  1. Isaac blessed Jacob as the blessed "first-born" son. As we encountered in the previous lesson, Isaac did not recall the "first-born blessing". As written in this lesson, he maybe encountered that Jacob was more spiritual then Esau or that the life is managed by God. The Isaac
  2. Hi all, my name is Milan, I am 47 and I am living in the Czech Republic. I am Christian for the whole life (I was christened when I was 6 days old) although it was not easy in times before 1989. But I had brilliant parents that transmitted the faith to me. I was appointed by our archbishop as acolyte 4 years ago. It means for me, among others, to educate myself not only in my profession, but also in that transmitted the b Christian function. This is the reason, why I have took part in this course. It is my pleasure to have the "classmates" from the whole world.
  3. It is a little bit frustrating for both children - the more loved as it feels that something is not correct and for the less loved as it is discriminated and in the background. On the other hand, the more loved child, if it has bad character, could misused such a situation for own gain or if it has better character to utilise own influence to lower the impacts of unequal approach of parents to their children. I have experienced it, I was more loved by my father then my sister and it was frustrating for me, sometimes I have profited from it, sometimes I tried to help my sister. I try to have the same approach to my children having in mind mistakes of my parents, but surely, I am making another mistakes. Important for me is to support both children equally in their interests, to help them to develop their different skills.
  4. We are saying "The word is making a man". It was not possible to Issac to reverse his blessing - he was surely a good old man and his word has sense and power. Next, if he would reverse his blessing, it would bring much more fights between the brothers. Each of one would have the same blessing and they would fight for the rightness just of the own blessing. It was not possible to reverse it. Isaac, maybe, was influenced by God, he was a "tool" of the God to fulfil the God
  5. In the first two questions, we have discussed the "spirituality" both of Rebekah and Isaac too. Isaac was more oriented to hunting, to common life than to the God. On the contrary to Rebekah. Maybe, she saw this as only way how to obtain the blessing for Jacob. Today, we prefer the discussion, but the discussion in then society, according to my opinion, was not so common, not possible. And Jacob? He bought the birthright from Esau. It was a fair deal, both from then and today
  6. What does it mean "spiritual"? Rebekah was not a priest, on the other hand, she consulted her problems with God. She believed in God, she trusted the God, she relied on the God. But was she "interested in spiritual things". I do not think so. And Isaac - he was more interested in hunting, but he prayed for her wife. Why? He wanted a son, a heir. It is similar as we are doing. We are praying mainly when we need something, when we miss something, when we are ill, poor. Are we so much different then Isaac and Rebekah? Up to now, I did not find any evidence of spirituality in Jacob or Esau. Mainly the reason is that both are young. As anyone of us, they have to grow, to attain maturity not in the physical sense but in the spiritual, intellectual sense.
  7. We believe, the life is a gift from the god. We cannot sell our life, to manage it according our wishes. We believe, the god has certain plan with everyone of us. When Esau sold his birthright, he, in light of the NT philosophy, rejected the God
