Q3. (5:8-9) What instructions does Peter give us to guide us in spiritual warfare? Extra credit: How are these instructions similar or different than Paul's instructions in Ephesians 6:10-17?

Peter says we should, to be self-controlled, be alert, resist devil and standing firm in faith. It is similar because Paul also asked us we should stand firm in faith.

According to the verse I will cast all my fear on Jesus Christ. The to cast all my fear on Him is because He cares for me. I will do that through prayers. I will apply the vese's instruction in my life humble myself,  trust Him and pray constantly because I know Him care.

Q4. (5:5-6) What acts of humility are appropriate for church leaders? How can we discern a person's humility before putting him or her in a place of leadership in the church? What happens when we fail to do this?

The acts of humility that appropriate for church leader is for God's leaders realised that all they have is a gift from God and the people are a trust from God and the humility under the mighty hand of God so that God Himself will lift us up in due season. Discerning a person's humility before putting him or her in a place of leadership in the church is through prayers. If we failed to prayers we be expecting anything.

Q3. (5:3) How can we best keep elders and pastors from being power-mongers? From limiting a pastor's authority? What's the danger here? From testing a person before bestowing authority? How can this be difficult? How can we deal with this serious problem properly?

The best way to keep elders and pastors from being power mongers is being taking good care of them by paying good salary and other incentives and monitor their activities. The danger in limiting the pastor's authority will result into unnecessary excuses by not been responsible and reliable on their duties. Testing before bestowing authority is very difficult because human being are very difficult to understand. The only way is committing all things to God in prayers and watch.

Q2. (5:2) What's wrong with the common practice in churches of "twisting a person's arm" to get him or her to serve as a church leader. What damage does this do to the church? What kind of leader does it produce?

What's wrong with the common practice in the churches of twisting a person's arm as church leader is manipulated by guilt or duty because it's not willingly service. It caused the church a great damage because there will less interest depreciating the growth of the church spiritually, physically and morally. Its will produce irresponsible and unreliable leaders.

Q4. Why is a willingness to die, if need be, essential to healthy Christianity during persecution. What happens when we aren't willing to die, when we are afraid to "take up our cross daily" (Luke 9:23) and follow Jesus? What does this have to do with "commiting ourselves to a faithful Creator"?

Willingness to die is a sign of total commitment to Jesus Christ and faithfulness to our creator. If we aren't willing to die for Jesus Christ it's simply mean we are denying Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour, its have many things to do with our commitment and our faithful creator because we deny Him .

Q3. (4:14) If we are never persecuted, what does that say about how people view us? In what way should persecution make us happy?

Persecution is a sign of seeing Jesus Christ shinning in you but if not people view we are not genuine Christian because there's not reflecting or shining Christ in us. Persecution makes us happy because there's a great reward waiting us in heaven.

  15. On 4/9/2004 at 6:17 AM, Pastor Ralph said:

Q2. (4:13) When you meditate on the idea of partaking of or being a sharer in Christ's sufferings, what perspective does it give you on whatever persecution you may experience?

Being a partaker or sharer of our Lord Jesus Christ's sufferings, its gives us a great honour and joy of standing alongside of my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ in suffering.

Q1. (4:12) What's the danger of trying to avoid persecution and suffering for Christ? Have you ever been distracted by persecution from what you should have been doing? Have you ever observed this in other Christians?

The danger of trying to avoid persecution and suffering for christ is dead spiritually and end in eternal hell. No I have not and cannot be detracted by any persecution by His grace and mercy. Yes, I knew many Christians who forsaken the faith in Jesus Christ because of impatient for God to answer their prayers as they are passing through some challenges.

It say their no mature self-worth because we are to see ourselves as  servants of others and steward of God's property. Glory be unto God for the gifts of knowledge, understanding and wisdom and I am using them for the glory of God through empowerment of Holy Spirit.

Q3. (4:5-7) Why don't non-Christians like the idea of giving an account of their actions? Why don't we Christians like it? What should the realization that we must give an account of our actions inspire in us? With what attitude should we live as a result?

Non Christians don't like the idea of giving an account because it is not a popular topic. Christians like it because it part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The realization that we must give an account of our actions inspired in us to warning of the judgment and the consequences. As Christians, we should have the attitude that please God such as life of clear mind and self-control.

Q2. (4:3-4) Why do non-Christians try to get you to sin with them. Why are we tempted to do so? How can we resist this temptation?

The non Christian try to get us to sin because we judging them and try to shame us into sin with them. We are tempted because of culture and advertising that drives us. We can resist this temptation by focus our lives on Christ and the words of God and ignored the worldly things.

Q1. (4:1-2) When the scripture says "arm yourselves with the same attitude" as Christ had, how should this attitude help keep you from sin? What attitude are we talking about?

Arm yourself with the same attitude as Christ had means we must have a stake in His suffering by do away from sin and to live the rest of our for the Will of God. This attitude is a challenged and an adventure therefore, help keep us from sin again. The attitude we are talking about is the attitude of living for the Will of God and plans forever.
