  1. God sends Jonathan into the wilderness to encourage David & help him find strenth in God. The risk was both to David & Jonathan, as Saul was after them both so they were both in danger. The Ziph people where no to keen on David & sent a delegation to Saul reporting Davids exact location. Saul was by this time closer than ever to David, as he was on one side of the mountain & David was on the other. It ment so very much to David that Jonathan had come to him in the wilderness, so much so, that in fact they both reinforced their covernant of peace between each other. Also Jonathan tells David that, David will become King & that Jonathan will be second to him. What a close friendship. When we cry out to God for help from our hearts, he hears us, he sends a friend, loved one or relative to comfort us, he also gives us his wonderful word in his Holy Scriptures, when opening the Bible in need of Gods help it is amazing how it will always fall open to scripture that I really need. Praise be to our Lord God. Amen.
  2. Abiathar fled to join David & being a high priest brought with him his ephod, the high priest clothing used for determineing Gods will. David then had the ability to find out Gods will on key issues. David invites Abiathar to stay with him to keep him safe from Saul. David asked God for guidance & God told David to attack the pilistines at Keilah, David did this & was successful. If we seek first the kindom of God, put God first in all things & ask God for his help & do his will, not our own, this is the greatest advantage we could ever have. These are good key points to always remember when we are going through life's trials & tribulations, ask God first & do his will.
  3. David attracted men that Saul was also pursuing, thay had this in common with David. These men were rebels & bandits that had a price on their heads. David would have had to use all the skills he had learnt in previous battles to keep them under control, this would not have been easy, but David would have been respected by these men as it was known to them that David was a great warlaord.
  4. Nothing seemed sacred to Saul even he was anointed king & knew of God. To send three lots of men & then go his-self when he heard they were all prophesing, then to acctually prophesy as well, he still had no regard for God at all. God is all powerful,it seems whenever the the Holy Spirit comes upon people, they start prophesying, in Sauls time & also at pentecost; it is the power of God, we may not understand it, there are many things I do not understand, but just to have faith & trust in God in all things. The Holy Spirit came on the day of pentecost, Jesus told his disciples to stay in the upper room & wait, then the Holy Spirit came upon them, they prophesied & spoke in tounges.
  5. David excepted the offer of marrage to Suals youngest daughter, he loved her & she loved him, but the price Saul wanted was to be fulfilled by a military price, again Saul thought by putting David in danger, this time he maybe killed. The price was for David to kill & bring back the foreskins of 100 Philistines, David killed double this number so as to pay more than the price for Michal hand in marrage. David was then Saul's son-in-law. I think of course David did want to marry Michal, he loved her & she loved him. & Maybe he thought it best that he be obediant to the King. I dont think David would have taken any pleasure in the killings, he was doing what he had to do, & again God is with David.
  6. Saul sent David into battle in command of 1,000 men, Sual's plan was two-fold, he wanted David away from him & his court, he also hoped David would fall in battle, he hoped by putting David in danger he would be killed. Saul's plan backfires, David had a great success in everything he did because God was always with him. Saul was afraid of David because of his success. All of Israel & Judah loved David because he was a good leader in their campaine's, David was a powerful leader & worrior.
  7. We tend to trust in our own strength in most thing instead of trusting in our God. We forget sometimes, that our heavenly father is always there for his children. We should stand with our God for it is in him we should trust always to be there for us. Listening to his voice & remembering to be obedient to him always. The power of God is in every battle we face, we stand on Gods side as he stands with us.
  8. David explains to King Saul that he has been in combat with bears & lions when they attacted his flock, He chased after the preditors & rescues the sheep from the jaws, showing David is fearless. Saul allows David to do battle & is staking the intire battle on David, as the Israelite troops are quite demorolized by Goliaths taunts. Saul believes David has a chance of winning against Goliath, He ahs Faith in David, as David has inspired the king in spiritual faith & pointed the king toward the power of God Yahweh.
  9. The man that kills Goliath would be given a huge reward including the kings daughter in marriage. David is upset with Goliaths taunts against the people of Israel. Eliab is upset with David, for leaving the sheep in the wilderness, but more so for, daring to share his own opinion, showing Eliab to have no courage of his own. David shows his faith & trust in God, that God would be with him.
  10. What is Rebellion? a. Rebellion is Not doing what God has asked us to do, to the letter. Thinking we can do it better ourselfs on our own understanding. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft & stubborness, it is iniquity & idolatry. A rejection of Gods word is a rejection of him. Rebellion & Arrogance go hand in hand along with stubborness, we think we know better than God. As we Love our father, we should want to please him, to delight him in our obedience, we can hide nothing from him, he looks into our hearts & minds. God our Father gives & takes away, we would not want to disqualify ourselfs from Gods good blessings that he has for us. If we do nothing, we could become hard-hearted, backslide or even fall away altogether. Jesus died for all our sins including the sin of rebellion, so it is not a lot to ask that we be obediante in what God wants us to do.
