What is the primary purpose of God putting his Spirit upon selected individuals in the Old Testament? Gods primary purpose of placing his spirit in certain individuals is to equip them with all his ability and makes them to do things to beyond their natural ability .Gods spirit empowers them with required knowledge,wisdom,intelligence,understanding,ability,talent and skill to fulfill the purpose and plan of god. When god put his spirit in certain individuals like saul , he transformed in to a new individual. His thinking changed and his mind is renewed. In case of samson, spirit of god gave him supernatural strength to protect Israelite from philistines. In case of judges god gave him spirit of wisdom(Spirit of wisdom) to rule his people. God gave his spirit to moses,Gideon,david to lead people(Leadership). God gave his spirit to all his prophets like Eliajah and elisha to tell the people about will of god. Spirit of god loaded them with a supernatural ability as a result a shepphard became a king . David is able to kill Goliath who is more stronger, more powerful and more skilled than David. It means spirit of god empowers us to reach a place where we can not achieve with our ability What effect does the Spirit seem to have upon their relationship with God? The spirit of god kept a burden in the hearts of individuals which made them focus on will of god. It helped them to know the plans of god. Spirit of god guided them. In total it helped them to live a holy life. Spirit of god
