  1. 4. Why is it so hard to maintain a Quiet Time? What have you found that enables you to set aside this time? Any tips to share with the rest of us? It is hard to maintain quiet time when there isn't stated time for it. However, when one set a regular time table for it, it become as easy as anything. All other 'important duties will give way to this indispensable duty.
  2. Q4. (1 Corinthians 9:16-17) How does Paul view his call to preach? He viewed it as a necessity or otherwise as a trust committed to him to fulfill. How much choice is involved for him? He has no choice but to preach the gospel. How much honor? He has nothing to glory of. He is just fulfilling his God giving task. How should this understanding affect our understanding of God gifting and calling us for ministry? We should know that it is a necessity or, to say, trust committed unto us which we mustn't trifle with lest we are accounted to be a slothful and wicked servant. What is the opposite of faithfulness when it comes to using God’s gifts? Unfaithfulness and irresponsibility.
  3. Q3. (Acts 13:1-3) Why are the church leaders in Antioch seeking God through corporate prayer and fasting? Corporate Prayer and fasting honors the ordinance of Christ in Matt 18:19-20 "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them." This has been a regular manner before and after the day of Pentecost (See Act 1:13-14; 2:1, 42-47; 4:23-31). How does God respond to their seeking? God spoke to them and revealed His will to set apart Paul and Barnabas for the work He has for them, to carry the gospel to the gentiles. Why do you think we don't do more of this sort of thing today? We rely on our own effort rather than that of the Holy Ghost. Human planning has supersede God's own. What was the importance of this to the church at large? To the chosen missionaries? The importance of seeking God is to help us serve God in the best manner and to have His stamp on all our undertakings for they would then be under His guidance. As a result of this, we won't be doing things by human wisdom but by the demonstration of the Spirit and the power of Holy Ghost. This will bring much fruit and success to the mission works.

  5. Q 1. Why does Paul call out Peter publicly in Antioch? Paul was trying to clarify things before the believers present at Antioch that the gentiles who trusted Christ are the same with the believing Jews. Peter's action is misleading and it is necessary to openly rebuke him before all that the gospel may not be corrupted by such an eminent leader in the Church (See 1 Tim 5:19-21) Q 2. What is the reason for Peter’s hypocrisy? He was afraid of the Jews who still insist on keeping the law by circumcising the new gentile converts. He wanted to please them. Q 3. What is the central issue on which Paul feels they must not compromise? Why is it so important? Paul wanted the sound doctrine of salvation by faith to be established among the believers. It is important because any contrary belief to salvation by faith in Christ alone is dangerous and damning. It cannot save a man; no one is justified by keeping the law.
  6. Q1. (Acts 9:30; Galatians 1:15-17) Q. Why do ambitious Christians struggle so much when they don't seem to be doing anything important? A. We as human being often judge by sight and many a times we think we must be engaged in something visible to our self and others whereas God thoughts are different. Q. Why is patience with God's plan so important to growth? Why is a period of spiritual formation so important to future leadership? To listening for God's voice? A. Patience is what can build godly character in us and make us fit into God's purpose Rom 5:4; James 1:4. Spiritual formation period is a time when God unveils his mind to us so as to carry out his will perfectly in times to come.
