  1. Obadiah is a good person in a wrong place. And he has to contend with the dangers of being Yahweh's worshipper with Ahab and Jezebel around. Nevertheless, Obadiah did what he thought was the right thing to do. He gave protection to other Yahweh's prophets in Israel. And he supplied them with a place and food to eat. I wish i will have the Obadiah's courage when the time comes. You'll never know as we can be over- confident and say i will lay my life for the Lord but when the time comes will I really do it? Or when the anti-christ appears will i be able to say NO to his offers of pleasures, freedom and wealth and succumbed to his lies and lifestyle? Basically, will I be able to put my neck on the line when the time comes to do what is right for the Lord and His Church just like Obadiah? I hope i'll have that same courage or at least some of it to be faithful to the God of Jesus even during crisis time.
  2. Common sense or nowadays people tend to say science is the way to go. Whether its abortion or LGBT rights/gender theory many of the liberals has been pushing for this using science as the way forward. But science is not going to take us to heaven. Only faith in the Living God and obeying His Word will do. Science does not change the bread and wine to the Body and Blood of Christ but faith in His promised Word does that. So yes, faith is the way to the miraculous and its should also guide us in our moral life. Not common sense...not science.
  3. In my culture there is a thinking that crows (family of ravens) are bringers of bad luck. That to see them suddenly means something bad is about to happen. But the population of crows in my country has only increased so its easy to see them around. Anyways, crows are something that you wouldn't want to see first thing in the morning if you know what I mean. Crows or ravens are God's creature. God can make or use the bad or negative stuff of the world to use it for our good. But how do we recognize that? If God wants to provide for us does it really matters HOW He does it? To me it does not matter anymore. God so loved us that he can provide for us even in the most "undesirable" way according to our thinking and we need to be like Elijah to accept it. We need the eyes of faith to see like Elijah that God's blessings and providence in whatever situation is really from God Himself. It does not matter the situation or the how but He provides no matter what! Secondly, its a good disguise for nobody would follow a raven to where its going. So, by doing this God is also hiding Elijah in a more secure location without being found out as he is being hunted down by Ahab and his wife throughout Israel. God's ways are never our ways!
  4. Its not easy to speak truth to power esp if you're a lone ranger. In this case, Elijah was not part of the "band of prophets". He works alone (i believe) so for him to get into a confrontation with the most powerful men in this country would have been frightening. But i dont think that deter him. He must have reflected and prayed a lot about the situation in his country. He would have struggled but once he has decided to be the Lord's spokeperson there is nothing to stop him. He was ready to fight this battle till the end but at great cost to his life as we shall find out later in the studies.
