  1. Judah was preparing for war relying on their own human strength. They should have listened to Isaiah and trusted in the Word of God. Shebna had prepared a fine tomb for himself using the nations resources. I am guilty of selfishness daily and pray daily for the wisdom and heart to live by God's will, not mine.
  2. Isaiah was told to go naked for 3 years as a testimony to what was to happen if Judah relied on Egypt. Judah chose to join in the rebellion and was conquered - stripped naked. I honestly don't know if I have it in me to strip naked. I continue to grow daily with the hope of ultimately doing all things in God's glory.
  3. The ruler in Isaiah 14:12-17 felt that he was exalted above God. There is little scriptural evidence that the passage refers to Satan. I work every day to submit my will to God. My own self pride often interferes in my walk with God. I do not place myself above God. I understand his strength and majesty and work daily to humble myself in his presence. I humble myself by giving thanks to the Lord for all things, by seeking his counsel and by doing everything I can to spread the word of the Lord's sacrifice and precious gift of salvation.
  4. The nation's are all of Jesus's true believers. All people who follow the word, spread the gospel and believe in their salvation through Jesus Christ. The prophecy will be fulfilled at the 2nd and final coming of our Lord.
  5. We will receive eternal peace with full knowledge of the Lord. Peace will extend from earth to heaven - everywhere. There will be peace because we have given our will over to God and have gained knowledge of his will for us. The knowledge of the Lord is the understanding of his power and glory and that we are his children. This knowledge will be spread to all God's children.
  6. Jessie was the father of David. Our king was proclaimed as having come from the root of Jessie, the root of David. The Messiah was said to have wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, might and the knowledge and reverence of God. The Messiah is an ever powerful force that will eliminate the evil in the world. The poor and needy are victims of injustice and oppression. The unjust will not see the kingdom of heaven
  7. Humans tend to display a false sense of power by oppressing others. As Christians we can not only spread God's word, but also live our lives as an example of his love and compassion. Volunteering gives us the opportunity to help the poor with food and shelter and to spread the gift of hope and strength in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  8. Jesus is our Mighty God' He is all empowering, all incompassing, everything to his followers. He is my Prince of Peace
  9. God is a ''stumbling stone...' because he calls us out to live by his word and his word alone. Many people will fall because they chose to follow false prophesy or deities. This is the work of Satan to think of our God as less powerful than he is.
  10. Isaiah's message was to trust in God. This was disregarded because of Ahaz's fear of his enemies. He chose to form an alliance instead which led to destruction. I think we sometimes feel stronger than God as a cover-up for our own fears and inadequacies. Our own free will often interferes with the true will of God
