  1. Q3. (John 2:23-25) What is the problem with faith that rests solely on miracles? Faith that rests on solely on miracles is shallow and fickle like people who support a team only when they are winning. Is it true faith? No this is not true faith, Faith endures through circumstances big and small and is our building block that leads to spiritual maturity in Christ. What is necessary for it to develop into true faith? entrust oneself to an entity in complete confidence, believe (in), trust, with implication of total commitment to the one who is trusted Did Jesus see these problems as a reason not to perform miracles? No because he offers the greatest miracle of all, to be killed and to rise 3 days later.
  2. Why did Jesus perform this miracle behind-the-scenes? I think he did not want to draw attention to himself. I also think the way he performed the miracle shows that He is working behind the scenes when we have problems too big for us. Who was he trying to protect? I don't think He was trying to protect anyone. What does the quantity of the wine tell us about Jesus' glory? His glory, grace and love overflow. What does the quality of the wine tell us about Jesus' glory? His gifts are the absolute best gifts for us.
  3. Why do you think alcoholics are quick to point out this miracle? I believe alcoholics use this verse to justify their actions and give themselves a license to drink. Which is wrong: drinking wine or drunkenness? Drunkenness How can we avoid excesses and still enjoy God's good gifts? We can make the choice to not indulge in certain gifts if we cannot handle them
  4. Q2. (John 2:3-5) Why do you think Mary pushes Jesus to solve the wedding host's problem? I think she knows he can solve the wine problem. I also think she knows he will not do anything until he is asked to do so. Are her words to Jesus appropriate? Do whatever he asks implies that Mary knows Jesus can and will solve the problem of the lack of wine. Would you categorize Jesus' reply as a rebuke? I do not think Jesus' reply to Mary was rebuke, I think He may have been waiting for His opportunity to address the problem, or just enjoying the party without concern about the wine.
  5. I believe we make time for the people and things we want in our lives. I believe Jesus was showing us that fellowship with others (not just other Christians) is important
  6. Q5. (John 1:18) What does it mean that Jesus is the “Only God” or the “Only Begotten God”? Jesus is God. Does the Apostle John seem to make a distinction between God the Father and God the Son? Yes Jesus is the Son of God, seated at the right hand of the Father. They are separate but one at the same time. What does all this mean for our understanding of the Trinity? Jesus is not a lesser version of God, The Holy Spirit is not a lesser version of God. All three are God
  7. Q4. (John 1:14) Why is the idea of God “becoming flesh” so important to the basis of the Christian faith? Without Jesus becoming flesh and dying for our sins we ave no hope for salvation or heaven. What would Christ’s life, crucifixion, and resurrection mean if he were only pretending to “become flesh”? Our faith would be futile and pointless In what ways have you personally experienced his grace? I experience grace by waking up everyday. By breathing. By being forgiven of all my sins. In what ways has his truth changed your life from what it was? I was a very selfish and sinful man but jesus loved me enough to take my punishment and set me free. I have access to Him and eternal salvation because of His grace.
  8. What does it mean to "receive" Jesus? I believe this means we recognize who Jesus is (Lord of All) and fall under his authority because of this. What does it imply to "believe in" Jesus? I believe this means we accept Jesus for who He is and surrender our lives to him. We fully trust Him and Him alone What is the spiritual relationship to God of those who receive and believe in Jesus? If we believe and receive Jesus we are then brought in to a deep and special relationship. I am His son, His child subject to His authority, correction, His love and His attention Of those who do not? For those who do not have this relationship they are what they have always been, disconnected people walking the earth with no true understanding for the purpose of their existence.
  9. Q2. (John 1:7-8) What did it mean that John was sent to "testify" to the light? John was sent to declare the coming of the messiah, Jesus. In what sense are you put here with the purpose of "testifying" to the light? I was put here on earth to spread the Good News of the Gospel and to live out my life as mirror of Christ and his love for us. How are you doing in this regard? Not so well. I have never told people about Jesus, I just read the bible and go to church. I want to change this What happened to John the Baptist? John was beheaded for speaking the truth. What might happen to you if you testify clearly? I might lose friends, be called names, made fun of, lose my job, gain favor from heaven and change my life. I would be living for God without compromise or concern for myself What might happen to the people to whom you testify? They will either reject the message or accept it.
  10. Q1. (John 1:1-3) According to the Apostle John, is Jesus fully God? What does it mean that Jesus is the “Word”? What does this say about him and his ministry? According to the Apostle John, is Jesus fully God? Jesus is God. He is not a god, but God who came down in the flesh to show us God on a personal level. What does it mean that Jesus is the “Word”? What does this say about him and his ministry? It means that all parts of the Bible point back to Jesus. The prophecy of the messiah, the end of days, the creation and all parts in between speak of Jesus.
