If humility is missing then you can become too pridefull. You will begin to think yourself higher than God. (Personally i think thats not really smart.) And if your faith in God is gone then you start not believing in Him. If that happens then you will start moving farther and farther down the wrong path.

If God's plans are focussed on me then I know that whenever I need him he is there for me. And I also begin to feel more confident, knowing that God is on my side.

I believe we need to be reminded because we can easily be distracted. And if we start to move off track we can get back on. Plus if we know that the WICKED WILL PERISH than it should make us not want to be wicked.
