  1. SIN is costley. Not only in the physical sense but it separates you from God. God in his righteous mercy provided the means by which we could be brought back into right standing with him through sacrifice. We were made in the likeness of Jesus so that we all could walk with him in his glory and be with the father. God loved you and I so much that he couldnt stand our being separated from him and not being able to fellowship with him so he provided the most costly sacrifice he could. His only begotten Son Jesus. I can not in my wildest dreams see myself giving one of my children to go through the brutel beating for your sin or mine and then be nailed to a cross. What mercy and what love.
  2. There is a real sense in which god uses the sacrificial system to teach Jews lessons of sin, holinesss, confession, forgiveness, sin's costliness, and sin' horror. For a time God in His mercy, allowed sacrifices to purge their sins knowing full well that these were not adequate and that the only pure sacrifice was yet to come.
  3. Basic Elements of Sacrifice form Sin It is in the book of Leviticus particularly chs.1-7, that the sacrifical system of the O.T is set forth. There were five types of sacrifice in the Tabernacle and later in the temple--burnt offering grain offering, peace or fellowship offering sin(purification)offering, and guilt(reparation)offering. The explaination is in depth. Read all references and the side bar for a full understanding, space and legenth is a problem here.
  4. Let me address the second part of the question first. The reason the blood is so repulsive is we are not use to having to slaughter our meat or chicken therefore the only blood that is seen is in the styrofoam tray. Blood is repulsive because it is mostly related to grizzly murders or horrible episodes of brutality. Think about it though, how much more brutal could the beating Jesus took for you and I be so we could be healed by those stripes. The shed blood of the Lamb was necessary orginally for the covering of sin. The farmers and herdsman were accustom to butchering their meat and farmers in later years were also use to it since it was the only means of obtaining food for the table.I think we need to be horrified by the sightr since we have become desensitized by all the brutality we see on TV or in the movies so we just dont think much about it any more. The Passion of the Christ is the best thing to come to the movies in years for more reasons than one. Not only did it show the brutel beating Jesus took but it also showed the evil in the world then and now.
  5. Sin today angers God as it did in the garden. God was not angry at Adam and Eve he was angry at the sin they performed just as He gets at us when we sin. He did not remove them from the garden as a means of getting even with them He just did what He said He would do if they ate of the tree. Then as a loving and just God hen provided a sacrifice to cover the sin, buy bring a lamb. sheep or bull to sacrifice for their sin. When God realized that the blood of an animal could not cover their sin He sent his only pure and sinless Son Jesus to dies on the cross and once and forever cover our sins and give us eternal life with Him and Jesus.
  6. Isaiah 53:7 compared as 'lamb to the slaughter' and as "sheep before her shearers is silent"If this wasen't our Lord and Saviour I don't know who they could have been talking about.
