Q4. (Ephesians 6:18a; Jude 20; Romans 8:26-27) In the list of elements of the Full Armor of God, where does the Spirit show himself? Why is Spirit-directed prayer so important for the believer? How have you experienced this is your life?

I think he shows himself in all, but most of all in The Sword Of The Spirit, because that is the Word of God.

Sometimes we don't know what to pray, but the Spirit directs us the way to pray, what is in our heart.

Yes, Sometimes for family members, one time for two old friends that I hadn't seen in awhile where heavy on my heart, then I found out there sister had died, I had know them since we were teens and the sister was in grade school, it made me realize that they needed that prayer.

Q2. (2 Corinthians 3:18) Why is character change directly related to time deliberately spent in God’s presence? Have you noticed a change in the “degree of glory” you’re experiencing now compared to a few years ago? Why or why not?

The more time you spend with the Lord in his Word, Worshipping , Meditating the more you change into who God intended you to be.

Yes, not as much as I was hoping, but I know I need to spend more time in the Word and Meditating on the Word, I also need to let go and let God be God and realize I have a savior who has me.

Q1. (John 15:1-8) Why do we need to abide in Jesus? The fruit from branches connected to a vine is the grape. What is the nature of the fruit that comes from being connected to Jesus? Is it accurate to define fruit as “souls saved”? What is the danger in this definition?

We need to abide in Jesus so we may get to know him more intimately, a personal relationship.

Being connected to Jesus is to bear more fruit to grow fully into the person he wants us to be.

Yes, I think it is accurate to define fruit as " souls saved " We are the fruit he is the vine, without the vine the fruit withers.

Q4. (1 Samuel 3:1-10) Why is Samuel’s servant attitude such an important preparation for hearing God’s voice? Why is surrender to Jesus such an important element of discipleship?

He needs to humble himself in order to hear God's voice.

When we surrender to Jesus we are laying everything down and opening our heart, soul and mind to Jesus and is needed to able to obey.

Q3. How would you differentiate between (1) the Spirit's voice and (2) the Spirit nudge or prompting? What can you do to sensitize yourself to His voice and promptings?

The Spirit's voice is a small soft voice from inside, the Spirit's nudge or prompting when you feel the need to do something or go somewhere.

I can slow down in my life more, stop worrying about what has to get done and spend more time at the Lord's feet listening and learning, to stop always being in a rush.

Q2. (1 Corinthians 2:9-11, 16) What connects us to the mind of Christ? Do you have a regular Quiet Time? What could you do to make it more meaningful?

    The Holy Spirit.

I love my Quiet time with the Lord in the Mornings, reading my Bible, prayer and meditating.

Reading my Bible slowly meditating  more on certain  scriptures.

Q1. (Mark 1:33-39) What pattern do you see emerging in Jesus’ prayer life? Why do you think he spends Quiet Time with the Father before the day begins? How does this prepare him for his ministry? Why does Jesus minster through the power of the Spirit instead of in his own power?

He seeks time of prayer and alone time with his Father every early morning.

I think he spends Quiet time with in the Morning because it is the only time when he can get quiet time, before he starts his day.

He goes to the Father for guidance and direction each day, also to share with the Father what is on his heart.

When Jesus walks the earth he is a man,  he shows his disciples (leading by example) to minster through the power of the Spirit.

Q4. (1 Peter 4:10-11) If people are always promoting themselves and pointing to how God is using them, what does that say about them? About their sense of self-worth? About their maturity? Their realism? Their humility? What spiritual gifts has God given you, and how are you using them to his glory?

That is not how God wants us to be, we are to be humble not puffed up on ourselves.

That it is all about you and not God.

That they need to grow in the Word.

As a whole I don't know, I love teaching children, helping people, I love to see people happy.

Q2. (1 Corinthians 12:9) In the twentieth century we saw the evangelistic power of preaching combined with healing the sick. Where in Jesus’ ministry do you see this combination? Where in Paul’s ministry? In Peter’s ministry? In Philip’s ministry?

