  1. Q4. (Genesis 46:2-4) Faith is what quiets our fears. What in God
  2. Q3. (Genesis 45:4-8) Contrast Jacob and Joseph. Jacob has suffered great loss. Joseph has suffered great injustice. Why is Jacob's vision so bleak but Joseph's, so broad? Jacob is caught up in his sorrows and troubles but Joseph is trusting in the Lord and not looking at the troubles. What have been their differing responses to fear? Jacob draws up in a shell of quietness, when Joseph lets out to the Lord. What insight has kept Joseph from being bitter towards his brothers? I feel like the dreams the Lord has showed him has inspired him to believe in the Lord and keep his faith.
  3. Q1. (Genesis 37:31-35) What does bringing the blood-stained robe to Jacob say about these sons
  4. Q5. (Genesis 35:22) What is the significance of Reuben
  5. Q4. (Genesis 35:9-15) Why do you think God appears to Jacob yet another time? To assure him that He hasn't forgotten him and that He was still with him just like He had told him He would be the first time He had spoke with him. What are the primary promises that God renews to Jacob? That He would be his God and that he would be fruitful and increase in number, a nation and a community of nations will come from him, and kings will come from his body, and the land that He gave to Abraham and Isaac He would also give it to him and to his descendants after him.
  6. Q2. What happened when the Israelites disobeyed God and intermarried with the Canaanites? They fell into bondage by the Canaanites and worshiped their gods. Why do you think God commanded them not to intermarry? To keep them pure because He knew that if they intermarried with other tribes then they would follow their sins. Was this racial or spiritual or both? spiritual, it is obedience to God. Why are Christians to marry
  7. Q1. (Genesis 34) Why do you think Jacob is so silent after the rape of his daughter? I feel like Jacob was considering the safety of his family and possibly even praying and asking God what he should do in this situation before just jumping up and doing something like most of us so often seem to do and also like the two sons did in this matter. What should he have done instead of being silent? He may have done just what he needed to do even though a lot of times we would like to do something on our on but we were not in this position. What was right about the sons
  8. Q4. (4:10-11) If people are always promoting themselves and pointing to how God is using them, what does that say about them? When a person is only looking and promoting himself and how God is using him then he has allowed pride to slip in and take control of his mind, instead of giving Christ the Glory for all things because we cannot do anything without Christ that strengthens us. Their sense of self-worth? They are taking to much credit for what Christ is doing. It's good to allow Christ to work through us but we can never take credit for it. Their maturity? This person still has a lot of growing to do, and drawing closer to Christ Jesus for a closer revelation of Him. Their realism? They have not excepted the realism of the truth that every thing we do is about and because of Christ Jesus. Their humility? There is still need of repentance and humbling themselves before the Lord. What spiritual gifts has God given you, and how are you using them to his glory? The Lord has giving me a ministry through prison ministry and an opportunity to pastor a church and now He is even giving me an opportunity to go on a mission trip to Greece, I pray that some how the Lord will use me some how over there to glorify Him and His kingdom. And that I will always stay humble and recognize Him as Lord in my life in every thing I do.
  9. 3. (4:5-7) Why don't non-Christians like the idea of giving an account of their actions? Because they don't like facing the truth about their lives and knowing that they are living in sin. They don't like the feeling of conviction. Why don't we Christians like it? Sometimes we as Christians feel like we are okay because we are saved until we have to give an account for our actions then we realize that we are not what we should be either and that makes us feel and look bad so we just try to hide our actions. What should the realization that we must give an account of our actions inspire in us? This should inspire in us the mind of Christ so that we would try to live our lives with the same attitude of Christ. With what attitude should we live as a result? The attitude of Christ where we are dead from sin and our goal is to please the Father by showing the same love and forgiveness to others that Christ showed to us.
  10. Q2. (4:3-4) Why do non-Christians try to get you to sin with them. Non Christians will try to get you to sin with them so that they will not feel so bad or be convicted so bad if they can get you to do the same thing they are doing. Why are we tempted to do so? Because we don't like to be left behind and made fun of by our friends so a lot of times we will give in and join in with them even though we know we shouldn't. How can we resist this temptation? We resist this temptation by drawing closer to Jesus and by assembling ourselves with other Christians instead of worldly people.
  11. Q1. (4:1-2) When the scripture says "arm yourselves with the same attitude" as Christ had, how should this attitude help keep you from sin? If we had the attitude to please the Father in everything that we do then we would keep ourselves from sin. What attitude are we talking about? Christ suffered in the flesh so that we could be free from sin, although when Christ suffered on the cross he had told the Father not my will but thine be done therefore he was willing to please the Father.
