Teaching different doctrines other then the true gospel causes dissention in the church and people can not work together when there is differences in opinions. There cannot be any growth when there is not minds that think and strive for the same purpose and that is to tell others about Jesus Christ.

Paul keeps reminding Timothy that he will face persecution and that Satan will always be around to try to temp him to go the other way. Be strong and keep the faith in other words.