Everywhere Jesus went, all through his ministry he was preaching and healing.Jesus felt such compassion for people.

After Jesus ascension Paul, Peter and Philip all where preaching and healing throughout the country's.

Q1. Is it legitimate to use Jesus as our example in the use of spiritual gifts? Or was he so different than we are that we can’t pattern our ministry after his example? Where do you see the gift of knowledge in the Old Testament? In the New Testament?

Yes it is legitimate to use Jesus as an example, he showed us the gifts by example.

    All through the bible.

Q4. (Ephesians 4:11) How could a person have the spiritual gift of pastor or teacher without having an official position in a church? What must a church do if its “senior pastor” doesn’t have the spiritual gift of pastor? Who gives these gifts?

It could be a person leading a Bible Study, or teaching Sunday school, God gifts someone for his purpose. It does not have to be in Church, sharing Jesus with others outside the Church.

I think they should pray, seek guidance from God, how would one become Senior Pastor if he doesn't have the spiritual gift to pastor?God is the one who gives these gifts.

Q3. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22; 1 Corinthians 14) How would you define the gift of prophecy? Why do churches sometimes despise or prohibit prophecy? What guidelines does Paul give here and in 1 Corinthians 14 to keep prophecy in a congregation healthy?

I think the gift of prophecy is through the Holy Spirit is to show people the way, what will come, to help people the light in the darkness.

I believe they are afraid of what they don't know.

To speak with  discernment and to have two or three prophets  who should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said, be very careful in what you say and do.

Q2. (Ephesians 4:11a) Do you think there are modern-day apostles? If so, who might they be? If you don’t believe there are modern-day apostles, identify some people who are doing some of the same things that the early apostles did.

Yes I do think there is Modern -day apostle's, there are ministries(one of which I have been following and been a part of as a partner for over 20 years) who the Lord has blessed and the ministry has grown very much, they lay hands on the sick, they teach they travel all over the world to lay hands on the sick and lead people to Christ. They themselves are lead and only do and say what the Lord enables. There is no other life for them 24/7 living the Word so dedicated, just as the apostles.

I'm not saying they don't get to enjoy what the Lord has blessed them with, God gives, but they are always in Praise and Thankfulness, so full of Love.

To me that is Apostleship.....maybe not to someone else... I know that when I listen to them..I realize there is so much I want to learn, you just want more of the Lord.

Q1. (1 Corinthians 12:7; Ephesians 4:11) What is the purpose of spiritual gifts according to 1 Corinthians 12:7? According to Ephesians 4:11? What happens when people don’t employ spiritual gifts for their intended purpose?

The gifts are to the body of Christ, they are to build us and strengthen us.

It will result in a week church, will are not built up in Christ.

Q4. (Galatians 5:22-23) How does the Holy Spirit produce this fruit in our lives? What theological term would you use to identify this process? How can it be that a person who has been a “Christian” for years displays few or none of these fruits? Are they saved, but just immature? What does James 2:17-19 say about this? Is that too harsh?

The Holy Spirit produces as we Walk in the Spirit, being Led by the Spirit, and Conforming to the Spirit..

     Sanctification

They profess with there mouth but have sin in there lives, they have to confess that sin, stay in the word, God will not give up on them.

Yes they are saved, they need to keep going forward, keeping the Word in their eyes and ears.

No, I do not believe that is harsh, it is true, you have to believe, have faith, live it and walk in it and people will ask what is your hope.

Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.

Q3. (Galatians 5:16-18) How does the Spirit enable us to resist the temptations of the flesh? How does He restrain us? How does he enable us to break the hold the flesh has had over us?

As we learn to walk with the Spirit as a way of life, we can break the hold that the flesh has had over our lives up to this point.

