Q4. Walking in Jesus' Steps
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4 Submitting and Suffering Like Jesus (1 Pet 2:13-23)
Christ suffered and died for me. He gave me the most precious gift that of life. My desire now is to give back to him. Live a life pleasing to him. Honor him in all that I do. I want to be more like Jesus. He is my life. Praise God forever more. -
Q3. Being 'Conscious of God'
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4 Submitting and Suffering Like Jesus (1 Pet 2:13-23)
Being conscious of God keeps me from reacting wrongfully to injustice. It causes me to pray about the situation and then act accordingly. I cannot be a complainer because I stand for Christ. My co-workers know that I'm a christian and I need to be a living example of that. -
Q1. God's Glory
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #4 Submitting and Suffering Like Jesus (1 Pet 2:13-23)
Living submissive, obedient lives brings God glory, honor and praise. We show the world that he is worthy. God has placed human authorities over us and he expects us to obey. We are the light of the world and to be just that means to be submissive and obedient to the call of God. When we become rebellious to God we are telling him we know whats best for our lives, will make our own choices whether bad or good. We want to be in control instead of allowing God to control us. How can we tell God we love him, when we act this way. That hurts God. -
Q4. Combatting Lies
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
Peter tells us to abstain from sinful desires. We are not of this world. Were just passing through. This will help us to flee when satan comes to tempt us. Put on the whole armor of Christ. -
Q3. God's Own People
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
To live a life pleasing and acceptable to God. My goal is to put a smile on God's face by the way I live for him. -
Q2. Offering Praise
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
With a heart of thanksgiving, I come into his presence and bow down before him. Giving him all the honor, glory and praise. I will praise him with my mouth, my actions and my life. -
Q1. Priesthood
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #3 Being God's Temple, Priesthood, and People (1 Pet 2:4-12)
The mindset of a priest towards God is is to have a heart of thanksgiving and a attitude of service. This action inspires me to praise and worship my God. To serve him with a joyful heart. -
Sure. 1 Peter 1:18-19 says I was redeemed from this life and bought by his precious blood. I am of great worth to God and his love for me is everlasting. He who was sinless paid for my sins with his life. He was willing to die in my place. Now thats love that no one else can give me. Material things have no long term value, you can't take them with you when you enter eternity. Living for Christ and doing his will is what I am working towards. I want to be able to stand before my father and have him say well done good and faithful servant.

Q3. Judgment and Gospel
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #2 Living Holy Lives (1 Pet 1:13-2:3)
No one likes to be judge, it causes resentment, hurt and our pride gets deflated. John 3:16 says it all. If do not accept his word, then why should we be included in his family. The fact the Jesus die for me so I could have eternal life is reason enough that those who do not accept this free gift, should be judged. People can choose to live the way they want without any fear of punishment. The gospel is no longer effective and does not produce the truth. We have no hope in a better life awaiting for us. -
Holiness is being consecrated and set apart for Christ. I've been forgiven and washed in his blood. Striving for righteousness through sanctification. My biggest struggle with being holy is living out the fruits of the spirit on daily basis.

1. To live a life of holiness. Be ready to meet him for we do not know the day or the hour when he will appear. It give us hope while were living here on this earth. This life with all its struggles and suffering will come to an end someday and we have eternity to look forward to. To keep us ready and prepared to meet him. We become complacent and live for what the world has to offer. We become worldly and materialistic. We become the opposite of Christ.

Our faith in him, knowing he died for us and rose again. Human emotions are temporal while joy will be there during the bad time and good times. Our emotions will always fluctuate but our joy will remain with us forever. No. The world regards the pursuit of happiness as gaining material things, being successful. Joy is having that belief that one day we will see Jesus face to face and live in eternity with him. The joy of the Lord is my strength.

Q4. Refining Faith
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1 Rejoicing in Our Salvation (1 Pet 1:1-12)
Yes there have been many instances, but one in particular changed my life forever. You see I was diagnosed with HIV positive. I made a commitment to spend time with God daily through bible reading (studying) and prayer. It has brought me to a close walk with my savior. I have had this disease now for almost 15 years and praise God I'm still going strong. Through the changes it brings in our lives, we become more like him (thought, speech and action). -
Q3. Secure by Faith
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1 Rejoicing in Our Salvation (1 Pet 1:1-12)
God's part is to shield us. My part is to have faith. -
Q2. Forgiveness and Obedience
Yoli replied to Pastor Ralph's topic in #1 Rejoicing in Our Salvation (1 Pet 1:1-12)
Obedience is the evidence of forgiveness. My desire to be obedient comes from his great love for me to forgive me of all my sins past, present and future. When one thinks that way, you have not truly accepted his grace. Forgiveness and obedience go hand in hand. You cannot have one without the other. We are saved by grace and our works is the product of our faith. -
I would call that christian worldly, living for material gradification rather than focusing on the spiritual realm. Yes, there are times in my life, I get so busy and caught up in my own life that I take my focus off God (not good). Going through a trial or test will draw us closer to God. When we put our focus back on God and spend time with him daily through prayer and bible study be began to see a difference in our attitude and our commitment to him.
