  1. What does it tell us about the status of the Lamb that he is worshipped alongside "him who sits on the throne"? This tells us that He is indeed also God....a part of the Holy Trinity....the Lamb is the Father, the Lamb is the Holy Spirit, the Lamb is our Jesus, the Son.....they are one......and yes, worthy to be praised.
  2. What has the Lamb done to "triumph" and so become worthy to take the scroll and open its seals? (Hint: See the "for" or "because" clause in 5:9 for the answer.) Jesus, the Lamb, paid for us, redeemed us with His blood.....and we are now saints with Him in Glory. Since this atonement He is the one worthy to open the seals. Not just His chosen, but me too !!! Prasie God.....
  3. (Revelation 5:6) Decode (that is, identify) each of the following symbols that relate to the Lamb: The lamb itself represents ....Jesus who takes away the sin of the world as proclaimed by John the Baptist Standing after being slain indicates ...He, our Lord, overcame death Horns represent ....power and strength...7 representing completion or perfection Eyes represent ...the all seeing, all knowing authority of God, our Redeemer The number seven carries the idea of ...completeness or perfection To summarize, then, the Lamb has the qualities of being of ....the gentle Lamb who lays down His life for many, and becomes the Lion....an opposite yet same thing for God. He shed His blood yet raised from the dead to complete a victory over death for us.
  4. Why is the Lamb called "the Lion of the tribe of Judah" and "the Root of David"? What do these titles signify about him? The Lamb is also the Lion of Judah and the Root of David because Jesus came out of this house, or lineage. This was a fulfillment of prophecy that Jacob made over his son Judah. It was also a prophecy that the Messiah would be from the house and lineage fo David....our Jesus fulfills this also. He cam and set us free from the bondage of sin and death...He is the true Lamb of God.
  5. In what way does each celebration of the Lord's Supper anticipate a future Passover meal? (Matthew 26:29; Luke 13:28-29; 14:15; 22:30; Revelation 19:9; 1 Corinthians 11:26) I think it anticipates that final banquet when we gather together with our loved ones....our Jesus.....when we see face to face our Lord and Savior. He loves us so much that He lay down His life for us....shed His blood, gave His body.
  6. Why is it so important to forgive those who have offended us before partaking of the Lord's Supper? In what sense are the Lord's Supper and unforgiveness incompatible? (Consider Matthew 26:28; 1 Corinthians 11:27; Matthew 6:14-15; 5:23-24; James 5:16.) We need to forgive others before taking of the Lord's Supper because we need to do this in honor and remembrance of the blood sacrifice that Jesus made for us. If we just do this as a religious duty and do not have forgiveness toward others, how can we expect our Father to forgive us freely ? Matthew 26:28; His blood poured out for many.....He did this for me and you...... 1 Corinthians 11:27; We need to partake of this with respect so that nothing can be held against us. Matthew 6:14-15; We need to forgive others so that we can be forgiven. 5:23-24; If we have anything against our brother, it is better not to take of the Lord's Supper and hget ourselves right with that person. James 5:16.) We need to confess our sin and wrong doings, and pray, pray, pray
  7. Why should the words, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins" (Matthew 26:28) fill us with sorrow? Why should they fill us with joy? This statement would make us sorrowful because the act of pouring out blood must mean certain death.....to know that our Lord Jesus willingingly shed His blood as an atonement for our sin.....it is beyond words...He did this even if only for me.....He loved me that much. It fills us with joy because we are now forgiven and stand with Christ Jesus as an heir to the Kingdom of God.
  8. Compare the annual Jewish Passover celebration meal in Jesus' day with the Christian's celebration of the Lord's Supper. Where are the similarities? Where are the differences? The Passover meal was similar in that we share the body (unleavened bread) and the blood (cup of blessing wine)....the similarities are that we take of the bread and the wine....we stop before the serving of the Paschal Lamb.....because that Lamb is the true body and blood....our precious Jesus.
  9. In what way did the lambs on the first Passover protect the families of God's people? (Exodus 12) What is the primary point of comparison between the first Passover lambs and what Christ did for us as our Passover Lamb? During the 1st Passover in Egypt, the blood of the Passover lamb that was placed on the doorframe at the tops and the sides protected the first born of the people of Israel, so the death angel passed over their house. The first Passover lamb was a type of the second Passover Lamb....the living, Son of God made flesh for us. Jesus shed blood covers us.....from a certain death of sin. Maybe it is not applied around the doorframe.....but covers rather our heart and gives us salvation.
  10. Extra Credit: In what sense have we been set free or released from slavery to sin? Why do we need the Holy Spirit to help us keep this freedom? We are released form the bondage of sin because Christ paid the debt in full.....we no longer have to worry and fret....because He wiped the slate clean that day on Calvary. The Holy Spirit is our Conforter and keeps us drawn close to the heartbeat of God...with Him we are able to be empowered and walk with Christ.
  11. According to the slave-ransom analogy, who is the slave? What is he enslaved by? Who offers the ransom? If Satan is involved in the enslaving process, why isn't the ransom paid to him? Why isn't the slave-ransom analogy spelled out completely in the New Testament? We, the human race are the slaves....slaves to our sin, to our selfishness, our doubt..... our greed. The ransom was offerd by our Lord Jesus through his shed blood. I think the ransom was paid so that God might draw us close to Him under the New Covenant....so that He would no longer hold our sin against us.....Perhaps it is not spelled out completely for us because God is God....and He does what is best for us. No need to overthink everything, but step out on faith that the shed blood of Jesus paid my ransom in full. AMEN!!!!
  12. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) How should we disciples apply the principles: "You are not your own, you were bought with a price"? How should this affect our living? "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought (Greek agorazo) at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) I was bought with a price....not of silver or gold, or stacks of money....but by the shed blood of Jesus....wow....this should be present in every step I take and thought I have.....my Lord Jesus died for me....He paid for my sin and set me free. I need to live in a way that is an honor to God....with reverence for my body, my soul, my spirit man. I need to live in a way that shows the love of Christ for those around me....those who are easy to love and those that aren't...He did that for me.
  13. What comparisons do you see between Jesus and the role of the Old Testament type of the Kinsman-Redeemer? I think that God prepared the way for us to accept Christ....by the way He commanded us to live our lives. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament....we are the beloved relatives that are being bought by a price by our Lord....the one who frees us from the slavery of our sin and covers us with the price He paid in His blood.
  14. In the New Testament world, what class of humans were freed by payment of a redemption price or a ransom? Why do you think that Jesus, Peter, and Paul used this analogy in this week's theme verses. What about the Christian life does it help explain? The people that were freed by payment or redemption were slaves. I think this analogy was used because we were like slaves...slaves to our sin, to our old way of thinking, to feeling that we could handle things by our "religion"...but then Christ came to free us of that bondage....not with a payment of money....but with a payment of His blood....with each nail....I was set free to be made over in His likeness.
  15. Which single New Testament passage best sums up for you the lessons of Isaiah 53? Why did you chose this passage? List of NT Allusions to Isaiah 53 To me it sums up the power and peace of my Lord Jesus....on His own...with no force He willingly laid down His life for all of the world. Not just a chosen few but all of us.....all we must do is accept Him...and believe. 1 Peter 2:24-25 (The Message) 21-25This is the kind of life you've been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step. He never did one thing wrong, Not once said anything amiss. They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you're named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.
