  1. Ahaz was not a true believer and was not fallowing God, so when he heard the prophecies they did not ring true with him. If we are not seeking Jesus when the Holy Spirit speaks to us we do not hear or it is easy to ignore what the Holy Spirit says. Then we try to figure out what to do just like Ahaz did. Gods ways are not our ways.
  2. To me this prophecy speaks of the time after the second coming of Christ Jesus. All people will seek the Yahweh and they will all live together in peace.
  3. The People of Judah don't know how they were in God. It is the same today we don't know who we are in Christ Jesus. We are the loved sons of the creator of the world. If we could just truly understand this we could live with the faith and love of Christ and truly be Christ like. But we do have identity confusion and we live week and powerless lives that can be effected by the powers of darkness..
  4. I am not sure how to say this but I have just read through the post and it make me sad to hear the these terms used: teaches US, strengthens US, increases OUR faith, OUR success, leads US. It is not about US. Paul says "take up your cross daily". This means to kill the flesh. Until the flesh (person) is out of the picture the Holy Spirit can not work. Either the flesh is in control of our life or the Holy Spirit is in control of our life. David learned this as is recorded in 2 Samuel 12: 13-23. From that point on in his life David was dead and the Holy Spirit was alive. A prayer; Lord what are you doing today could I tag along.
  5. How does this story teach us the importance of listening carefully to God's voice? God only give us instruction one step at a time. If we don't follow a step we don't hear the next step. God says He will give us what we need for today. How do we learn to listen to the Spirit? For me it is spending time in quite meditation. I can't hear from Him if I always have noise going or always talking.
  6. Could it be that rebellion and occult are the same? Occult members worship some one other then Yahweh. Could it be when we are rebellious to Yahweh we are worshiping ourselves?
  7. Q2. (Mark 10:21) Why do you think Jesus requires the rich young ruler to divest himself of his fortune? Why does this trouble us so much? We have listen to the pastors tell us that if you come to Jesus our life will be easy and we will have no problems. What a lie. Jesus is trying to tell us that it will be costly to fallow Him. This troubles us because we want instant happiness, we don't want to sacrifice for the kingdom, our flesh want the easy life. It is not about what we can do for God it is taking the flesh out of the way, so Jesus can flow through us. It took Moss and Paul many years in the wilderness for Jesus to break the flesh and for them to learn to live confidence of the love of the Father.
  8. Posted 24 May 2010 - 11:16 AM By lion of Grace I think sexual **** is difficult to people for many different reasons. First, we all have a God given sexual drive that is very strong by God's design. Men for the most part are visual beings and are tempted outside of marriage to **** after what they "see". If women do not feel loved and cared for, they act out "perceived" love in sexual misbehavior to satisfy an emotion. Many sexual addictions grow out of other areas. Sexual abuse in formative years contributes to confusion about love and sex. Unhealthy decisions to view *********** "just once" can set anyone on a journey battling **** and sexual sin for years. Going to see sexually charged movies, though rated acceptable by society or listening to sexually explicit music can all affect our willingness to give in to temptation when confronted with the real opportunity. Our society bombards us with everything sexual in magazines, on TV and anywhere advertisement is seen! So...in the midst of all these circumstances....how can we keep sexual desire from controlling us? From one who suffered from sexual molestation as a young teen from persons in authority, I took a plunge down into the darkness of immorality and all the "stuff" that came with it. I first had to learn who I was in Christ. That He loved me and never left me through those times and that He had plans for me to take me from that way of life and give me wholeness and a new life. I took His hand and began my journey, first overcoming bitterness and forgiving those who abused me. As the heaviness and darkness fell away, I began to see who God had created me to be and that I was worth more than what I had experienced and had begun to treat myself like. He loved me so much...through so much....I fell in love with Him....and I've never been the same! The journey was long and hard.....but believing in His love gave me the courage to get back up after every slip and fall. I was consumed with knowing Him more and more and the Bible became my constant companion. It became life to me. I learned ways to overcome from the Word and through Bible studies that I'm never without. One was on "Pulling the window shade of your mind" when faced with temptations or images. I literally learned to bring one down on my thoughts when anything tried to enter in. I prayed and prayed and prayed for help and cried and cried and cried when I failed. In it, God was faithful....but I had to choose....to believe....to follow....and to live.....accepting His goodness and promises to me. I fell in love with HimAMEN Thank you for sharing
  9. To me prayer is talking to my best friend with whom I have a personal relationship. That is Jesus Christ of Nazareth. It is not just a time on my knees but much more when something comes up I ask Him about it, like what should I do what should I say. Also a large percentage of my prayers are just thanking Jesus for what He has done for me and others. I also thank Him for keeping bad things from happen to me and other. What would this life be like if Jesus did not keep the plans of Satan from coming to fruition?
