  1. The 120 disciples were obeying the Master as He called them to pray cf. Luke 18:1. By God’s Grace yes I have been part of a group praying like this. God willing, yes I do value prayer enough to pray and invite others to pray along. In our local Church we have 2 days in a week were we pray. Both sessions are spent in prayer and short admonishments.
  2. Jesus offers us the power to be witnesses, to heal, to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God, to do good cf. Acts 10:38, Romans 12:21. Acts 1:8 functions as an outline for the Book of Act in that: 1- It encourages us to observe the source behind the boldness of the early Disciples 2- It shows us that the command to witness that Jesus gave started eventually from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and has gone across the Earth 3- It teaches us that the other disciples indeed needed the Power of the Spirit of God to make Jesus known cf. Acts 7, Acts 19:1-2 4- It gives us a fuel and burning desire to witness even today’s seeing that evangelism becomes easy when we obey God through the Holy Spirit and cooperate with Him. We fit in this Acts 1:8 , in that the word of God is alive and this command is also for us today.
  3. Jesus disciples are not leave Jerusalem because Jesus has instructed them in Acts 1:8 to tarry in Jerusalem so that they could receive power from on high. The Holy Spirit coming represents a filling in that, He seals our hearts and abides with us forever cf. 2 Cor. 1:21-22. A coming upon, as He overshadows us through the anointing of God; this could be witnessed solidly with the Old Testament Kings and Prophets cf. 1 Samuel 16:13, Isaiah 61:1. A baptism, as Jesus was introduced by the John the John the Baptist to be the one to baptised repentant believers with the Holy Ghost and Fire.
