  1. Q4. (1:6-7) Can you remember any instances in which God used difficult circumstances to refine and purify your faith? What is difficult circumstances? I'm so richly blessed by the Lord that it is difficult to state or list difficult circumstances that influenced my Spiritual growth. I might be able to mention the time when my Son stopped breathing at the age of seven days where one pray like one has never prayed before and felt His presence... now he is a lad of 15 years. Other difficulties that might cross my path is that we are in a turmoil at work and some of us might be unemployed soon and yet this is a difficulty of the world and if one trust in Him all will be well even if it is not the way we would prefer it. In this situation one can be a wonderful witness for the Lord because His Power allows one to be positive and creative amidst all the negativity that surrounds one in the workplace. This is only possible if one has faith and truly beleives that He is in control.
  2. Hi I must only beleive in Him. By Faith alone will one be safed. God will not allow anything to happen to me that is not according to his Will and Plan. That does not mean I can become totally reckless or that it will only be good in my life. Bad things do happen to "good" exaplary Christians. Johann
  3. I beleive that it is an on-going lifelong battle or challenge of every Christian to life like an abassador and be a real representative of the land of our King and not as a tourist running around in a strange unknown land where we can do as we please because no-one knows you. I also know a religious leader has it difficult in this life because everyone looks up to them for many beleive they are setting the example (surely God is our example) but on the other hand everyone in a normal job with a family and other community responsibilities do have a difficult time to let Jesus shine through them at all times. When we fail so dismally we can only trust the promises made in the bible and know that He will never let us go astray. We can only ask His forgiveness and allow Him again to lead the way. He has a purpose for everyone of us and we need to study and pray for guidance at all times. My short answer to the question is : If a Christian identifies more with the present homeland he or she is luke warm. I am guilty of that all the time and therefore we need to turn to God everyday ask His forgiveness and also His help and guidance to prevent us from repeating the same mistakes.
  4. Hi I'm Johann Moller and I'm from South Africa. I am also new to this format of Bible Study and think it is going to be better than attending night school. I hope that the non synchronous nature of the study will allow one to keep it up and also keep the home and work going at the same time. I'm married and have a wonderful wife and two children. A son and daughter. We attend the Rooihuiskraal Reformed Church and I'm actually Afrikaans speaking and doing Bible study in English will be a new thing for me. I'm an Instructional Designer developing Multimedia and Online learning for Unisa which is one of the largest Distance Education Tertiary Education Universities in South Africa. We have approx. 190,000 students. I hope to get at least a third of these to study online.