  10. Q3. (Colossians 4:5-6) What instructions does Paul give us in sharing our faith with non-believers? Why, do you think, we sometimes let opportunities slip by? How will our conversation being
  11. The world can do anything the church can do, except show grace. The churches in America show very little grace. The system of denominations in the church universal is not of Christ. His plan is one church living confident that we are loved by the Father, then living in that love and loving all the other in the body. Grace will flow out of this type of love.
  12. So what is the relationship between obedience and answered prayer? There is no relationship between obedience and answered prayer. The relationship is between God and us. He loves the worst sinner the with the same degree of love as the most holy person. There is no amount of obedience willl give you any favor with God. Prayer is the talk between two persons in a relationship. Do we "earn" God's favor through obedience? Complete Gospel: God loves you. Incomplete Gospel: God loves you if... ... P. M. Summer
  13. What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives? The **** of the flesh is the passionate desire of the body, the **** of the eye is passionate desire of the soul through the eyes, and the vainglory of life is the empty pride, boast, and display of the material thing of the present life. These are the components of the world. Why is worldliness so harmful to our future? We can't serve two masters. We are either of the this world and serve the ruler of this world ( the devil) or we are passing through this world and we belong to the kingdom of the Father and we are not of this world as He is not of this world.
  14. What is "the world" in verses 15-16? I think the world is everything but God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. What kind of love of "the world" keeps us from loving the Father? We are to love the Father with the same kind of love that He loves us with. Do you know the Father loves you no matter what you do? He love you the same if you are the best Christian or if you are the most evil person in the world. I know the human mind can't believe that but it true. When we become believers He puts that love in us so we can love other like He loves us. But I say; I don't love like that. I think the reason why we don't love like that is because we are not confident in the Fathers love. If we relax and live in the Father love, His love will flow out of us. Just trust and obey. Love of the world is to put anything first before the Fathers love. I mean anything our life, prayer, bible reading, church, family, job and money. Father just wont be in second place to anything else in your life.
  15. How can we be serious about obeying Christ without become legalistic and judgmental, with a self-righteous attitude like the Pharisees had? If we set out to obey, it becomes works. Then it is something I did and I am proud if my work. Just like the Pharisees. But if we are in a loving relationship with Jesus, obeying will naturally flow out of that love. How do love and legalism differ? Love is a action of gratitude. Legalism is an action of fear. How can we be serious about obedience and make love our center? If you are confident that God Loves you and will care for you. Then you are freed up to Love and care for other people. This is obedience
  16. What is the result when a Christian walks in darkness, that is, continues willfully to do what he or she knows to be wrong? Eternity in hell How does this involve self-deception? You may say God will forgive me but what you are doing is making a idol God. You are deceiving your self by saying I can do what I want and God will for give me. That is not the God of the bible What is the result, according to verse 7, when we walk in the light? The blood of Jesus cleanse our every sin How do we get back into the light if we sin? Repent
  17. How would you define "confession"? Saying to another and to Jesus what your sin is. Why is confessing our sins so important? After confessing a sin we forgiven by Jesus and the sin is cast away never to be brought up again. What happens to us if we stop confessing our sins? The devil then uses our sins against us. Our relationship with Jesus is short-circuited. We pull away from Jesus. What are the promises given to us if we do confess our sins? They will put away as far as the east is from the west.
