  1. Paul is reminding Timothy that he is not there of his own will, but of God's will; to spread the good news of Christ. To fight the good fight means ,to me, to stand firm im the truth of Christ's love and God's forgiveness. Not to be shaken by the world around me or the forces that may try to knock me down. Paul is encouragind Timothy to stay strong. Even though things seem hopeless, hope is never lost. Paul is trying to counter the temptation to go along with the crowd. It would be easy for Timothy, in his youth, to go along with what is popular. This is a reminder to us all to stand firm in our faith, regardless of what is considered popular. The enemy tries to trick us every day into doing what is not right, we need to remember that even when things are hard, God is with us. As long as we stand firm, we will be safe in his arms.
  2. We learn that God is everything. He is eternal and almighty, there is no one like Him and He can not be vanquished! I have used doxoolgy in praise and worship; it brings God's presence closer and it solidifies my trust and justifies my faith. Glory be to the almighty and wonderful Father God!!
  3. Paul is showing them examples of why the law is needed. He is showing them what the law was intended for. He is also giving them reason to trust him. After all, he knows what being ungodly is all about. Paul is telling the church that all men have sinned. Even Paul. All men at some point need the law. God pours his grace and mercy freely; on all men. God does not choose us by our rank or standing, or by how well we carry out the law. He gives it freely. All men are entitled to His love.
  4. The false doctrines inEphesus resulted in division in the church. Just as fals doctrines today take the focus from God and place it on worldly things, Arguments, doubt, division; these things all turn the church away from its purpose. To teach the word of God.
