To receive Jesus is to believe in Him and his Words. It is to accept Him as our Savior. Our spiritual relationship to God is our Salvation as our inheritance. Those who do not are lost to him. And it breaks his Heart.

To testify to the Light, is to be a living reflection of the Light God gave us when he left and sent us the Holy Spirit. We are to spread the Word and reflect that Word in our words and actions. In my own life I work on this daily at work and home and at church. I reach out to those who need the Word as much as I can. John died. If we testify to the Word, we have to be prepared to die or be ridiculed for our beliefs. The people who we testify to may come to believe in God and through Jesus be saved.

His words are the most important words ever spoken, and his action are the most important actions. He came to bring us back to God, we may never know all there is to know about God, but we needed Jesus to show us the way Home. In the story of the son who squandered his inheritance that person is us, the Father in the Story is Jesus, and all we need to do is come back home, and ask for forgiveness, and all is forgiven.

I feel overshadowed here by the responses so far. Jesus is Fully God, and existed since before creation. He was present at creation and participated in this action. Jesus is the Word (Logos). This reflects that He is God, and what He says, and will say, and has said, do will do, and has done throughout time are fully God's Word.