  18. What assurance does John give us if we do sin? Jesus absorbed the wrath of God against us the wrenched sinner. Jesus paid our fine before the righteous judge (God the Father) We are guilty but we are free because of what Jesus did on the cross. How does this comfort us? I am righteous before God the Father. How does it make us want to avoid sin? O what a price Christ paid for me, I just want to love Him and that love produces holiness.
  19. Why is our fellowship with fellow Christians so often just on a surface level? I think it is because we are not confident that God loves us. Here is some verses that may help you see what I am saying He choose us John 15:16 He loved us first 1 John 4:10 Then He fixed the relationship 1 John 4:10 He sent His Son as a propitiation for our sin He put love in us (1 John 2:5) Our love of God, denotes our love toward God, which is generated by His love within us He gave us brotherly love 1 John 4:21 He who loves God love his brother also. How can we have fellowship at a deeper level in Christ? Be confident that God loves us What would it take in your Christian group or your relationships with other believers to deepen your level of fellowship so it is authentically Christian? If you are confident that God Loves you and will care for you. Then you are freed up to Love and care for other people.
  20. This may appear to be a crazy thought at first. But God is responsible for putting Christ on the cross. God is pure and holy and just. So nothing that is not pure and holy can be in His presents. God wrath against unholiness had to be absorbed by some one. Jesus took the job of making the unholy sinful man holy again. Jesus can to earth to live to show men holiness. Jesus then took the cup Matthew 26:42 that held the wrath of God and drank till the last drop. He went to the cross to die a death for each of us so we can have a new live in Christ Jesus our Lord. When He died the curtain of the Holy of Holies was tore from top to bottom allowing all access to God through the death of Christ n the cross. We can now stand in the presents of God in a white robe covered in the blood of Jesus. When God looks at us all He see is the holiness of Jesus. Thank you Jesus!!!
  21. Q5. (Romans 8:13-14) What does it mean to "mortify" or "put to death" the deeds of the body by the Spirit? What would it look like to watch a person do this? What does it mean to be "led" by the Spirit? What does this look like in actual practice? How do "putting to death" and being "led" by the Spirit fit together? How much of this is the Spirit and how much is us? Paul says " Take up your cross daily" The cross is a execution device to kill the flesh. Our days are controlled by the flesh or by the Spirit. For the Spirit to be in control of our lives the flesh must be killed ( put into submission). We do this through prayer and repentance. To do this is a step in living a Christ like life
  22. This is not really an answer to the question, but it is about the Spirit. Did you know that you are a part of the trinity? The trinity is the Farther God, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. You can say I don't see my name in that list of the three. Read these verses "... The Spirit of God lives (oikeō) in you." (8:9b) "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living (oikeō) in you...." (8:11a) "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives (oikeō) in you?" (1 Corinthians 3:16) "... Guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives (enoikeō) in us." (1 Timothy 1:14) If the Holy Spirit is part of the trinity and the Holy Spirit is living in you then are you not a part of the trinity? To me this is almost blasphemy. But this is what the bile says. It is very humbling to think of myself as part of the trinity. My Father God, My brother Jesus Christ, and myself with the Holy Sprit in me is the trinity To me this thought makes me want to walk in the Spirit.
  23. What is the doctrine of "total depravity"? We are vile sinners and can do nothing righteous. Isaiah 64:6 Put it in your own words. Does it mean that none of God's original goodness shows through? We know what is right but we are powerless to do what is right on our own. Then what does it mean? We are sinners bound for hell if we do not except Christ as our savior. Why does modern man tend to believe that man is basically good? The modern seeker friendly gosipel, God is all loving and he would not send anyone to hell. This appeals to modern man because he can live as he likes and still go to heaven to meet a teddy bread type God that is all loving. Everyone wants to go to heaven they just don't want to meet a Hloy and righteous God when they get there. Just read the greatest sermon in moder time by Johnathan Edwards "Sinners in the hand of a angry God"
