Godliness is not entirely about doctrine although that is part of it. godliness is about character and God will go to extreme lengths to make sure that your character is perfected. This process will take lifetimes. We are ever becoming more and more like our father each day until eternity. Godliness is needed in our leadership because people learn by example and instruction. Godliness can be taught in that the process involves study of the word, prayer, fasting, serving, evangelizing and other things as well.

Godliness has an aspect of doctrine but it also is about your character. How you conduct yourself, love and purity of heart. The fruits of the spirit are key. It's the fruit of your actions that speak louder than words.

The scripture relates godliness to discipline. Like an athlete, we must be consistently working at our godly character to be evermore like Christ.

Because people have itching ears and the information age has made it so that people can get a hold of any wind of doctrine and provide evidence for it. We must be rooted in the word at every moment and on guard all the time from seducing spirits. Even now so more than ever before because we are in the last days and all is being revealed. Truth is prevailing and expelling the darkness. It is very important for the light seekers to be connected to God constantly and a steady diet of the word.

If you as a man of God cannot control your wife or your children, you are not fit to lead a church, periodt. Or be in positions of leadership in general. Especially if your wife is acting up and rebelling and undermining your authority that is a major red flag that you as a man are not following God's instructions and laws.

Subtle differences but all of them are saying basically the same thing. A person with self control, sound doctrine, one husband, one wife, not a gossiper

SELF CONTROL!!!!! point blank, you don't have this trait you are not fit to lead.

Do not put someone in a position of leadership simply because of their resume, because they are smooth talkers, because they have a phD, because they have a family. These are all good things, but you need to look closer. And wait. Watch and see the fruit in their lives.

This is a hotbed of discussion and there are so many factors to consider. Women are to be entirely submissive that means when their husband and in the case of single women like myself spiritual authority like their pastors, they should listen and not argue. There needs to be a level of trust because we as women are to listen without question. This is why it's so important to have godly men in positions of leadership in the church. All of these instructions are not to control women but protect women as the receivers that we are. Men transmit messages, women are to receive the message and carry it out.

It's a level of humility that God is requiring of us. It makes me feel a bit sick to see people like pastors wear flashy things to show off. There's nothing wrong with quality or even expensive things, but it's more about your heart and remaining humble and that everything you have is because of the glory of God. I'm thinking this is also tied to giving, women are to be godly so that involves being generous. She should always be looking for a way to give good gifts to people and bless them. Not to be selfish and keep things for herself.

Paul is referring to leaders spreading false doctrine, people a lot like himself before his conversion. Leadership requires that your heart is pure. Transfer of spirits where you pass on your spirit to others is a serious offense when done improperly. It is possible to transfer a pure spirit to someone such as the case for discipling someone.

We needed to be rescued from our sin in this world and translated to the kingdom of light. A mediator can operate in both dimensions like that. Ransom means although salvation is free for everyone, it cost a lot to offer that free gift which was Jesus body crucified.

Salvation is the free gift to anyone who believes. It's not just for kings, noble or noteworthy people but rather for everyone. The provision was made for everyone to be saved, however everyone will not be saved. There is a heaven and a hell. If all men nee salvation then the church must be evangelizing

Timothy is reminded because he will forget. To combat doubt. Fighting the good fight means contending for the good things of God.
