The attributes of the Spirit:
Wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, fear of the Lord, will not judge by appearances but of the heart, judge the needy of heart, full of righteousness and faithfulness
Through the Spirit, he will judge the needy of heart, the unjust.
The needy are those that appear to have the power, but only in an earthly way

These images are always going to be a challenge for me but maybe that is part of the point. Gid is mysterious and full of surprises to a simple human mind. It certainly shows His great creativity and power. And they were singing His praises.

The vintner cared for the vines gently, wisely and with much hope. He put much time and effort in to its care. He saw great potential for the yeild. When the fruit proved bad, and his response was to tear it all down, no trace left. It would have been a powerful image for society that lived close to the land.

God has choosen Israel to bless the world and he is pointing to a time when people will lice in peace and recognize the trur God. People will long to learn his ways.

The people addresses don't know who they are because they have lost their fouce on God. They are immature children rebelling and like animals that don't know who feeds them. In response, God is cery angry and he is so tired of the foolishness of the people. They worship false God's and it is a terrible sight for God. If they change their course, God and renew everything.

Gabriel told Mary she would have a son, despite being a virgin, the son of the Spirit. His name would be Jesus and he would be the fulfillment of prophecy and inherit the throne of David and his reign would never end. Wow, that's quite an announcement!

This passage is packed with so much meaning!

If oil represents the Holy Spirit, it is everything. The prayer of the righteous is of great value. The rightous know where the source of truth comes from.

The act of asking for prayer by a sick person demonstrates hope. Hope is key to faith. Without hope, I don't see how we can have faith.

As a previous answer says, it was a disaster for the Israelites, it got them no where and showed them to be very weak. It allows arrogance and self interest. We are judging others and we are told that is not our job.

Submission. It is a word used to express our choice to rely on someone else. We as humans view submission as weak or giving up. If God is the creator and giver of life, it should be the natural response. But our arrogant nature makes us fight this. If we focus on what He has done perhaps there could be no other response than submission.

It is so easy to "bad mouth a neighbor." It is also wrong for so many reasons. It shows no love, impatience, arrogance, meanness, and inflexibility. These are not attitudes that reflect a God of love. An we should be his ambassadors. We do Him and the kingdom great harm. The wicked tongue James has spoken of. Who are we to ever speak I'll of anyone, when we have been forgiven so very much more by God.

All of the commands are part of submission to God and his will and we fight and fight to remain in control. When we do this we separate ourselves from God and his great love. We can never heard this enough...
I find it such a great challenge to purify my heart. Thoughts creep in that are far from loving and are self serving.

Of course God is not against pleasure, but pleasure is not something we seek on our own. God provides us with great, unimaginable joy when fully submit and receive Him.

Of course it is love. A love that requires a relationship with Christ. It is a different type of love.
It produces a ripening crop of righteous as we are transformed by this love that has been first lavished on us.
