  1. Q2. (2 Peter 1:6) Why is a disciplined devotional life important to you? What happens when you forget or don't have time? What Christian disciplines do you employ to help you open your spirit to God's Spirit? It is important to me because without my daily dose of God I'm lost. When I say my daily I mean alllll day dose. I don't forget and I always have the time. We all have the time its the not forgetting that can be tough. A few of my diciplines are; (please don't laugh at some of them...it works) Everytime I get in the car I pray, not because I am a bad driver because I'm not I just like the alone time. When I take a shower I pray. When I cook dinner I pray, thanking God for the food to prepare, the family home (if they are) and the ability to prepare edible meals. Whenever I use the bathroom I read the bible. Now I use it everyday and more then once so I can get alot of reading done. (depending on the situation) If I am eating a meal alone I read while eating . (Only in my head though, not out loud so I don't choke) There are so many ways we can get our reading and praying in, you just have to want to.
  2. Q1. (2 Peter 1:5-6) Which of these virtues so far has been the easiest for you to move into. Which has been the hardest for you? Why? I could say any one of them is easy and any one of them is hard. Most times I feel that self control is the easiest. It didn't use to be but I have trained myself to think before reacting to anything. Now that I have trained myself to be in control of self I find I don't have to work on that one as much which gives me time to work on all the other ones. The hardest for me personally is knowledge. There is so much I want to know and learn that it can be overwhelming. I have to practice self control in this area alot. Hence the reason for this course.
  3. We can let our desires erode our faith by desiring them more then we desire God. It can take over our lives. Instead we should desire to tell others and bring others to Jesus and sincerly desire to do everything that is pleaseing to God. In order to fully please God and to tell others about Him we have to know Him and have a knowledge of him because we can't tell others what we don't know. Sometimes something may seem pleaseing and good but it can overwhelm our thoughts and actions taking away from pleasing God. We should aways endevor to have enough room in our lives for God because he ALWAYS has room for us.
  4. God's glory and goodness is so great and to think that we only see a small measure of it is awe inspiring. To know that he uses this glory and goodness to call me out of this wicked world to learn about him and to teach others about him is one of the greatest things. To know that his presence is in each of us makes you want to be sure that you are living your life as to please him. To show him the proper respect in all aspects of my life. His goodness and moral excellence is beyond comprehension. I try everyday to live life using his example for us as a guide. We will never be able to match his moral excellence but he did leave us the 10 commandments as a guide and so we should do our utmost in keeping these moral values.
  5. Of course we know this to mean that God will provide for everything we need but yes, there are boundries. In Matthew 6:33 it tells us that if we "seek Gods kingdom and His righteousness first then all these things will be given to you as well". If we ask Him for foolish or selfish things we can expect that He will NOT provide them for us. If we are asking so as to put His kingdom and His righteousness first He WILL give us all we ask for and more. Again it goes back to having faith in Him also that He will provide for us exactly what we need. He knows us intimatly after all He created us but how well do we know Him? How can we be sure we are asking Him according to His desire? We have to get to know Him intimatly. We always need to be seeking the "knowledge" that Peter is talking about so we can have faith that we are asking God for things we need correctly and not selfishly.
  6. Peter had a lot of faith and ours is as precious as his. It is equal to his and has the same value. Since God gave us the gift of faith we just have to use it. All we need is faith the size of a mustard seed to accomplish much but most people don't even use that much of their gift of faith. If it appears that Peter or anyone else has more faith then us maybe its because we aren't exercising or using our faith to its full measure.
  7. Hi my name is Laura and I live in Starks Louisiana. I'm currently studing street evangelism and the 10 commandments with The Way of the Master online and am really looking forward to studing these 2 bible books on line as well. The more we know and understand the more we can share God's word with others.
