  1. What does it mean that Jesus is the "Only God" or the "Only Begotten God"? He is the true God and Jesus is the only son of God. Does the Apostle John seem to make a distinction between God the Father and God the Son? He only makes a distinction to show us God's roles in 3 different persons. What does all this mean for our understanding of the Trinity? God is the Father ( the one who created all things) , God is Jesus (the one who died for us and rose again), God is the Holy Spirit( the one who indwells believers)
  2. Why is the idea of God "becoming flesh" so important to the basis of the Christian faith? One reason is to have a way to know that He is God. What would Christ's life, crucifixion, and resurrection mean if he were only pretending to "become flesh"? He wouldn't be the real thing and we couldn't get saved or even have eternal life. In what ways have you personally experienced his grace? My salvation, His forgiveness of my sins and HIs constant growing me and protecting me. In what ways has his truth changed your life from what it was? I think about HIm often and want to be a witness and have a good testimony.
  3. What does it mean to "receive" Jesus? To accept what He did on Calvary for my sins. Also, to accept him into my life and let Him be Lord. To ask Him to forgive my sins. What does it imply to "believe in" Jesus? To believe that He is God and the only one who could die for my sins and accept His atonement for me. He took my place. I have faith that He did this for me . I asked Him and I believe in Him. What is the spiritual relationship to God of those who receive and believe in Jesus? We become the children of God and we are born of God. Of those who do not? They that don't receive and believe in Him are not HIs children and are not born of God.
  4. Q2. (John 1:7-8) What did it mean that John was sent to "testify" to the light? He was to speak up about who the light is. In what sense are you put here with the purpose of "testifying" to the light? I should agree about who He is. How are you doing in this regard? I am trying to show the people by the way I work who Jesus is. What happened to John the Baptist? He came as a witness. He came to testify about the light. What might happen to you if you testify clearly? the people watch you very carefully What might happen to the people to whom you testify? I am hoping and praying that some might want to come out of the darkness and into the light and get saved.
  5. Hello, I am a new member to this forum. I believe that according to the Bible, Jesus is God. I, also, believe that He is the Son of God. For many years, I had a hard time understanding and then one day I realized that since I believe the Bible is God's Word, it is therefore true. How, profound that God's Word the Bible is the Bible and Jesus is God's Word also. Anyway, why can't we just believe that God can be who He says He is. After all he is God, right? This is so fantastic to think about.
