  1. Why is personal courage such an important character trait for a disciple – and for a discipler? 1. Because faith is tested by opposition, suffering, rejection. Courage gives ys strength to endure the pain of the testing. IIt takes courage to wait upon God and seemingly " do nothing" and our circumstances scream for us to do something.:. Courage enables us to fight Goliath's as they present themself and you are all alone against this big bully. I am currently facing a huge Goliath. But though it looks like im alone God is holding me up!
  2. Increasingly deceit is becoming more and more of a problem. " Covetousness" goes hand in hand with deceit and false doctrine like the prosperity doctrine gives a false biblical narrative for both. Also the " " flattery " stems from individuals whose eyes are on people and live to please them. I keep myself away from the above by keeping myself saturated in the Word of God and prayer.
  3. The nurturing of a mother to her newborn reflects the born again experience as a convert becomes a " babe in Christ ". We are to have same. " gentleness" and tenderness for each and every precious " babe in Christ". Yes....men can also have this attribute for it comes from the Holy Spirit not gender.
  4. Because God is our Father and we are his children. Paul said v9 for we remember brethern our labor and trevail for laboring nigjt and day..." I believe he speaks not only of the work in ministry but also the trevail and labor done in prayer. The fathering role important to demonstrate the fathering aspect of God to disciples. Though Paul seemed to have issues with women(?) jesus Christ emancipated women imparting their ability also to demonstrate the nature of the father I
  5. The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.. Hebrews 4:12 This is why Paul said the Saints received the Word " not as the Word of men....which effectively worketh also in you ". Thats why we have a powerless church because corporately the Word is not treated as a living entity
  6. "receive him" is important because so many times people within the body do. not receive another member of the body and some times for irrelevant reasons. Also, the command to comfort another believer is so pleasant and rare indeed in this hour
  7. I"m so happy you highlighted v10 because it bounced out at me. I marveled at Pauls ability to take heavy doctrine and make it concise and applicable. Most importantly I was amazed at his applying doctrine immediately in his letter. Fast forward to 2019....most of the time doctrine never mentioned. In fact, I am noticing that often the gospel is not even preached. Instead, we have self-help sessions, therapy consults, etc. The Resurrection typically is only discussed on Easter...if then. "Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church" By NT Wright totally changed the way I view The Resurrection of Jesus Christ! I am new on this site and I am so grateful for it. Thank you, Dr. Wilson and all of you participating.
  8. Because under Gods direction to Moses to destroy the Golden Calf the children of Isreal had erected, there was nothing else Gideon could do with it because if he just moved it somewhere other people would become contaminated by the demons on it and turn their affections away from Yahweh
  9. Joash's inaction made him a part of the problem because in the face of idolatry silence is sin. I feel Gideon took the right action in adhering to his Heavenly Father-s voice over his own earthly father. We need more Gideon's today. ( e.g)who will take the rainbow flag that the L.B.G.T. movement has defiled by using it as symbol for their decadence when God made it a symbol of covenant....where are the Gideon's who will stand up against this?
  10. Hi I'm Aza from Washington State but orginally from Minnesota. This Bible study an answer to prayer as I reached a point that I wasn't " being fed"...learned that it was not my fault...THE WORD is rarely preached in its fullness anymore...I thank GOD for this ministry as I feel called to the mission field and need as much WORD as I can get!
