  1. Yes, there have been moments throughout my life when I felt worthless and of no value. Peter tells redeemed disciples that our worth transcends material value standards of life on earth. God
  2. It is my belief that people in our culture are upset when they perceive they are being judged by someone for several reasons. First, I think people have a misunderstanding of the idea of
  3. Peter wrote this letter to Christians enduring difficulty. They were living in the dangerous times of the reign of an insane emperor
  4. Yes, on reflection there have been many points in my life where God has refined and purified my faith through difficult situations. Each time He was able to see the character of Jesus more clearly reflected in my life. I believe that it enables us to discern the eternally significant from the materially insignificant. Any time we make life choices based on what is eternal and give our lives to what is significant to Christ, then He receives glory. We persevere in the present as we learn to focus intently on the future when we are perfectly united with Christ. Again, I believe He receives glory when we deliberately focus on His eternal promises rather than the instant sensual gratification of the material world.
  5. The salvation in 1:5 seems to be referring to the fullness of the redeemed disciple
  6. Forgiveness is a gift from the Creator God to the created human. It is offered on His terms and it is to be received on His terms. At any point that we as humans try to restrict or constrict God
  7. The behavior does not reflect a practical understanding of sanctification or cooperation with God's Spirit in us (primarily to enable us to live sanctified lives) (1:2) This behavior clarifies that they really do not know who they are or how connected they are to God the Father, the Son and the Spirit (1:1-2, 8) I believe every disciple who has obediently responded to God's call through His inspired Word will struggle with choosing whose behavior will be reflected through their lives - God's or the devil's. To get our spiritual priorities straight we must remember our identity (1:1-2) and our inheritance (1:3-5) as we face the inconvenience of trials (1:6-7). We must let God reveal to us what is really significant (1:9; Mark 8:34-38). Only then will we refrain from giving the time and energy of our lives to what is totally insignificant.
