rigid unsmiling orthodoxy doesn't produce godliness because those are words not examples or right living. you have to be an example because lips lie and actions don't.

i say godliness is having an abundance of God in your life and acting accordingly. Godliness is produced by knowing the word of God and following his commands. morality is restrictive self-imposed and boring. it is what man looks upon compared to what God sees you as.

Legalistic requirements appear to be wisdom to some. It produces self-righteousness. You can only be made righteous through the Holy Spirit, not through anything you do.

Paul reminds Timothy of this prediction so that he recognizing it as truth at that the prediction has come to be. Knowing this, the church should recongnize the false teachings as being of the devil and should seek the truth

the overseeer is called to teach and must stick to the gospel as it is written and not be persuaded. the elders and decons are to support the overseer by encouraging others to stick to the message as it is taught and not sway toward new doctrine.

you want the paritioners to feel comfortable and not bullied into their decision to serve God. the officers are representative of the church. if you don't consider this it will reflect badly on the church as a whole(all Christians will be categorized)

there behavior is being watched by sinners as a representation of who christ is. during the testing and observation you are to look for spiritual maturity and character

by husband of one wife, i think it is taken literally regardless of the time period. One wife is enough to handle more than one can drive a man insane and pull his attention and loyalties away from God. All great leaders lead by example so i think you have to have control over your children in order to lead a whole flock in the right direction.

the way they dressed was dividing the church by social class. in todays church we can lead by example and gently steer those around us to dress modestly without pomp and circumstance

the men were infighting in the congregation. god will not honor or listen to the prayers until the one praying has reconciled to his brother and has a pure heart.

the Gentiles were being excluded from learning about salvation. this suggested that their evangelism was geared toward the jews only and that they may have believed that salvations was for the selected few only

Since payl had been imprisoned and received God's mercy; he was letting oythers know that it was not to late to turn around,God will grant them mercy. This will encourage them to get it together and serve God.
