Q3. (Psalm 133) What about this short psalm seems to attract you? Why is "dwelling together in unity" so difficult? What kinds of commitments does unity require of us? How do the principles of unity and purity seem to conflict with each other? Why are reconciliation and unity such high values in Jesus' teaching, do you think?
What attracts me of this small Psalm is the first verse. "It is good and pleasant when God's people live together in peace!"
Dwelling in unity is difficult because everyone has different ways of viewing the same picture. We all have different opinions and ideas.
If we are to dwell in unity we should stop the me myself and I syndrome. We are to help one another, and pray for one another as God himself says in His word.
The Lord said for us to love one another...
I seem to be boggled with the pinciples of unity and purity. I could not seem to put my answer to words. Sorry.

Q2. (Psalm 15) The Wisdom Psalms are meant to instruct us. How would you use this psalm in your family to instruct your children? What topics of right living does it cover?
That as children of God we are to live an honest life. We are not to lie about others, or to each other. We are not to take (steal) what does not belong to us. We are to lift up (help, pray) one another, and not hurt others. To always speak the truth. That all who do what is right will never be destroyed.

Q1. (Psalm 1). This short psalm seems to reaffirm what we already know: the righteous will succeed and the wicked will perish. Why do we need to be reminded of this? From an emotional standpoint, what lines in this psalm stand out to you. Why do you think you like them?
For in today's society what is good is wrong and what is wrong is good. I for one need to be reminded that the ones who do what is right will succeed, and for those who do what is wrong will not succeed. Even though for the moment they seem to be succeeding, but when the time comes they will perish.
Line #3 stand out to me: They are strong, like a tree planted by a river. The tree produces fruit in season, and its leaves dont't die. Everything they do will succeed.
It tells me that I am strong and planted firmly as I read His word every day and night. It also tells me that in everything I do, according to His word, I will succeed.

I decided to memorize Psalm 63:1-8. The writer gives a powerful exhortation of his love and worship of God. I love how the words flowed from my heart even as I read them and want them to some day soon flow freely from my lips prompted by the love I feel in my heart for my Father God.
Before I go to bed I read Psalm 4 as a prayer back to God.
Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God
Give me relief from my distress;
be merciful to me and hear my prayer.
How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? Selah
Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself;
the Lord will hear when I call to him.
In your anger do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent. Selah
Offer right sacrifices
and trust in the Lord
Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord.
You have filled my heart with greater joy
than when their grain and new wine abound.
I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O Lord,
make me dwell in safety.
My favorite part is "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord make me dwell in safety".

Q3. (Psalm 63) Why is recognition that God loves you the basis of all faith? What does this realization bring about in your life?
Because without faith its impossible to please God. Gods' love for us is unconditional. For though we were all sinners, Christ died for us.
This realization brings to me that God has loved me even before my own parents loved me. Even though I cannot be certain of the love that they might have had for me, I know for sure that my God, my Father, loved me, loves me now, and forever will love me. That even though I am not a perfect being, but He being perfect, loves the imperfect me. God is love...

Q2. (Psalms 42-43). What is the psalmist feeling during this spiritual struggle? How does he combat his spiritual depression? Have you ever felt this way? How did you reach out to God at this time?
He is feeling a thirst for the living God, and wants a meeting with Him. As he pours out his soul or maybe cry out to God, he remembers the days he would go to the house of God leading the peoples in procession with shouts of gladness. Then in Psalm 43 he asks God to exonerate him, and plead his cause against an ungodly nation to rescue him from evil men.
He combats his spiritual depression by talking to himself. He asks himself why so sad, and tells himself to put his trust in God. He tells himself that he will forever praise God. In Psalm 43 He tells God that He is his stronghold. But asks God why has He rejected him. He tells God to send His light and truth to guide him, so that the light and truth will take him to the holy mountain where God lives. He will go to the altar of God his joy and delight where he will praise him with the harp. Yet again as in Psalm 42 he asks himself why sad and so disturbed. Then proceeds to tell himself put your trust in God and that he will forever praise Him, His savior and his God.
Have I ever felt this way? I realize that we have all felt this way at least once or twice in our lives. I felt such a terrible sadness and despair last year when I lost my job due to illness. How I felt so lost at the time, because I was somewhat distant to my God because of that job. I spent two weeks crying and asking God what was wrong.
How did I reach out to God at that time? I began picking up the bible, the honest and true word of the living God. I had wise women of God talking to me, and inparting the word of God into my soul. I had the support and love of my husband, and my children. Today, even though I still have trials, I take it one step at a time. Still the word of God is all around me, still my husband and family, and yes still those two women. Praise God almighty.

Q1. (Psalm 27) What does it mean that David desires to "dwell in the house of the Lord"? What does it mean to "seek his face"? How does David provide hope at the end of this Psalm?
David wanted to be close to the Lord at all times, to draw near upto Him. For it was a place of being safe and happy. David wanted to dwell, live, retire, be there forever, never leave the house of the Lord.
In seeking the face of the Lord, he wanted to be face to face with the Lord, to have an audience, he wanted to be in his presence.
David is confident that he will see the goodness of the Lord in his lifetime; and also tells us to be persistant. To wait patiently with confidence upon the Lord.

Q3. (Psalm 139). In what way does the wonder of creation in the psalm seem to affect the psalmist? In his concluding prayer in verses 23-24, what does he ask God to do?
To realize that God knew him even while being knitted together in his mother's womb. Praising the Creator because he was fearfully and wonderfully made. How that even while in the most secret place he was not hidden from God the Creator. That the Creator's eyes saw his unformed body. How awesome is that!
In verses 23 and 24, he is asking God to search his heart, and to know him and his thoughts. I believe he is asking God to search him for wickedness, and to know his anxieties. For the Creator to lead him along the path of everlasting life.

Q1. (Psalm 8). What does this psalm teach about God? What does it teach about human beings? What does it teach us about Christ? What does it teach about our responsibilities?
God is our wonderful creator. Creator of heaven and earth. Even though He has made us lower than Himself, He our God let man rule over all the livestock, fish, birds, over all the earth.

I read Psalm12:5-8 to a friend and sister in Christ over the phone.
But the Lord says,
"I will now rise up,
because the poor are being hurt.
Because of the moans of the helpless,
I will give them the help they want."
The Lord's words are pure,
like silver purified by fire,
like silver purified seven times over.
Lord, you will keep us safe;
you will always protect us from such people.
But the wicked are all around us;
everyone loves what is wrong.
As I was talking to my friend I said:
"God has promised that He will protect us from those that would want to hurt us. The Lord's words are true and He keeps His promises." I told her that we have not because we ask not. So I said to her that it was revealed to me that, "I have not because I ask not." Because the Lord has offered to help us if we ask Him for help...
