  1. What is the psalmist feeling during this spiritual struggle? He believes that God is his *refuge, but God. is not doing anything. The *psalmist is asking God to be his *judge. A judge is someone that decides who is right and who is wrong. The *psalmist believes that he is right and he asks God to tell everyone. God will do this by making him free so that he is not a hostage any more. How does he combat his spiritual depression? He prays for God to send light and *truth. He believes that they will take him back to Jerusalem. That is where the *holy mountain and the house of God are. Quote
  2. What does it mean that David desires to "dwell in the house of the Lord"? This means to continually returning to the sanctuary for worship. It can also refer living one's life in God's presence. In either case, there is constant fellowship with Jehovah throughout one's life. What does it mean to "seek his face"? To seek God's face is to petition Jehovah, most often in the context of worship. It involves complete devotion to God in the same sense as turning to Him. How does David provide hope at the end of this Psalm? David provides hope in this verse because rather than taking matters into our own hands and because we are children of God we should wait patiently for Jehovah response in their prayers.
  3. Psalms 139 tells us that God knows absolutely everything about us! He knows our actions: When We sit down and when we get up (v. 2); when we go somewhere and when we lie down (v. 3). He is intimately acquainted with all our ways! He knows our words: in fact, He even knows what we are going to say before we even get a chance to say it (v. 4)! He even knows our thoughts from afar (v. 2b). Like a caged bird, He’s got us surrounded, with His hand upon us (v. 5). There is no escape from His thorough, penetrating knowledge. So David exclaims (v. 6): “Such knowledge is too wonderful for us; it is too high, we cannot attain to it.” David is asking God to search him for any evil intent in his heart and if he find anything to take it out and to clean him, giving him a true and clean heart.
  4. I think the common thread between verse 1-6 and 7-13 is the word of God being revealed. I think David basks in God word because he knows the righteouness of Gods word how they rejoice in the heart and the purity of God word. David knew that God's law is perfect and unchanging and realizing this, all of his sins was brought to his rememberence and he trusted in God and repented. David is asking God to accept the meditation of his heart because God is his redeemer and his strong tower.
  5. In reading Psalms 8, to me it teaches that God is majestic and He is worthy to be praised. God has created us in His image and has out of his grace crowned us with His glory and majesty. It teaches also that God's glory is above the heavens, which is above the earth, and nothing can compare with that. This Psalms also teaches that human beings are selfish and lean towards their own understanding but we have been crowned with glory and honor. From the beginning God has designated humankind as overseers of the earth, even though God has given us that privilege it is still His creation and that we report to a higher master. When God made humankind the overseer of the earth, it was given lightly and it shouldn't be taken lightly. We have the responsibility to honor God because he is our heavenly Father and he cares so much for us.
