  1. A slave would be a person that is under the authority of another person. That person would always be given instruction on actions like where to go and what to do or what to say. A saint is someone who is set apart for a specific purpose. It also means that a person would have a life that is different than the normal lives around him. The both ideas in the life of a beliver would be that we live our lives under the authority of Christ. He is the person that is totally in tune with Christ as how we are to live our life. Since we have been born again we now are living our lives on a "spiritual" plane and not just a "earthy" one.. The combination of both ideas also tells us that we have a intimate relationship with Christ which is unique in comparison than those around us. Our lives are now going to be comtrolled by Christ for His intention of what He has called us to do. Which is different than those who are not slaves or saints of Christ.
  2. The basis for our joy is that we know our souls have been saved by the forgiveness given in Christ. When the disciples went out to preach and work healings and deliverences and then came back they were estatic. But the Lord said that was nice that they rejoiced for that yet he said rejoice instead that your names are written in the book of life. Joy is connected with emotions in the sence that joy can be expressed by a show of gladness and happiness. The world looks for outside things to bring them their sense of joy. Like the illusion of security, having a lot of money or having a lot of possessions, among other things. It really doesn't come from within by the Holy Spirit like it does for us Joy is genuine in a beliver when a sense of gladness is still apparent even when a person is going through a time of hard trials, suffering or persecution.
  3. My faith has been tested so many times but one that happened just recently stands out. I'm a Marine who is on SSI until my veterans disability comes through. I had a reevaluation coming up in last November. I really had to trust God that everything would be ok. I really didn't do to well during this test because I fretted way to much. As I contacted Social Security to get a evaluation date they told me that I didn't have to take one. This is one of those times when I look back and see how God really took care of me . I would think that when I choose to trust God no matter what happens is when Jesus would get great glory.
  4. This a really good verse to let us be confident in our salvation. God keeps us in our salvation by His awesome power. My part is to continue in faith as I walk with Him.
  5. The sprinkling of blood is what cleanses us of our sins which allows us to have the ability to walk with obedience. Our obedience is a direct result of being forgiven. Basically we can see in the OT how God's requirements of Isreal was being forgiven then the commands of God to walk according to the Law. Since we have the Holy Spirit how much more is required of us to walk in obedience to the Law of love in Jesus Christ.
  6. I would think that a person would be more involved in activities which focus more on that person receiving his own satisfaction rather than putting time and effort into ministry activities that help out others. Yeah at various times in my life I really didn't value nor care about what is really my focus on living for the Kingdom of God. I have found that if I start my day in conversation with the Lord and gear my mind towards what I can do as a servant for that day. It really helps me to put in perspective that I am just here for a short time and during that time I can be who God wants me to be and to do his will.
