  1. The testimony and witness is so important because the truth is being revealed for the Christian's understanding; encouragement; and instruction regarding persecution now and until Jesus Christ returns for His church. Jesus is the faithful witness because everything that Jesus taught us is faithful and true and we can put our trust in Him. Christians are embarrassed by Jesus Christ because it isn't "cool" or conventional to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in today's culture.

  2. All gospel accounts of the resurrection agree that: Jesus was dead and bured; Jesus' disciples were dazed and confused;

    the empty tomb didn't mean much to the disciples and Mary thought the body was stolen; a number of disciples see the risen Jesus at different places and times; and the disciples declared Jesus to be risen from the tomb in Jerusalem.

    Bottom line is that the disciples did not believe that what Jesus foretold them about His trial, punishment, death and resurrection.

    So it would seem that Jesus was emtombed and rose the dead.

  3. Q1. What differences do you find between the various resurrection accounts? How do you account for differences in eyewitness testimony? How might these differences add to the credibility of the witnesses?

    \There are differences between the number of women and who they were that went to the tomb. There are differences in who and where Jesus appears to the women. There is a difference in the number of angels present at the tomb. There are differences in the funeral clothes Jesus was entombed in. There were differences in the places of Jesus' appearances. There are differences in the purpose the women went to the tomb.

    Eyewitness accounts vary in some details. I think each gospel writer wrote as he remembered the event in greater or lesser detail than the others. The minor differences in their resurrection accounts adds to the credibility of the witnesses in that they appear not to have plotted together to write a prefab account. Their accounts are as they preceived the events to be. As the Holy Spirit led each of them to record their account of the resurrection.

  4. The chief priests and Pharisees were uneasy that Jesus might be exactly who He said He was. However, they were more concerned that Jesus' followers would steal His body and create a deception, of resurrection, greater than His deception of being the Messiah. The disciples didn't understand or comprehend the Resurrection Jesus was telling them prior to His Resurrection. They didn't get it until Jesus revealed Himself to them after His resurrection.

  5. As a result of Job's faithfulness while going through trials and times of suffering, God not only restored his life 10 fold, but revealed to man, as never before, the spiritual reality of life beyond sheol or the grave. God chooses His time and place to reveal truth to humanity. This passage from Job is a great example of God's progressive revelation to humanity. As God has worked with His people He has revealed more and more about Himself, life, salvation, etc.
