  1. I would say Isaac's. However, there were times that I did things that were deceitful, so, even as a Christian we must guard our hearts against deceitful ways. The enemy is subtle, it starts with a small seed sown and delusion and deceit sets itself in our hearts. My daily prayer is that God mold and shape me according to His purpose and will. Lord your will be done and not mine. We need to remind ourselves about humility, integrity and the whole Word of God. "Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee." (James 4:7 KJV). We must do our part to live holy and God will surely do His part. Cynthia
  2. I did grow up in a home that favortism was shown toward particular children. Well, I was a third child and the first female child in our family. My oldest brother sensed that he wasn't getting all the attention he desired and I received the negative effects of his behavior as I got older. I didn't understand as a child why he didn't care for me, all I knew was he disliked me. Favortism is still shown toward other siblings, but I'm an adult and realize that as a believer I have the greatest love of all from my heavenly Father. It doesn't bother me, I love my parents dearly. We can love our children equally by expressing genuine affirmations of their character and the things they do.
  3. [font="Lucida Console"]There is no excuse for Rebekah's deceitful behavior. Isn't God omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient? He didn't need Rebekah's help to fulfil the plans he purposed for their sons. Jacob bears full responsibility. Just as I read in devotion this morning concerning Aaron and Moses, they were told by God to speak to the rock and command it to bring forth water, instead Moses struck the rock twice in anger and rebelled against God. Aaron was also held responsible for this action, he could not enter into the promised land, but died prematurely as Moses on top of the mountain due to his silent agreement with Moses and rebellion. We are held responsible for actions whether it was silent agreement or otherwise. We all will one day give an account of the words we have spoken and the deeds that we have done in our body. 4. Yes Rebekah was a spiritual woman, however the motives of her heart were impure. She had many issues of deceit and lying. She knew nothing of being a woman of integrity and noble character. She wasn't a woman that her husband could confidently trust in, since she chose to deceive her husband. Isaac was a spiritual man. However, even though he was blind physically, he lacked spiritual discernment and dependence on God. He sensed something wasn't right about the person he was about to blessed, instead of asking God if he was speaking to the right person, he relied on his physical sense, the touch of hair on his son's hand. So, we see when we rely on self to lead and guide us, we'll eventually find ourselves on the wrong path. Rebekah and Isaac considered themselves spiritual, however, instead of comparing there spirituality, one can ask: Is my heart in alignment and agreement with God? There is spirituality in everyone, whether it be aligned with God or of the evil one, Satan. Esau did not have a have a heart that treasured things of eternity. He lacked reverence, respect and value for the things of God. Jacob, although he was cunning and deceitful knew the value of inheritance for himself and the next generations to come. Cynthia
  5. The Scripture has given us everything that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue...(II Peter 1:3). It is through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and a daily submission to the Lord Jesus Christ that we able to become vessels fit for the master's use. "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." (II Timothy 2:20-21). The gold and silver being representative of obedient Christians and the wood and clay being representative of Christians who fail to honor and obey the Lord. Verse 16 is applied in various churches for doctrine, reproof and correction, for instruction in righteousness. One must first of all learn how to submit to authority, receive reproof , correction and instruction in righteousness. A continual renewal of the mind by reading and meditating in the Word and applying the Word in one's life. Cynthia
  6. A Form of Religion Without Power Jesus said, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Matthew 23:27,28 When we are not abiding in Christ, the enemy is waiting around the corner to release deception into our hearts. It is so easy for flesh to think the best of itself and look down on others and despise them. As the Lord has released a strong conviction in my heart to continually abide in Him through obedience, prayer and His Word, I'm more alert to my behavior and attitude. Those things that don't line up with His Word, I repent and ask God to help me to apply His Word in my life. Now, when I see other believers not abiding in Christ and exhibiting hypocrisy, my heart is saddened and I know it grieves the heart of the Holy Spirit. Instead of me being judgmental and critical, I'm choosing to be forbearing and to pray. When we lose the power of our Lord Jesus and have a form of religion, souls are not being won, captives are not being set free, the gospel is not being demonstrated in the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I say let's drop the pretense, hypocrisy and truly be the salt and light of the earth.