Previously, the Mosaic Law was the believer's restraint from letting the flesh get out of control though it was weak. Now the Holy Spirit is present within us to keep us from doing what the old sinful nature wants

"Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:2)

Q2. (Romans 8:1-9; Isaiah 26:3) What does it mean to “set the mind on the things of the flesh”? What is involved in “setting the mind on the things of the Spirit”? What does it mean to have your mind “stayed” on Jesus? How much of this requires will-power? How much does the Spirit assist us? Can this become a habit as we practice it?

To set your mind on the things of the flesh is to live as the world lives with all it's cares and worry's.

To have your mind set on the desire's of the Spirit.

To think and dwell on Jesus all the day long, to meditate on Jesus.

I do believe it does consider some will power at least at first, to walk and talk and think of Jesus all day long will soon become second nature.

The Spirit will assist us  the stronger the Spirit becomes inside us.

Very much so, it will become your nature just comes naturally.

Q1. (Romans 7:7-25) What does Paul mean by “the sinful nature” (NIV) or “the flesh” (ESV, KJV)? Is this ever eradicated? Can there ever be victory over temptation?

The sinful nature are the things we do in our flesh, the things of satan, that we do over and over, the desires of our flesh.

No, it will always try to show up, trying to enter your life once again.

YES, there is sweet victory over temptation, as we walk in the Spirit stay in the Word, we overcome temptation. We are Overcomers.

Devout Christians differ on their understanding of these things. So please be gentle in your interchanges with each other on the Forum. You can disagree, but it must be expressed in love!

Q3. (Acts 10-11; Acts 19:1-7) The Holy Spirit comes upon new believers in both Caesarea and Ephesus accompanied by speaking in tongues (and prophecy and praise) like on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4). Does He always come like this initially? What about the times when people are saved in the New Testament but tongues aren’t mentioned? Are they filled with the Spirit also?

No I don't believe he always comes through speaking in tongues, I do believe you have Holy Spirit in you, and some eventually will speak in tongues others won't, but you still are saved through the blood of Jesus.

Q2. (Acts 4:8, 31) What does it mean that Peter and the believers are “filled with the Holy Spirit” in these passages? Are they “re-filled”? Is it possible for a believer to have many “fillings” of the Holy Spirit? Why or why not?

They were given extra boldness and power to testify.

    No, just given more.

Yes, I believe so, when God sends his people to speak or testify more boldness will be given, God knows what we need and when we need it.

Q1. (Acts 2) What happened at Pentecost that was different than anything that had happened in previous history? What word analogies are used to describe this phenomenon? Are these word analogies essentially used synonymously with others in Acts 2? What did the Jews from foreign lands hear and see? How did Peter interpret what they heard and saw? (Acts 2:14-21)

The Spirit is "poured out" upon believers

    1. Baptize (Acts 1:5)
    2. Come upon (Acts 1:8)
    3. Filled (Acts 2:4)
    4. Pour out (Acts 2:17-18, 33)
    5. Receive a gift (Acts 2:38)
    6. Promise (Acts 2:39, cf. 2:33)

    Yes

    Speaking in other tongues

    They received a gift.

Q4. (1 John 4:4) Why does John need to remind us that we have “overcome” the world? Is the potential power of the Holy Spirit within you less than the power in the Apostle Paul. What might be the factors that seem to limit our sense of power?

I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in this world and it's worry's and cares we forget in the mist of our trouble we have someone who is greater, who will help us through.

No, we all have the same power of the Holy Spirit,.

We need to grow, we need to keep his Word in our hearts and in our mouths. We need to keep our faith and believe.

Q3. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) What does the Holy Spirit as a “seal of ownership” teach us? What does the Spirit as a “down payment” teach us? When is the full payment made in this analogy? What does the Spirit as an “anointing” teach us?

That we belong to God and that there is so much more to come.

    Guaranteeing what is to come,

    When Jesus Christ comes back.

Teaches us about all things, to remain in him.
