our lives and by desiring those things more than Him we can destroy that relationship. This is only relationship that really matters. I want to know what is pleasing to God, I look forward to hearing those words
