  1. The tithe is his way of accepting the Lord's kingship over Jacob, an act of submission and fealty. Tithing isn't about money but about discipleship. Tithing is a powerful indicator to us that we trust God and have committed our lives to him. And so it was for Jacob.
  2. Jacob sets up the stone as an act of dedication of himself in worship, a way of remembering God's presence in this place. He anoints it as an act of cleansing and consecration, setting it -- and himself -- apart for God. Jacob promise God in his vow that: Yahweh will be his God, This pillar will be God's house, I will give God a tenth of all God gives me.
  3. He wakes up, he is flushed with the excitement of this revelation and he immediately declares that this spot is important to God, and the ladder is the port hole to God. He is trying to idolize something physical as representation of God, rather than listening to the very words God gave him. Up until this time, we see little spiritual life in Jacob. Jacob thought that he had walked away from his home the promised land of his father
  4. In spite of Jacob openly deceiving his father, Isaac still loves him and blesses him generously as he departs. Perhaps Isaac is finally beginning to see that Jacob is indeed the son through whom God's promise to Abraham will be fulfilled. And so he speaks over Jacob the ancient blessing of Abraham: This is the same blessing that God gave Abraham. Fruitfulness -- numerous descendants, Land -- the land of Canaan, and World -- the nations of the world will be blessed.

  7. Q5. 28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob. Gen 25:28 (KJV) Q5. What happens when your children sense that you love one child more than another? Did such discrimination happen to you when you were growing up? If so, how are you finding healing? How can we as parents love our children equally but differently? http:/www.joyfulheart.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=927 When a child senses that you love one child more than another they are threatened, insecure and afraid. They either dissolve into the back ground or stand their ground and fight to win the attention back. I think in every household there is a time when there is discrimination. Siblings are always out to win the vote of
  8. Q4. (Genesis 27:33) 33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed. Gen 27:33 (KJV) Q4. Why couldn't Isaac reverse his blessing once he discovers Jacob's trickery? What is Isaac's role in this blessing? What is God's role in it? Basically Isaacs blessing was a prophetic repeating of the Abrahamic Covenant. I don
  9. God had told Rebecca that Jacob is supposed to rule over Esau (Genesis 25:23). 23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. Gen 25:23 (KJV) Q3a and b: To what extent does this excuse her plan to deceive her husband Isaac? And how much responsibility does Jacob bear in the deception? Rebecca knew what Isaacs was doing was wrong, he was doing it in secret, and Isaac was truly trying to stop God
  10. Q2a: Was Rebecca a spiritual woman, that is, interested in spiritual things? Yes Rebecca was a spiritual woman. Firstly she was chosen by God to be Isaacs
  11. Q1a. Why does the New Testament condemn Esau for selling his birthright? (Hebrews 12:16-17) 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. Heb 12:16-17 (KJV). Esau