  12. Q4. (Genesis 33:1-16) How has Esau changed since Jacob had gone to Haran? When Jacob left Haran, Esau was bitter and angry with Jacob even to the point he had plotted to kill Jacob. But now Esau has forgiving Jacob and was glad to see him welcoming him home with brotherly love. How has Jacob changed? Jacob left a deceiver and come back humbly and with a servants heart to the point of calling Esau lord when always before he wanted to dominate over Esau. How does the encounter demonstrate Jacob
  13. Q1. (Genesis 32:1-2) Why does God reveal the angel army to Jacob? Because God knows that Jacob is worried and scared of what he is going to have to face with his brother Esau and He wanted to assure Jacob that He was with him just as He had promised him. What is the significance of the presence of this army? To strengthen Jacob and assure him that God was with him just as He promised. Why do you think he calls the place Mahanaim (
  14. Q4. (3:20-21) Various Christian traditions have different practices of baptism -- the mode (sprinkling, pouring, immersion) and the age (infant vs. an age when a person can profess his or her own faith). Let's not argue about that in this forum. Let me ask you the crucial question for you -- Have you pledged your faith in Jesus Christ and promised to serve him as his disciple? How does this pledge relate to your own baptism? (Remember, no criticism of another's understanding of baptism in the forum. No fighting. No setting people straight -- seriously!) Yes, I have pledged my life to serve Christ and follow Him and His ways that I may be able to partake of His Glory in Heaven with Him. When I was baptized it was a special moment in my life and at that time I knew that my life would be different from then on, but that's not when I completely committed my life to serving Him. For this was truly the turning point of my life and its never been the same again. I know that its not the water that cleans me up but its my dedication to His will that truly changes my life for ever and this is where salvation lies. Baptism is the very first stage of our obedience to Christ and then we must go on to the perfection of the gospel, that is committing ourselves to following and serving Him by serving one another and loving one another.
  15. Q3. (3:18a) Meditate for a few minutes on this verse: "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." Now personalize it to imagine (1) your sins, (2) your unrighteousness, and (3) your reconciliation with God. Each of these ideas is awesome! Which of these three aspects of the verse has God impressed most strongly on you today? Select one of the three and share it. Reconciliation with God is the most impressed om me at this time for this really touches me to think of coming before the presence of God, to come before His grace and receive His peace in my heart. Everyday I pray to draw closer and closer to the Lord and to come before His presence and to know Him more intimately. To know that Christ died for my sins and my unrighteousness is awesome but to actually come before His presence is just breathtaking. Oh how I long to stand before the presence of the Father and His Glory. There has been so many times that I have seen the Glory of the Lord work in my life and my family and every time it just amazes me more and each time I believe that I just get a little closer to His presence.
  16. Q2. (3:15-16) Why is it so hard for us to be a witness when we're persecuted? When we are being persecuted the body and mind gets very weak and that begins to work on our faith as well, therefore allowing the flesh to get in the way and cause us to fail. Why is it easy in tough places to be the wrong kind of witness? Because to many times we have a tendency to give in to the weakness of the flesh when we need to be a standing strong for the Lord. Therefore when we are weak it becomes to easy to be the wrong kind of witness. Which one of Peter's four instructions do you find most needed in your particular situation? Focusing on Christ rather than your fears is very important for if we stay focused on Christ instead of our fears then we are less likely fall int the weakness of our flesh. For Christ will make us stronger enough to face all of our trials. Paul said that when I am weak then am I strong. Only in Christ.
  17. Q1. (3:8-9) Which of the qualities Peter mentions in 3:8-9 are most evident in your congregation? I believe the most evidence in our congregation is being sympathetic. Which are most needed? I believe that loving as brothers is very important in any church for it seems that a lot of the love is missing in church along with humbling ourselves and being compassionate with one another. What can you and your friends do to change the relational climate at your Church so it is more Christ-like? It is important that we all work hard at showing that brotherly love to one another that they may see how great God's love is and want to draw closer to Him and be more Christ like as well.
  18. Q4. (Genesis 31:44-55) What are the terms of the Mizpah Covenant? The terms was that Jacob would not mistreat hes wives nor to marry any other wives of other places. Also that neither one would pass this place to do any harm to the other but to keep peace. An oath between both of them in the name of God that they had made this covenant. Of what is the Mizpah monument supposed to remind Jacob and Laban? The heap of stones which they set up and named Mizpah or (watchtower) and Galeed or Gilead (witness heap). Was to remind them of the agreement that they had made in that place and of the sincerity of the covenant between the two for they said that Yahwah be witness and guarantor of the covenant and that the Lord would keep watch between the two. The oath they made together.
  19. Q3. (Genesis 31:17-36) Why did Jacob and his family leave without saying good-bye to Laban? Jacob hears the complaining of Laban's sons and realizes that Laban will not let him go with in peace with all that is his so since the Lord has already told him to go he feels like he must flea in secret. In what sense did they “deceive” Laban? (31:20, 27). They fled without telling Laban that they was going. Was anything they did unjust or unrighteous? yes If so, how? Rachel had stolen some of her Fathers household gods without anyone knowing about it.
  20. Q2. (Genesis 30:25-43) At what point do you think Jacob realizes that his breeding techniques are not the cause of his growing wealth? When Laban keeps changing his wages and puts different challenges before him he realizes that its not what he's doing but that it has to be the hand of the Lord that gives him favor. According to Deuteronomy 8:17-18, what danger are we in when our income and assets begin to increase? A lot of times when things are going well with us and especially with our finances we get to feeling that we are doing great works all on our own and the we are somebody special which brings about pride and arrogance that can destroy ourselves and others around us spiritually. We must always remember that we can't do anything without the Lord's hand upon us and that its always His blessings that allows us to prosper.
